Peterborough V Coventry Challenge 19th Match 12pm
stevebrum replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Would seem a win win to me. Of course people can just download and print off their own sheets if cost bothers them that much. I prefer a programme and it's all part of the experience to me. -
exactly. It adds to the league having decent standard riders continuing on their speedway career at a less hectic schedule. I think the standard of the league itself is vastly improved and dare I say a much more professionally run thing. Some clubs coming into the league are adding to its standards also. Having been a part time fan of that standard league for a while I now see a lot more and that's what gives me most pleasure seeing the next generation progress. At Birmingham it was an absolute pleasure to watch the likes of Blackburn, Smith, zack, Hume progressing over the season and those 4 could well be in the world cup squad in 5 years time. Almost as pleasurable as watching my beloved Wolves win the title again. I'm not sure about that. Team's that have old hands as the dominant force have been few and far between the past couple of seasons. Looking at last year's line ups only Stoke had a more prominent older standard of rider, whilst the likes of Hay in his late twenties is only a recent convert. Most line ups had a good mixture with the prominence on youth and next generation.

Peterborough V Coventry Challenge 19th Match 12pm

Good idea. People should be able to walk into any speedway office and buy a race formula for a nominal charge. -
Why? Some riders just aren't good enough to move up or are at the tail end of their career and happy to stay involved. Nothing wrong in that. Just like some riders aren't good enough to move up from 2nd division racing to top tier standard. All riders have varied abilities. No one should be punished for not being able to or wanting to move up.

Then you missed out on a treat. More than double the amount of pages with some excellent pictures, coverage and interviews that made it a superb read. I know if people that have already ordered one who couldn't make the meeting. Much larger in size than usual, this was a top class programme by any standard. -
Yes Lakeside did. He had his first top flight chances with them. Poole contributed very little to his progress, he was ready in 2016 whoever he rode for.
-
Delighted to hear he is okay. Shame about the equipment tho.
-
Nothing wrong with his hand. Didn't pull out, and rode well. The feigned injury line was rubbish last year and isn't applicable this year.
-
And much better today thankfully. Hopefully he is ok after a big get off tonight.

Fair enough, however the point still stands that's several over the years have quit racing in the UK and team GB which means there is something not right going on at the top table! Think it's always been assumed that he could select either, didn't he make a thing of saying he was selecting to race for GB because he could when he first came over? So your post throws up an interesting point. I don't know the regulations and criteria for qualifying for dual nationality if anyone does? If true it would be an embarrassment for those who hold it over Tai and use it like a yard stick to beat him with.
-
He has dual nationality so he can choose either. He has always nailed his flag to the UK mast and I don't see that changing. He has certainly done more for British Speedway than the BSPA have so we should be grateful of that. Whilst I don't agree with his stance on not riding in the National competitions I firmly lay the blame on that where it belongs, with the governing body.

Yes, they got some laps in earlier until the track was too wet.
-
That's great news.
-
It was rained off. Not sure if any got any track time tho.

The Aussies can try claim him if they want. He lived a huge chunk of his life. Do you really think Tai and his team were listening to any of the announcing. Riders and teams are far to busy and mentally prepared to pay attention to what the announcer says! in honesty that's all irrelevant. He has never ridden under the Oz flag and doubt he will. If he does you might have it right. He is in Oz as a GB rider during the GP's, makes no difference what the announcer says!
-
He doesn't claim to be British, he is. Don't speculate what those attending Cardiff know or don't know. Anyone has a right to applaud their best British rider in many years, equally there is a small minority that have turned their back on supporting him. Both are valid choices. Let's not forget his isn't the first British rider to have turned their back on the UK league at one point or another. Simon Wigg, Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson all did so too. We all agree that the BSPA doesn't do enough for British speedway. Tai appears to feel the same! Looks like he has a lot in common with plenty of us too!
-
be careful. You might get called a bully I'd be surprised if you were.
-
Is she any good? On a more serious note the Poles really have bullied the rest of Europe with their demands. The likes of Chris and Iversen as example would probably have no choice but to be dictated to by them however the next generation like Jack need to think hard and fast about which is best for them at this stage of their career. The amount of racing and experience he will get in Britain this year far outweighs any chance he may be given in 2017. Once he is experienced enough he can make his own decisions about what is best for his career. It's a shame ALL the European clubs didn't stick together on this and refuse to sign. Now they do actually run all of Europe's leagues. It's downhill from here because THEY make the rules we all have to follow. Fair play to MF this time, whether it's going to cause a rift between him and young Jack tho is to be seen.

Move on. I've already made my point crystal clear. YOU have been banned for bullying and attacking. Like at least one of your 4 cohorts. I haven't. Enough said.
