To have one rider ill might be a stretch, but 3 illnesses and injuries seems like too many excuses to me. It looked like the majority of the Stars couldn’t be bothered. Just my observation. Like ive stated many times before Monmore hasn’t been the brilliant track it was since we lost Doc. Some would claim they have never seen a good match from there but they clearly haven’t seen the SKY broadcasts over the years.

There have been many excellent meetings from Monmore, not every TV meeting can be a classic. Pickering was hopeless in the 2 races he rode. They were stronger when he became ‘Ill’. Pretty much sums it up. Wolves without question was one of the darling tracks of the SKY era. It’s not been the same since Doc left tho. Shameful comment wishing tracks to close. Not a great meeting to watch, mainly due to the Stars ineffectiveness to attack it as a team or use excuses of illness or injury. Wolves were just the better side. Not a classic by any means.

The Aces definitely are stronger with Zagar without question. Etheridge remains the weak link tho.

The 4th bend is always a problem after heavy rain and i expected grading after heat 2 when it was obvious that it was an issue. Quite often it takes an accident before work is done tho.

Woffy rides in Poland and Denmark and wouldn’t ride in the UK.

Well the rain before the meeting certainly made the track heavy and tricky, which needed a break before the rerun of heat 3. certainly made it a long night. The Aces always seemed in contention without ever looking like winning. For the Aces..........Dont think Wright has ever looked so good, Brennan was quick, fast trapper and great value. Kurtz had 2 great rides and disappeared in the others. As for the rest.... woeful. Allen scored the same as Fricke without doing anything of note. As for Fricke, plain poor. Blodorn did nothing, Hooefully Etheridge is ok after his heat 1 tumble. Wolves..... Masters and Morris were excellent, Becker and Worrall did ok, Douglas tried hard whilst both reserves took a maximum in heat 2 so job done. The track rode much better after grading.

Great away win to start the day, looking forward to watching at Monmore for the first time in 3 years. hoping that won’t be an omen, looking at the Aces line up I can’t see much of a challenge tonight.

Thanks Arch, way too busy with life and career to read or post much. Speedway is a low priority for me these days. I’ve been working Mondays for the past 3 years so not even had chance to get to a meeting. Thanks for the thought. I know you always famously get the quote wrong so it’s good to see nothing has changed. I said he COULD have been given his success in other motorcycle disciplines. You appear even more clueless if you think David could still be Workd champion. It’s comforting to see little has changed.

Thanks for that update, I’d forgotten it’s a 28 day replacement. Certainly changes my thoughts on KL unless PK is able to find some form. Be interesting to see how he goes if and when he comes back.

Late to the table to pick but here goes. Prior to play offs. 1. Sheffield - on paper by far the strongest 1-7. Such a strong top 5 and if Nielsen stays fit are going to be a tough team to beat. 2. Peterborough- look stronger to me with Basso likely to be a big hit (given what we have seen so far as extra evidence). Palin is only going to improve more too. Solid throughout. 3. Wolves - a slight downgrade from last season. Worrall I think will do exactly as he usually does. Great reserve pairing with tons of potential. 4. Ipswich - Doyle should ensure they have a chance late on in meetings and a great top 2 with King. Going to depend on the likes of Batch and Heeps as to how much they will feature this year. 5. Kings Lynn - Iversen needs a season of no injury as it’s decimated his career the past 3 seasons. But way better than Kildemand so a huge step up. 6. Belle Vue - waiting on Bewley was the worst thing to do for the team so a costly mistake. Will need to strengthen up once the season gets going. Looks awful on paper.

Most Aces fans will think twice about Lawson being a ‘track specialist’ again tho I’d imagine. Aces out scored Wolves reserves 12 -10 NBJ won a race, so did Douglas.

By using your Lawson logic Morris could have got double figures as well.

Morris at least scored 3 times as much last time. At least this dispels the theory that Lawson is a NSS track specialist. would have been a much larger victory with Nick in the side.

Really saddened today to hear of the passing of former Birmingham rider Archie Wilkinson. He never missed a meeting at Perry Barr since they reopened and was always in his usual position on the terraces on the home straight. My original hero as a kid I have had the pleasure of knowing Archie as an adult. Someone I’ve always had time for and has to be one of the nicest, kindest and helpful people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Such a sad loss to the world, RIP Archie.
