  1. People have been saying the sport has been dying 20 years ago and probably since the 80s. The truth is the sport is still here and continues to struggle on. I’d imagine in 20 years time people will still be saying the sport has never been poorer. I think the assumption that the sport is dying is that one day it won’t be around, I very much doubt that will be the case at all.
  2. People have been saying the sport is dying for 20 years or more. That’s the only point I meant. I certainly wasn’t and am not saying the quality of the sport was just as poor 20 years ago. I’m just sick and tired of people saying the sport is dying a slow death. It will still be around in another 20 years. Read comment above.
  3. Hospital admissions are way below the prediction made by the experts (which shows just how wrong they are) and the NHS is under no increased pressure from Covid. The experts predicted 60,000 daily by now and they are way off the mark. The truth is the variant isn’t a real issue to the UK right now. The sooner we get used to living with this virus the better, it’s going nowhere. So long as hospital admissions don’t start rising at an alarming rate (they aren’t) and deaths don’t start increasing at a rapid rate (they aren’t) then it’s time to start moving forward as a nation. The vaccine is doing its job (as well as killing some too).
  4. Foreign riders want to come but quite often they are no better than British youngsters but it’s one solution. ive been hearing about this continuous slow death of British Speedway for 20 years or more yet the sport carries on. The sport will continue in some form or other so long as people still support it so I see no difference now to 20 years ago.
  5. Yea I get that, he is a like or loathe sort of presenter. At least he isn’t Peter Yorke!
  6. Yea I hope so, hoping to bring my dad along too. Be good to see live speedway again!
  7. No mate, not there till they lift these stupid restrictions, Sorry Brian, but going to have to completely disagree with you regards Porkie the presenter. He always helps to create an atmosphere and is very OTT. Don’t think there are many presenters around that have the same personality and charisma as Porkie. He always involves the travelling supporters and gets a bit of banter going. Sadly lacking in today’s presentation. Can’t think of anyone better for the job.
  8. If there is one team that could get points at Monmore it will be Sheffield. No Howarth last time so Wolves need to be on form tonight.
  9. There are only a handful of riders in the Top flight that don’t ride in the CL.
  10. With only 6 teams there will quite a bit of repeating of seeing the same teams. Matches involving Wolves are likely to be included because they are one of the stronger teams this season.
  11. 2 and 4 were the best gates in the last half of the meeting and had won the last 3 heats. Very easy to see why.
  12. Think it’s only 7 riders that ride only top flight. Every other rider rides in 2 leagues. So just where are these riders going to come from to make it one big league? Whilst I really hope they persevere with the rising star scheme it needs to be 2 for the top flight. Whilst there may be some riders gained from the NL you can add to the mix a lot just aren’t good enough for a higher league whilst the development leagues there is an even bigger gulf. So there simply isn’t enough suitable standard riders to make one big league.
  13. Ipswich were there for the taking tonight, commiserations to Crumpie who tried but clearly wasn’t fit enough, although Allen let them down big time. Wolves sealed the deal in the last race but a good team effort to get the 4 points which is exactly what they should have done tonight. Decent meeting, although a little stop start.
  14. How can a youngster ‘choke’. he has already more than done his job. His gating is superb, same as last at Peterborough. He isn’t expected to be this confident and good at this stage of his career.
  15. Your quote questioned the signing with a question mark. Thankfully the right decision. id always prefer watching a proper young riding star anyway.
  16. And it’s a fact we did the right thing signing him.
  17. Leon is showing yet again why we have plenty of decent British talent coming through. Excellent signing for Wolves. Ipswich for the taking tonight, we should be going for the win.
  18. I saw his first full season with the Brummies so I’ve seen lots of him, probably more than you. He has clearly turned another corner in the winter, great to see him in Wolves colours and doing magnificent tonight. Hopefully he will stay with Wolves for many a season.
  19. Your point? He wasn’t going to get a maximum or is he expected to. Gated well and a promising kid. That’s all you need when you already a decent reserve in place already. His job is solely to outscore the other RS.
  20. I think it will be, and makes complete sense (unlike the extension of lockdown which has no sense whatsoever).
  21. What on earth are you on about? Have you actually read what I said? My point was nothing at all to do with the NHS other than quoting facts about current hospital admissions. There is absolutely no ‘justice’ to the current extension of the lockdown. None whatsoever. If you work for the NHS you will know where to find the stats on admissions. Less than half a person is currently in hospitals with Covid. Hardly anyone is dying from the virus anymore, deaths remain in single figures daily. Those stats alone do not justify an extension of this ridiculous lockdown rules. Boris himself even said we need to learn to live with the virus, that time is now - backed by data. The NHS is not under pressure from Covid at all right now. Have worked for the NHS for many years, what’s your point? The data is available for all to see. The NHS isn’t under pressure from covid right now.
  22. Could have yes, however he hadn’t looked like troubling the scorers so what was the point. They are all proper UK tracks.
  23. Of course it’s pathetic. The criteria they used before to justify was an increase in infections x increase in hospital admissions x increase in deaths. What we currently have is less than half a person with Covid per hospital, yesterday we had 5 deaths, just a few weeks ago we had days with no deaths. Therefore there is not even a hint of a 3rd wave. The vaccine is protecting those who are vulnerable, Covid is currently the 9th biggest killer in the UK, yes 9th. There is no science that backs up the need to extend these ridiculous restrictions. There should never be a need for another lockdown ever again, however I’m sure the government will justify it somehow. Winter will always see an increase in deaths from viruses. The flu kills thousands every year. Do we lockdown or wear masks for those? People going abroad will bring new variants back to the UK. So yet again more threats of a new outbreak. It will never end. Even Boris said ‘at some stage we will have to learn to live with it’. That time is now. Or when do we wait till? infections will stay higher the more people socialise, that is completely NORMAL. So long as hospital don’t see an increase and deaths increase again then this is all perfectly normal. So yes, this extension is totally pathetic, backed up by no science whatsoever.
  24. It’s obvious Wolves and no doubt the speedway league will halt league racing after that pathetic attempt to justify why restrictions should be extended a month.
