Threat To The Elite League
stevebrum replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Either way it's doomed as the PL Is in a marginally better place. It will be the day the sport is buried if it happens. -
Threat To The Elite League
stevebrum replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
the promotion made a lot of noise about moving up when they took over. Plenty of press stories at the time. Maybe times where different back then because it's been tried again in the 90's and failed and we had lots more riders back then. I can see why some say it's a good and sensible idea to merge the leagues again and it might appear to solve lots of issues. However it would lose any credibility and would see the sport fall into a part time amateur sport that would lose more supporters than it would gain. . You make it sound like those leagues are perfect and everything is great. IT ISN'T. Speedway in the UK is suffering, not any one league. All leagues have major issues, to claim only one is at fault is blinkered at best. -
Threat To The Elite League
stevebrum replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Why? Swindon will carry on at the Abbey, Glasgow are keen to move up whilst Ipswich have said they would step back up when it suits them. The sport needs a top flight of racing , without it the sport is as good as dead. -
Wolves V Coventry Mon 6th June 2016

Clearly I haven't failed to see that. You couldn't have signed Stead for either of the reserves at the start of the season. Garrity at reserve with Stead in place of Garrity obviously would have strengthened you up. My point remains your issue was 2 of your 3 heat leaders. why haven't the Bees added Stead now if it's that simple to strengthen up? -

There isn't an issue. Unfortunately some are not bright enough to understand that the riders on the EDR who started the year are nothing to do with 1-5 riders who can ride anywhere in the team. I even read someone suggesting PK is making lots of money as FTR. Sadly some are clueless. -

KK at 1 is dodgy for any club in any season. Harris no issue. King as H/l is an issue. Woryna is a weak signing compared with the amount of points you had spare. Assuming you couldn't find a suitable rider with the points spare and signed Woryna instead you suddenly assume there is another suitable rider to fill the place of Garrity. Hahahaha. PK was never an option as he has already said in press he wouldn't ride for anyone but Wolves . So given how easy you're suggestion when are you making this season changing move then?? Hahahahaha -

Well that is what you get for British riders progressing! There is no point keeping them at reserve, they must have a chance to progress. The method that the BSPA used is the fault not the intent. -

Howarth has progressed to main team and has a higher average. Isn't that the aim for all British riders riders to progress?? What about Klindt? Pedersen? Kurtz? Woryna? All had time at reserve due to FTR riders progressing. -

Really? Even with Garrity at reserve not sure the top 5 is strong enough. -

That's debatable and I take your point. Howarth is still young enough to benefit however the line between those that should qualify and those that shouldn't is very blurred. The wrong thing is leaving promising British riders without an EL place if they want it. And Howarth isn't even the top averaged FTR! Time for a rethink on the system with better planning required. -

Absolutely. Correct progression is from reserve to second string irregardless what the average is. Plus keeping the race format the same is helping to inflate the averages also. Revert back to previous format (as used in PL/NL) with no protected rides plus at the end of the season take out the protected rides as those counting towards their inflated averages to give a much truer real average. It will be a lot of hard work to sort however that hard work should have happened before the start of the season instead of rushing it in with blinkers on. -
That wouldn't even things up as some teams have already ridden B fixtures. So I hope it's looked at at the end of the season is it should be. Otherwise it will help some more than others and that is not fair at all.

50/50 with the Bees.

PK hasn't replaced a FTR something many don't seem to understand. PK has replaced Bech who isn't wasn't a FTR. It just so happens have his average is lower than Howarth who IS a FTR. The joke would be allowing the reserves to stay in that position for ever more meaning any progress is meaningless when not facing stronger riders. The joke is the BSPA for rushing thru the rules on FTR getting true averages yet leaving them with inflated averages due to still having 2 protected rides. Kurtz, Pedersen, Klindt, Woryna have or are due to ride in reserve NOT because they are FTR. -

Gotta say if any newcomers were their tonight they would be back every week to watch racing like that. Credit to Doc and the track staff for preparing a superb track in such warm and humid conditions. I feared it might go slick but Doc and the boys were out every 4 heats preparing a new prepared track - it's not difficult to see why Wolves win as many track awards as they do. Doc is a god! This is one to buy the DVD for, besides the odd strung out heat it was filled with quality racing and credit to both teams for giving us a perfect night of racing in perfect weather (with the perfect result naturally the icing on the cake. As expected Coventry at Monmore are rarely walkovers and after fighting back into the match with the TR I believed they would go on and win it. They were trapping and the wolves boys seemed to be nodding off. As for that TR- as a neutral that was a belter of a race. Garrity as expected given the B/W as KK is as good as hopeless at number one at Monmore. Lo and behold he wins the race with ease such is the enigma that he is. Garrity was in all scoring positions during that race however it looked like his challenge would come to nothing. That said he screamed into the 3rd bend on the last lap and forced Masters wide (he used Masters to slow himself down by pushing into him). Masters had no idea he was there until he was virtually at the 4th bend fence. Certainly was a huge talking point and the home crowd baying for pantomime blood however think the call the to declare the race as it finished was probably the correct one. Would have been harsh to have excluded Garrity but I think everyone in the Wolves camp would have agreed if he did! That certainly inspired a big comeback from the Bees and I feared going into heat 13 however what was I worried about because the former World number 2 did what he normally did and shut off and didn't even attempt to get involved. Lindgren saw off Bomber as well to give us breathing space. And then belief restored with Masters and Jacob riding a superb team pairing to deny King. No Coventry number one in heat 15? Obviously not! However yet more excellent passing and battling upfront and at the back saw me remember why Speedway is the best sport in the world when it's like this. WOLVES FRED - had to battle with King in heat 11 to split the Coventry duo on a 5-1 and as had become the norm ran king wide off the 3rd bend hoping to get Howarth thru. Perfectly fine after Garrity's move In heat 10. Top scored overall and beat Bomber twice. Classic Lindgren.4.5/5 KYLE - quick enough and in the mix.seemed to get spooked by being ahead of KK in heat 1 although he had virtually done the job. 2/5 SAM - quiet score wise but not effort wise. Beat 3 of the bees H/L's in his 4 heats. 3/5 JACOB - rapidly improving and fast becoming a star at Monmore. Beat 2 of the Bees top 3. 4.5/5 MOTM JOONAS - great in heat 7 but otherwise struggled somewhat tonight. 1.5/5 PK - wasn't so sure he would get straight on the pace in his first match but was total class battling for every point. 4/5 MAX - did a decent job in heat 2 but then struggled. 1/5 BEES KK - 5 points from you're number one? Standard KK at Monmore. One easy win the rest total cack. 1/5 Garrity - first race nowhere however was the usual full explosive rider I love watching. One of the stand outs for the visitors. 3.5/5 King - certainly trying hard so can't fault effort . Points didn't reflect effort. 2/5 Woryna - impressed with what I saw, cracking gate in his first race but got outsmarted by 2 Monmore experts so no disgrace. His pass and re pass of PK in heat 9 was sublime. 2/5 Harris- boy was he quick tonight. Not quick enough against super fast Freddie in the last but as always a joy to watch. 4/5 Roynon - did his job and much better than his last Monmore outing. 1.5/5 Sarjeant - no jumps for a change , that was the only real surprise. 1.5/5 -
Personally unless changes happen then Leicester , Coventry and Kings Lynn will be cast adrift . But plenty can happen at this early mid stage of the season.

Irrelevant, you can't have a rider that has both clubs riding on the same night. That's why cook was initially stopped from signing for Peterborough due to having the same race night as Belle Vue.
-
Watt can't be as bad as Walasek surely? If the rumours are true regards Watt then like you say anyone that can put in 80% is 79% better at the moment.

Aah soz for that. Thought he did okay at Lakeside tho lol.

What does it honestly matter? The ridiculous rules on averages are to blame. The reserves move up if they get a new average as it should be - how that's been calculated is wrong. Riders have dropped to reserve in the past so what's different this season? Nothing. PK is on a relatively low average for a very real reason. Can't see him (or any rider) at reserve long due to the ridiculous 2 weekly average change. -
Have you see Walasek at Monmore recently? One of the worst and least interested riders I've had the misfortune to watch (with Kasprzak a close 2nd).

1st meeting of the season in the UK tho. It's probably the best time to race against us with PK then. There is no assumption he will come in and clean up in his first meeting anyway. -

Cov are always good value but this depends if the former world number 2 scores 4 or 14 if they are going to get anything from this. Always good watching Bomber and Garrity at the Green tho. 52-40 -
