Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
stevebrum replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What is embarrassing is how low Britain has sunk in the speedway world. That's the fault of those running the sport .. not the rider. I know where my blame lies. Typical attack on Tai tho , whilst I'm displeased he has given up the EL and Wolves he is no different to the scores before him. You all need to look higher than Tai for blame. Not for a couple of seasons. -

I'm not, I like close racing and close battles. I've seen 2 meetings at Birmingham this season that have been bore fests because the opposition has been strung out at the back. People going to support the sport and local team keep the sport alive. What doesn't is people not going to watch their local team because they don't like the shape of the track or those who stay away because of the politics of the sport. That helps no one. -

That will teach me to think I know remotely anything about horse racing! Still its given some a laugh as if I was a Swindon fan I'd do clutching at anything remotely funny right now. Prize numpty (me I mean! ) Speedway bikes don't have brakes. -

We all think different. Enough close racing to keep me entertained. Maybe I've just been starved of EL action! -

Wrong, he still would have to fit in any teams average and no one would make those changes for the odd meeting. You have more chance of red rum being found than this happening. -

Nowhere. He isn't interested in riding in the UK. -

Always thought Masters was a dark horse waiting to happen. Think the Oz GP gave us a bit of a clue. Always said I expected him to be a heat leader this season, and it's looking whoever moves up to heat leader we will have strong second strings too. -

Didn't hear all the interview as I was talking but he apparently said he wouldn't ride for anyone else but said he was over here "doing business". His business IS racing! Go figure! -

I know what I saw. And please don't expect me to take seriously any post that said they didn't bother watching because the racing is supposed to be poor or those that said they turned off halfway thru. Those opinions are completely irrelevant. Feel free to tell me there was no passing or close racing because you will be lying. -

In fairness his score flatters him. Only beat Clegg who besides 1 ride was well off the pace. Think we have a very differently animal at Wolves this year. Dominant from the off, the TR as always gives the losing team some momentum however heat 12 could have seen the the dominant Hammers come to the for but it proved a very brief and false fightback, Wolves smashed the Hammers out of sight in the last 3 even with a GP rider present in 2 of them. The track was fast and grippy all night with times still below 56 after heat 13. It certainly wasn't the pass fest we have become used too over the years but a dominant win was lapped up by a big crowd tonight. Freddie even came over to the start line after heat 15 gesturing for the crowd to scream louder. He clearly loves being a Wolf and said on the victory parade that he feels there is something special about this Wolves side this year. Interesting to hear PK being interviewed saying he is over here doing 'business', guess it's only a matter of time before he is announced somewhere. 3 wins out of 3 and looking good. WOLVES FRED - besides a heat 11 blip when he first got caught in traffic and then misjudged a tight 2nd bend cut back and fell in 3rd it was vintage Fred. No doubt the usual will moan he is still on the decline. 4.5/5 SAM - electric starts, superb track awareness. What a home debut. Heat leader berth beckons 5/5 MOTM JACOB - 2 excellent wins and a good scrap with Swiderski in heat 10 before the Pole took him dangerously close to the 2nd bend fence on the last lap. 3/5 MIKKEL - had a couple of excellent races but needs more time at Monmore before he gets more dominant. Decent home debut. 3/5 JOONAS - had one blip when got pushed out of the opening bend action in heat 7 otherwise. Beat AJ 2-0. 4/5 MAX - gave it a real go in heat 5 challenging Swiderski hard for 2 Laps and then got out of shape allowing Mear a way thru. Otherwise out of his depth in the other 2 heats. 1/5 HOWARTH - started like a steam train however his big get off in heat 9 seemed to stall him a little. Not sure why he fell in heat 12 but seemed to struggle to hold on? Up to that fall looked extremely handy as expected at reserve. 3/5 HAMMERS JONSSON- hugely disappointing night for the GP star. Gating was dreadful. Never see him do much at the Green. 1.5/5 SWIDERSKI - good value and effort.Hammers best rider 3.5/5 NILSSON - largely invisible and did nothing of any real note. 2/5 KENNETT - quick and worth more points at least battled hard. 2.5/5 BRIDGER - quick when out in front although looked only once for AJ and way too late on the TR.fair effort. 2.5/5 MEAR - only scored against Clegg and gained a lucky point in heat 5. 1/5 KERR - a good gate in heat 9 but lost it. Otherwise did okay in the reserves heats. 2.5/5 -

As I'm a wolves fan I watched the match at home on SKY. Some great passing excellent battles. So no not dire, my eyes didn't deceive me in the slightest. Plus it's irrelevant where I watched it from. I watched the 15 heats. -
Thought it had been cleared up that either reserve can move into the 1-5??

Maybe if some watched the racing from heats 1 -15 will have seen some good heats, racing and passing. The only farce is you're post. -

The hammers look inspired with Tatum on board. They are dangerous right now. 50-42. -
Well said.So many people get hung up on names. If the PL is named correctly then so is the EL. It's just a title for what we know are first and second divisions.
-
It was predicted not raceable and it wasn't! Your original post however was a well thought out one and we now all know a much bigger picture.
-
True, although the 'reasonable but wrong assumptions ' turned out to be correct in that the rumour was the track wouldn't be raceable and it wasn't!
