Bees V Stars 11/4/16 19:30
stevebrum replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Stars should be targeting an away win at one of the weaker sides. 43-47 -
I agree , the formula allows the better reserves to score heavily and those with poorer reserves will always be left wanting. Having had poor reserves since the draft started (despite us landing Blackbird in the 1st draft season and that just didn't work out) it's our turn to get the benefits that Poole and Coventry - and also Belle Vue, have had from the off. It's time for the tier ones to move up, rightly so. However the bigger issue for me is once Newman, Worrall, Howarth as examples finish the season on true averages of probably well over 5 (probably much higher) will EL clubs employ them in 2017??
-
Apparently it's either but not both. cannot see any reason why a tier 2 ISNT protected.
-
No doubt CVS will be happy to have weekly speedway at the Green however he needs to hope that Wolves fans still have interest after having to wait so long so a home match. No doubt Cradley will have another home match tomorrow.
-
That of course is the only difference and it's obvious that the much better reserves of any era will have a huge influence on the title hopes.

Leicester V Belle Vue 09.04.16
stevebrum replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He didn't last year , think his real average was about 4. No better than Walasek then. -
Same as it's always been. No one has forgotten the super young talents on a fake 4 point average that dominated championship winning teams year after year. Soon as they moved up (after 12 matches much more advantage than now) a main team strong rider replaced them. So nothing new. They also used to have 5 - 7 rides a match.
-
Agreed, that's the only difference. Reserves winning teams meetings is yonks old.

WALASACK? ? -
I'm delighted for the Heathens fans to be back at Monmore however it's feeling like WE are the poor relations. Tuesdays are now free so I see no issue why Cradley can't go back to Tuesdays again. Something is seriously wrong when we have barely any free dates to fit in rain offs, meaning the main tenants not the cos hosts. (no offence meant or intended!) I believe the weather forecast for Monday isn't great either.
-
I think we may as well cancel all matches until the weather improves. Promoters can't be bothered and with fixture clashes there seems little point. The promoters can't be bothered so why should the fans? Another pathetic call off. I hope I can sustain my interest in the sport while I'm waiting to watch an EL fixture at Monmore. And NO Cradley don't count.

Reserves have always been important , nothing to add. Nothing new to see here.

Lakeside V Poole Ela. 8/04/16
stevebrum replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Never saw that coming. Well done to the Hammers looking dark horses already. Poole made to look very ordinary - will be surprised many teams will do that this season. -
Belle Vue V Leicester Friday 8th April.
stevebrum replied to nw42's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Whilst I applaud the statement about the track as a bit of transparency for a change the fact that as a club they are taking money for meetings that they know they cannot run yet is nothing short of disgraceful. I reckon it's going to take a few years to recover from this scandal. What a shame when we should ALL be celebrating this new stadium. -
Bspa Warning About Live Streaming
stevebrum replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They have already indicated that it's against SKY'S deal so I'd be very surprised any filming of RACING would be strictly prohibited. That said surely any promotion would welcome action from the pits, rider interviews , fan interaction etc. Maybe that is something they might allow? -
So its still the track. Proves they have tried to rush the one thing that is vital. about time for a bit of transparency in speedway, good on them for this information.

Belle Vue V Leicester Friday 8th April.

Aces should open with 60 points on their debut. -
Think it can be either tier, although only one can move up if both reserves average higher than a 1-5 team member. Why is there a separate debate on Newman? Hasn't it been done to death??

Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 6/4/16
stevebrum replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Obviously it has been more noticeable at Poole although if I was a forward thinking management and sports organisation I'd monitor it and allow limited access (say no more than the odd race but off racing stuff should be positively encouraged. SKY obviously are being protected here and I can see the logic up to a point. However anything that gets more people interested should be applauded. (That said some of the people intending to watch were fans of other clubs who wouldn't have been going to Poole anyway!) -
Brummies V Rye House Ko Cup 1st Leg Wed 6.april 2016
stevebrum replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Good to see a promotion giving the speedway folk a match despite a huge downpour before the meeting. Something the EL promoters and riders could learn a trick from. Track was wet and predictably one line racing however the last 3 heats certainly saw the riders swapping positions and proper racing. The result wasn't really in doubt and the raiders look a poor travelling team. Hume is proving a bargain on that average. -
