yes, quite interesting that Hammarby's ice racing meeting attracted a bigger crowd then their speedway team. Although the speedway team has allot more meetings per season so i guess that it is not a fair comparison. Anyway i hope that the final at Eskilstuna in 3 weeks will be just as popular.

Good news. Imo speedway in general would likely benefit from an increased awareness and interest in the states. I also think its a good idea to bring in people like Hamill. Well know names (especially former world champions) usually brings some extra weight behind a project like this. We have a similar thing going on in Sweden in rallying. -

Too bad but not THAT surprising, Målilla is too far south to host such an event especially since they have to rely on cold weather only while other tracks such as Uppsala, have equipment for making artificially frozen ice. Apparently the ice in Målilla was only 3-4 cm thick on some places. more info here: http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/nyheter.php?subaction=showfull&id=1327162412&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1701& and here: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=86&artikel=4922201

Actually they are not taking any decisions at all regarding speedway/ice racing http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=67537&st=0 5th row from above.

@Jacqueline, apparently some hooligans have made very abusive comments regarding comments to him and also his family. According to the article he have received allot of critics for his decisions.

Perhaps but then they would at least have managed to qualify thanks to their own performance rather then being handed a wild card year after year. Personally i think that we actually would see a few suprises if we scrapped the wild cards. You could also say that some riders like Lindgren and Harris are considered better because they already are in the GP series. To which they have been given wild cards many times. If another rider would have been given the same treatment perhaps he would have done just as good or even better?

Örnsköldsvik have cancelled this weekends elitserien and Swedish Championship qualification due to the warm weather. Östersund have been asked if they can host Sunday's Swedish Championship qualification a decision about that will be taken today. http://www.racemcsport.com/ornskoldsvik-staller-in-helgens-isracing

And the event in Örnsköldsvik during the upcoming weekend is also i danger due to warm weather. The article says that its pretty much a crisis since entire Europe, more or less, lacks ice. "The idea was that Örnsköldsvik is supposed to have their first meeting the upcoming weekend. But nut even Ö-vik is safe from the warm winds, -It rained there yesterday says P-A Lindtrö, so i don't know. http://zport.se/2.43...nska-krisartat- Howver, weather forecasts for Ö-vik says colder weather from Thursday and a couple of days onward.

I agree with HenryW aswell, but i also think Sidney has a point in that too many riders are guaranteed a place in the SGP. Basically top 8+ Harris and Lindgren seems to be a guaranteed a place. Imo i would reduce the permanent wildcards to one and also reduce the number of guaranteed places from 8 to 5 or 6. Then i would have the rest qualify.
