Sgp 2012 Wild Cards Now Clear?
Ghostwalker replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Orion if GB would like another GP i dont think that would be a problem even if there is three GPs in Poland. I think the question rather is if there would be enough spectator interest for a 2nd GB Grand Prix? Poland have three GPs because they sell out, if a 2nd GB GP also would sell out (more or less) i do think that BSI would mind having one regardless of how many GPs that are held in Poland. -

why is it unfair? Instead of a 3rd Polish GP where should it be? -

MotoGP have 4! GPs in Spain; Spanish, Catalonian, Aragonian ( Alcañiz, Spain.) and Valencia. MotoGP also have two in Italy; Italian and San Marino GP (at Misano World Circuit, Italy and two GPs in the USA; Laguna Seca and Indianapolis. So what is the difference compared to speedway? -

so why only count the last 14 gps are the others one not valid as results in anyway? it also means that 3/4 of those GPs weren't successful. -
i don't know, no rules for next season have been mentioned yet. Rumours are that it will be only 7 riders/squad. I don't see how it would possible to lower it though, there is already allot of moaning from "certain fans" that the averages is just rubbish that needs to be scrapped. Those fans have a very hard time understanding that of the averages would be removed completely that day Swedish speedway would die. Both because teams would try to sign a better team they could afford but also because there would be a big risk that a few teams would be too dominant which would cause the interest to go away.

They have announced that they will ride in Allsvenskan next season. However this is dependant on that they receive appropriate permissions from Svemo as they didn't get their elite license. But i do think that they will be allowed in Allsvenskan anyway since it would be of benefit from Allsvenskan to have 8 teams instead of 7 teams and since no team from Div1 wants to move up to Allsvenskan i don't think anyone would protest.

1 podium even a WC rider can do that. Zorro have two semi-finals from two attempts, THJ also got two semifinals from two attempts. Harris only managed 2 semi finals besides the podium. Despite riding in every GP. IMO If a a rider like THJ makes two sem-finals from two attempts as well as entering the qualification process he would be a just a good pick as Freddie and Harris. Also as i have said before if no other riders gets the chance to prove themselves in the GPs how could you know that they would not perform better then the regular charity cases? Harris got 1 podium finish this year but also 9 none podiums, Freddie got two podiums but also 8 non podiums, Nicki got 1 Victory this year which puts him ahead of FL and CH. How many Victories have Freddie got from his SGP career? Zero, How many victories have Harris achieved? -

its hard to know if a rider would be able to finish on the podium if he never would get a chance to prove it. One thing is proven though is that both Harris and Freddie also seems to lack the ability to finish on the Podium, Lindgren have 5 podiums from 4 seasons, 1-2008,2-2009,0-2010 and 2 this year. Harris got 6 podiums from 5 seasons of which 1 is from this year. at least Nicki P is among the top scorers in the leagues but neither Lindgren or Harris are. non qual, riders that are ahead of Harris and Freddie in Sweden scoring wise are: Nicki Pedersen, Grigory Laguta, Jurica Pavlic (only 4 meetings for him), Grzegorz Walasek, Daniel Nermark, Darcy Ward, Ryan Sullivan, the something for Poland: Ryan Sullivan Grigorij Łaguta Adrian Miedziński Maciej Janowski Matej Zagar Piotr Świderski Nicki Pedersen Fredrik LIndgren Sebastian Ułamek Daniel Nermark Rune Holta Troy Batchelor Krzysztof Kasprzak Janusz Kołodziej Rafał Okoniewski Niels Kristian Iversen Martin Vaculik Bjarne Pedersen Chris Harris so take your pick, lots of good names to choose from. -

re- janowski , vaculik, Pavlic, Dennis etc.,... i agree that they probably are not ready but as late as a year ago people were making claims thatthe U21 champion should get a free spot into the GPs. -

spook, Pepe won't need a wild card as he qualified via the Grand Prix Challenge. The same goes for Antonio and Bjarne. Also you could argue what its worth most, finishing some 30p behind the nr8 or finishing 4th in the qualifier 1p behind the last qualifier. Vaculik have not been particular impressive in Sweden though this season, 9 meetings and some 45p only. Another name that cannot be overlooked is Maciej Janowski, who has finished 5th in the 2009 U21 world Champs, he was 2nd in 2010 and is currently leadingthis years u21 world champs series head of Dennis Andersson in 2nd, Darcy Ward in 3rd, Martin Vaculik in 4th Patryk Dudek in 5th and Przemysław Pawlicki in 6th. On the other hand he is Polish and we all know what that means... SO imo both Freddie and Harris have burnt their bridges by not riding in the qualifiers. Freddie has a 100% rate of failure in finishing top 8 in the 4 seasons he have been a full-time GP rider. Although Lindgren managed to go through via last years GP challenge. For Harris its an 80% rate of failure of managing to finish top 8. -
Elitserien Playout Final 1 2011-09-27 Dackarna - Västervik Dackarna Andreas Jonsson Hans Andersen Fredrik Lindgren Jurica Pavlic R/R Rune Holta Daniel King Joel Larsson Västervik Tomasz Jedrzejak Peter Ljung Chris Harris Nikolai Klindt Sebastian Ulamek Pontus Aspgren Rafal Okoniewski Its time for the relegation final. The looser is this double meeting will follow Lejonen down to Allsvenskan. That is if Rospiggarna chooses to take the step up to Elitserien. Several of Dackarna's riders showed goof form in Gorican, however its now a league meeting and the pressure on both team's riders are probably quite big. In the series Dackarna won both meetings. At home the won with 48-41 and at Västervik they won with 46-44. Both Tuesdays and Wednesdays meeting will be shown live on Canal+ Sport 1. There have been allot of complaining about that Rospiggarna haven't announced their decision yet. This is despite that Rospiggarna have until Saturday in this week (October 1st) to decide. Some speculate that they will decline while others claim that they have new sponsor on the line which would give the the funds needed for a return to Elitserien. So we'll just have to wait and see.

well his wc was justified when the WC was handed out. He was really excellent last season. but the direct opposite this season. -

Ghostwalker replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What is the point of having wild cards at all if they always are going to be handed out to Harris and Lindgren? Why should they always be favoured before anyone else? I'd say that since both of them entered the GPs on wild card its about time they lets someone else have a try. So far Harris have received wild cards for 4 out 5 seasons and Freddie for 3 out of 4 seasons and they still don't manage to get in on merit more then once on these tries. So imo they have had more then enough chances especially if they can't qualify more then once on so many tries. -

i agree with most of this post, although i think one wc could be kept just in case we get a situation like last year with Emil, where he got injured in the beginning of the season and then got injured again in the comeback. I such cases i think a Wc could be justified when having in mind what Emil showed the year before. as i've said before, its not actually the wild card system itself that the problem lies within the use of the system. If we would have a clear set of rules and definitions for wild card a system with maybe two wild card it could work but i doubt BSI will change anything because its probably very convenient for them to have the currents system where they in a routine manner just hands out the wild cards to Lindgren, Harris and the other two who finished 9-12 ish. -

well i stil think that even if they are riding in multiple leagues, they should try and qualify. rather then just waiting for the wild card. -

Ghostwalker replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
MP you still got the Cardiff Wild Card. Name any other motorsport world championship that has place granted in the championships for all host nations. also football is different as its championships are an every 4th year tournaments of which meetings are all held in the same country. While speedway's world championship is an annual series. There are at least three host countries in SGP that does not have a granted spot, Czech Rep. Italy & and Croatia. So why should Briatn have one and not those? -

Ghostwalker replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
i'd say only Ward deserves a wild card of those. Especially Freddie and Harris should be excluded until they can qualify on their own. also what would be the point of having WIld Card if the same riders get them year after year? -
