Grand Final 2nd leg Ipswich vs Leicester
TheSmiler replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I wouldn’t run R/R as you run the risk of another injury and running out of rides for the reserves. I think Ipswich should be looking to Charles Wright to guest. -
2025 Torun SON and SON 2

This is so boring. I truly hope SON is binned after this season. -
Enter Nigel Tolley…

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
TheSmiler replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I would like to see change and a north/south divide with top 2 from each in play offs. However, I honestly don’t think much will change next year at this point. The setup will remain with one last “roll of the dice”. Two clubs to move up, with two clubs entering the championship. Premiership: Belle Vue Ipswich King’s Lynn Leicester Plymouth Scunthorpe Sheffield Championship: Berwick Edinburgh Glasgow Mildenhall Northampton Oxford Poole Redcar Workington NDL as is. -
GP line-up for 2026
TheSmiler replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Doyle has had many wild cards now and is always missing injured, and there are 3 Aussies ahead of him so I think his time is up IMO. Max Fricke is a given and only missed out on the points system (the old format he would have been 7th over Lambert) Then there’s the conversation around Martin Vaculik who had a massive fall off this year but has been a consistent rider for the last 6+ years so I think he deeerves one also. I’d give one to Laguta if the powers that be finally have some sense. I’d love to give one to Emil but I believe we are starting to see him past his best. then I believe the SGP2 champion should be an automatic qualification. So if there is four (dependant on SEC), I would like to see: Max Fricke Martin Vaculik Artem Laguta Nazar Parnitskyi -
Ipswich v Belle Vue POSF Leg 2
TheSmiler replied to blue witch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If this is on, then I expect Ipswich to win by about 20 points. Brady and Dan will put up a fight but ultimately Belle Vue’s lower end will cost them. -
Birmingham v Leicester Mon 25th August PL2
TheSmiler replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He was planning to, but travelling up whilst injured to sit in the pits didn’t take his fancy. Fitting end to watch Andy Grahame take some final laps after the meeting. -
Birmingham v Leicester Mon 25th August PL2
TheSmiler replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A huge shame that the Brummies have gone out with such a whimper. A complete disgrace from Musielak tonight who retired in three of his five rides. Also a disgrace from him & Zagar not to come out with the rest of the team to applaud and say goodbye to the fans. Wank3rs. -
Not a day goes by where I don’t feel sad not having Coventry racing. I really, really hope we can see Brandon back some time but the longer it goes on, the slimmer my hopes get. 😞
-
Well, here it is. Please let this be the last time we’re doing this. 😞 The final time bikes will roar around Perry Barr. A sad, sad end to a turbulent few years for the Brummies. Wishing Tolley and the Birmingham promotion all the very best for the future and hope that they can end with a good crowd for what will be an emotional night.

That Oxford pits is an awful atmosphere and it’s coming across on camera. Peter Shroek shrugging and shouting at Tungate, the other riders just sat around. Not good -

Is It Finally Time For One League?
TheSmiler replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is why I referred to “smaller squads”… I am wondering if British Speedway should use the Danish format moving forward. Something has to give. -
Having watched last night’s TNT meeting from Oxford and once again noticing barely any attendance… this surely cannot be viable for anyone involved. It’s clear that the big boys being over here hasn’t improved anything and we are losing yet more tracks year after year. It’s time to talk about the future of speedway in the UK and how it can survive. Is it time for one league, smaller squads and the removal of the big names? Let’s open the discussion.

I’d be surprised if Birmingham get through the last two months of the season at this point. There will be around 75 die hard oldies at PB on Monday and that’s being generous. Wouldn’t blame Nigel at all if he threw the towel in. Have to feel for him, as bad as he is - he has poured his heart and soul into the club and had no success.

Barker would come in at reserve which would in turn push Jeppesen back into the top 5 and Keynan Rew would be third heat leader… I can’t say I blame the Birmingham promotion. Nobody is going to want to come over for 2 months to a team that won’t exist by September. Tolley has put so much money into the club, what is the point losing much more for a few weeks. 1. Tobiasz Musielak 2. Paco Castagna 3. Keynan Rew 4. Jonas Jeppesen 5. Matej Zagar 6. Ben Barker 7. Sam Hagon (RS) It certainly does look ominous, and I wonder if Nick Morris may well join the team in place of Castagna/Rew for the last few weeks to get himself back on the bike.
