  1. Good to see MPT scoring well. He always gives 100%, a real crowd pleaser at Belle Vue last year.
  2. Congratulations, excellent content and incredible value for money. My only minor suggestion for improvement is to add the post code to the how to get there directions. In these days of sat navs it would make life simpler for those of us who rely on them.
  3. I went to 3 or 4 stock car meetings at Hyde Road in the 1950's and Hednesford once inthe 70's. I found them boring, often couldn't tell who was winning or overtaking for a position rather than just lapping someone and soon got bored with the crashes. To me speedway was far more exciting but the reality is it is entirely down to personal taste. I find football a total bore but plainly the majority of sports fans think otherwise.
  4. Hoping for a win and on paper it should be but this is Belle Vue's first match of the season so they may need time to settle in as a team before we see their true potential.
  5. A sensible decison which will save some riders and most fans a wasted journey. Someone took the trouble to get to the track early this morning.
  6. Belle Vue. 5 Brits last year and same again this year.
  7. I don't think either of these two posters intended to minimise the magnitude of what has been achieved by the Belle Vue promoters or, the tremendous amount of work they have had to put in to get this project to the stage it now is. Your comments did make me laugh though and I do understand who you were getting at.
  8. El Diablo Rojo - Frank Varey
  9. I am one who had been critical of Colin Meredith blaming him for the poor racing and track problems after he relaid the Belle Vue track in 2005. Belle Vue tried a number of different curators after Colin left but none seemed able to create a consistently good racing circuit. However, since Colin returned he had done a brilliant job. The track is now consistently good and the racing better than at any time since the early 90's.
  10. If you go to the link I posted previously, https://m.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.800845563322698.1073741831.129552893785305&type=1 and read the comments you will see that Belle Vue have said that details will be provided when building has progressed to a relevant stage. Pretty much as Tsunami has suggested.
  11. TWK, you can do as I do and join Facebook and twitter without ever posting anything and restrict your page so that nobody can see it. There a only two new photos but you can get updates on the stadium here http://www.bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1316
  12. hyderd, that link doesn't work for me but thanks for posting it. This is the same address but hopefully, this one will work. https://m.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.800845563322698.1073741831.129552893785305&type=1
  13. It has to be the "Wizard of Balance" the "Mighty Atom" Peter Craven. He was still in his prime when he died and could easily have achieved more than his two world titles. His style of riding was not the stand up broadsiding style of his contemporaries but the modern sit down style using his body weight and movement to control the bike and get grip. He was a good gater but also able to come from the back and to team ride. How good it would be to see him, not just for the sheer thrill of being able again to see his superb racing skills but also for him to have the opportunity to have a full career and then enjoy the rest of his life. Edited to add the link to this photograph which epitomises Peter's style, captures the excitement he so often generated and his brilliant ability to come from the back. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204999015708178&id=1025513025&set=gm.658478544275288&source=48
  14. It is certainly no tin shed and although it may be a minor stadium compared to those built for major sports it is still going to be the best speedway stadium in this country. I find it amazing that people can still be going on about the SWC, which is a very minor issue in comparison to the achievement of actually getting a purpose built speedway stadium built in a major city, close to the city centre with all the necessary transport links and facilities to attract major events.
  15. Two systems are already approved. The Poole Mark 1, which cuts off the water supply to the showers but can only be used in play off finals and then only if Poole lose and the Poole Mark 2, which floods only a short section of the inside line and is approved for use anytime Poole wish to call off a match. To be fair I should also mention that the Belle Vue Mark 1 system, which floods the whole track and makes racing dangerous failed to get approval when it was realised that the Poole we need the points to get to the Play offs and Belle Vue have a weakened team card overruled everything else.
  16. The land adjoins the existing stadium so it was not the same as applying for planning at a site with no history of motor sport and stock cars will be continuing at the old stadium. Also, it is a council project. There is a going to be a sound barrier between the track and the houses closest to the track so the noise level should be less than they suffer at the moment.
  17. Good to see that the work is progressing. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.800845563322698.1073741831.129552893785305&type=1
  18. Have a look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=North%20West%20Tonight It starts at about 19 minutes 28 seconds in and is available until 7pm tomorrow.
  19. OK, so perhaps I should have spelt out that my comments applied only to stadiums that operated within the terms of their planning permission. I thought unnecessary to include that qualification on the basis that most people would realise that it was not intended to support anyone who might act illegally in that regard.
  20. An issue I suspect many of us will want to support. It is ridiculous that people can buy a new house close to an existing stadium and then take successful legal proceedings over the noise.
  21. MPT is a brilliant signing. Always gives 100%, never gives up and guaranteed to be a fans favourite. I hope he does really well, he's one of those riders who deserves to succeed.
  22. All any of us know is what was reported in the press and I certainly wouldn't want to rely on that either being accurate or detailing all of the evidence given. The fact is that a jury convicted him having heard all of the evidence and perhaps, more importantly, having had the benefit of seeing the witnesses, which enables a much better assessment of their veracity. They also would have had clear directions from the Judge on the law relating to rape. That is not to say that juries do not make mistakes but the vast majority of jury verdicts are not overturned. At the moment we do not even know if the Criminal Cases Review Commission will refer his case. However, regardless of that, my view is that Evans has served his time and should now be free to pursue his chosen career with whichever club is prepared to employ him. With regard to Charlie Webster, she is perfectly entitled to express her views and should not be vilified for doing so.
  23. Interesting that you don't see the smiley. I posted from my Google Nexus and whenever I insert a smiley it never appears when I first send the post and I have to edit it, reinsert the smiley and it does then appear in the post. However, having now looked at this particular post on my smartphone, there is a smiley but it is black and white, not yellow as shown when I look on my Nexus tablet. Anyone else have similar problems?
  24. Look again at my post #15, did you not see the smiley? It was meant as humorous comment.
  25. Obviously not a real fan 😉 . When the Aces were away I used to phone the away stadium after the match was over to get the result. Couldn't wait for the paper or teletext. Like many others I am just grateful for the service provided by Sue & Co. It is very much appreciated.
