Or maybe Rosco just thought Rose was a better option. Not unreasonable on their form last year.

I think between us we've cracked it.

I think I've just had a brainwave. Instead of Stokes effectively replacing Niels how about a system where all of the riders below Niels in the averages could take one of his rides. That will have much less of a detrimental affect on the team than the difference in class between a number one and a number eight. Bet no-one ever thought of that. You could call it rider replacement.

It must be me and I've only looked at Belle Vue but their overall points difference after 10 matches is -15 not -26.

Belle Vue Aces -v Poole "cheats" Pirates
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I understand that the SCB had prepared a press release to notify everyone that they were launching an immediate investigation into this attempt to circumvent the rules. They regarded it as a very serous matter and had already decided that, if true, the club involved would be fined £3000 and be prevented from choosing any guest riders without the prior authorisation of a referee for a period of two years. However, it has now been decided to shelve the matter, they had misunderstood and thought it involved a Belle Vue rider.- 134 replies

Belle Vue Aces -v Poole "cheats" Pirates
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
At least that has saved another farce. It will be interesting to see if Janowski will turn up for the rearranged fixture be a bit more difficult to find an excuse after this debacle. Then again maybe he won't be in the team by then. -
Belle Vue Aces -v Poole "cheats" Pirates

Nothing there that says he was forced to ride. Says he was committed to ride, just as he was for Poole tomorrow. I have never before known a situation where a rider has ridden in two meetings on consecutive days but declared before the second meeting that he will be unfit to ride in a third meeting the following day. He didn't even wait to see how his knee was on Sunday morning. He somehow knew it was not going to be so bad as to cause him to have to miss the Polish meeting but bad enough to have to miss Belle Vue. -
Belle Vue Aces -v Poole "cheats" Pirates
Aces51 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Harris certainly improves Poole. He is a Kirky Lane specialist and Janowski has rarely impressed. This had all the makings of a tight match. North, Holder as a second string, Watt and Newman can all score well at Belle Vue and Harris could swing the balance. Unfortunately, this is going to be yet another match stuck in the mire of controversy that seems too often to involve one club more than any other. The weather could be the winner. I hope it is. -
Wolves V King's Lynn Monday 18th May
Aces51 replied to Wolfsbane's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As I said, I certainly think he has potential and he will improve but assessing him at the time he got injured I don't believe he would achieve 7. He would get beaten too often by heat leaders and second strings like those I have mentioned. I accept it's purely a matter of opinion. -

I Of course I'm aware of the vagaries of the current system. However, the standard of riders at reserve and second string is generally higher this year than last. I am not convinced that a 4 point heat leader would average 7 as a second string. You have to be very poor to average such a low figure. I have seen Musielak ride, he has potential but he is not yet close to the standard of riders like King,Schlein, Lambert, Cook or Wells and riding as a second string, would be beaten by them more often than not. I was using the figure of 4 to make a point to Stevebrum, that it is a significant advantage to be able to replace him on his assessed average. Realistically and on current form, I would expect Musielak to average about 5.5 as a second string. -

Maybe not but many would be happy if he was named as a 4 point second string. That is what we are actually talking about when making comparisons to Musielak. -

But Musielak is a heat leader in name only. At the moment he is a poor second string so anyone who can do better than that is an advantage. -

Musielak looks as if he has potential but he is currently averaging just over 4. It can't be hard to find a guest who can achieve that but as has been said, r/r is a no brainer. -
I don't disagree and certainly Worrall should be used when the meeting is close. However, I think when the result is not close that you also have to have an eye to rider development. The more races they have the more likely the usually less experienced rider will progress.

Belle Vue V Swindon - 11/5/2015
Aces51 replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Overall the racing was poor but the scores kept it exciting and we had two good races. Well done to Swindon who perhaps deserved more than a solitary point although I think Zagar might have done something in heat 13 if he had not burnt out his clutch. The last race brought the house down And certainly sent the Aces fans home happy. That's two matches where the Aces have struggled on a dusty , slick home track which makes passing more difficult. I appreciate it was the forecast which dictated the lack of watering but perhaps lessons to be learned. -

The most relevant guide to current form is points gained versus points lost. Current standings are: Coventry +16 Poole +6 K Lynn +4 Wolves +3 Belle Vue +1 Swindon -3 Lakeside -8 Leicester -9 Other factors come into account such as who each team has currently raced and of course injuries but the above is a better guide than the standard league table. As for tonight. I am confident of an Aces win but it could be difficult if Cook is still not 100% and puts in a below par performance.

Surely if he was that interested he would do it himself.

Leicester V Coventry 9th May 2015
Aces51 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think you'll find there is a relatively recent precedent for doing exactly that. Apparently, it cheats the fans but only if it affects the home team. -
Whilst appreciating Rory's willingness to ride and that this is not an official competition, it is totally wrong. I would prefer we send a MDL Junior if that is the only British rider available/willing to ride.

Wolves Vs Pirates 04/may/2015
Aces51 replied to lino wolf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have no problem at all with Holder riding as a second string. The fact he is a recent World Champion is irrelevant. His form, proved by his average, shows there are 3 other riders in the team with a higher average, end of story. Edit: I now see that Watt's average increased from 6.71 to above Holder's whilst he was out injured. How did that happen? -
Poole Pirates Vs Belle Vue Aces 29/4/15
Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Unfortunately, it looks as if Richie's 2 points have proved my point. However, I don't blame him for not getting the win. He did his best and you can ask no more. It was the two EF's that cost us the third point. As for your comment that he was coming along nicely until Belle Vue got their hands on him, his even bigger drop in average for Ipswich would suggest it was not down to either of his clubs. For what it is worth, it was generally thought to be down to problems with his machinery. Overall, a brilliant result for the Aces. Poole may have been without Janowski but that was more than evened out by our loss of Stead and the two EF's -

Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
His EL rolling average dropped last year from 5.64 to 5.53 in an easier format for second strings. His PL average fell from 8.42 to 7.32. As for Belle Vue leaving him without an EL ride, I think you will find it was Richie who wanted a year away. Having said all of that I think Richie has talent and will improve and Belle Vue have said they anticipate he will be back with the Aces next year. What I am saying now is that there are riders who potentially could guest for Stead who are riding better than Richie at the moment and we should always use the best guest we can get. The club comes before any individual rider. I shall be delighted if Richie does well tonight but I doubt that many fans would think that on present form PK or Morris are not more likely to score more than Richie at Poole. -

Aces51 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not necessarily anything wrong with Richie, although his scores in the EL & PL last year and so far this year have not shown the progress some expected. My point is that the are riders under Simon's average who seem to be riding better than Richie and that we should use them if we want to win as many matches as possible. -
Lakeside V Coventry Friday 1/5/15
Aces51 replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Stead was in excellent form in the PL and had ridden much better in his most recent match for the Aces. Stead and Cook's average at Coventry is over 13 and their replacements scored 11 so doubtful it made us stronger.
