  1. For tonight I would have chosen from, Morris, Zengota,Bech, Kennett, and Karlsson, with PK being the best option. From the 1.5.15 using a horses for courses policy and subject to availability and willingness to ride, I would choose from, Schlein, Morris, Zengota, King, Bech, Grajczonek and PK.
  2. I understand and in some respects applaud loyalty to our own assets but if we are going to make something of this season we have to choose the best available to guest for Stead. I think there are better options out there who are, at the moment, riding better than Richie. I hope I am wrong.
  3. An enjoyable meeting with the Aces living up to pre season expectations. The track was prepared for the forecasted rain but even so not the gate and go racing some are reporting. There was passing after bend 2 lap 1 in heats 1,2,6,7,10,12 and 14. Cook was very determined and it was interesting to hear his comments on TV about having changed his engine tuner and support team. Zagar was impressive and Nielsen rode the best I have seen him this year and showed what he can do. North was a good choice of guest. For Kings Lynn, I wouldn't be too despondent. Iversen and Bjerre are obviously still affected by their injuries and Lambert is a joy to watch, a star of the future. I expected more from Kerr and Schlein but haven't seen enough of Porsing to make a judgement.
  4. It was the same with gate 4 at Brandon on Saturday. Perhaps it's a new rule that applies to matches involving the Aces.
  5. Do you not know that he is coming back from injury, nothing to do with bottle. Like many riders it has always taken him time to regain his confidence after an injury. He was the same when he rode for the Aces. However, I do agree that a good performance from from him could be a deciding factor. Likewise a poor performance fun North could swing the match in the Stars favour. Overall, I think we'll get the 3 points
  6. Not as much as we could do with the 3 😊 If Bjerre and Schlein score well it will be close but I think we can win this. Hopefully, the track will be prepared as it was for the Leicester match with a bit more dirt than we had last week.
  7. It's more relevant to look at who he beat. Kylmakorpi, King and Andersen all beat the Aces top two who were in heat 15, Zagar and Nicholls. King beat Nicholls twice. Harris beat Zagar but lost to Nicholls on the two occasions they met. On that basis Havelock arguably chose his strongest pairing in King and Kylmakorpi.
  8. I doubt that was the plan. If King had managed third Coventry would have had a 4-2, a net gain of 2 points. If that then allowed Belle Vue to use a tactical the biggest net gain they could achieve would have been 3 extra points. Would you really deliberately lose 2 definite points because of a risk that the opposition might then gain 3?
  9. Zagar and Nicholls had just scored a 4-2 over Andersen and Harris in heat 13 and as had been pointed out, they had, in total, scored no more than King and Kylmakorpi. It was a perfectly reasonable decision to put the latter two in heat 15 based on their performance. I take the comments from the Coventry management about their charitable intentions as being intended as no more than a joke and perhaps an attempt to try to cover up the fact that their decision didn't work out. No team is going deliberately to gift another team a point. The suggestions about helping them to get into the play offs is ridiculous. Nobody can anticipate at this stage of the season what the position will be in September. Hopefully, not but by then teams may have been decimated by injuries or riders been replaced making a team much stronger.
  10. Nothing mighty about the Bees tonight. No outstanding riders on either side but solid performances from virtually everyone. Even Nielsen, who scored only one point, was on the pace. The decision in heat 15 was not as surprising as some seem to feel. King and Kylmakorpi had scored as many as Harris and Andersen and on the night were riding just as well as those two. It was like being at Belle Vue for the first 7 heats with gate 4 providing 6 winners. Overall, a decent match with some good racing on a smooth track. The main difference in the two sides was the reserves. Coventry coming out on top by 13-8.
  11. Fans!!! No wonder some riders like it there.
  12. Same as I said about Monday. Coventry win if the Bees reserves outscore their Aces counterparts by more than 6. In reality I'm expecting the difference between them will be more than 6.
  13. You can't win with some speedway fans. Belle Vue had a new trackside announcer on Monday and some fans were on his back straightaway. Perhaps they forget that most people starting a new job need time to settle in. Time will tell if he is any good but not immediately after his first match. I saw Peter York at the Wolves, Belle Vue match but assumed he was just standing in.
  14. Coventry were dominant throughout and fully deserved their victory. Most races were won from the gate but Harris in heats 11 and 13 and Cook in heat 8 showed what could be done if you went out into the dirt. Garrity deserved his maximum and showed more maturity in his racing than I have seen before and Sarjeant deserved more than 3 points. For the Aces, Zagar was disappointing, Nicholls and Cook tried hard, Grajczonek didn't score as many as Simon would have done and our reserves lost out 7-15. I think this Coventry side will take some stopping.
  15. Looking forward to seeing Robbo, always gives 100%.I think Josh G for Simon is about even. It's going to be a close match as will the return on Friday, providing we use Schlein and Howarth for Simon and Cookie.
  16. I think Coventry will have the advantage at reserve, Garrity is a track specialist and Sarjeant is riding well. However, even though Andersen and Harris are also Belle Vue specialists, I think we have the stronger 1-5 at home. Overall, I think Coventry will go away without a point unless they outscore us at reserve by 6 or more.
  17. Not sure where you are coming from but is anybody suggesting that he lost races on purpose or wasn't trying? It was one of those nights, which all riders have from time to time. His record when guesting speaks for itself. As I said, I am expecting to see a much better performance on his next visit, not because he wasn't doing his best last night but because he is a better rider than that.
  18. If he was trying things out none of them worked. Rory was very poor but he is plainly a better rider than he showed last night. I am expecting him to do much better when he visits with King's Lynn.
  19. I doubt anyone who went tonight will think they didn't get more than good value for their money. Some fantastic racing, Nicholls was outstanding, Cook back to his best chasing and passing Schlein and Doyle in heat 6, Fricke showing what a prospect he is and Zagar worth the entrance fee alone in heats 11 and 13. Stead was solid and Worrall and Nielsen did what was expected of them. For Leicester, Doyle was disappointing, apart from heat 1, Auty showed his liking for Kirky Lane and was impressive and Howarth was their outstanding rider, good to see a young Brit doing well. The rest were poor, Schlein obviously thought he had to pretend to be Pedersen. I hope Walasek's soon recovers from his injury. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable meeting moved along at a good pace with the only delay following Walasek's injury while the paramedics were treating him.
  20. I can only see a Belle Vue win but looking forward to seeing the 2015 Aces at home for the first time this season. Hopefully, we shall see some good racing and no injuries.
  21. But more than enough when he will be available. Madness to go without him and Cook, a Leicester specialist and former track record holder.
  22. Congratulations to Wolves, the best team on the night won and good to see PK in the points again. Not too disappointed with the Belle Vue performance. The top 5 all had their moments, the real difference was at reserve. Worrall and Blackbird were fairly equal but Bates outscored Nielsen 6 - 0. Gate 4 was a graveyard. I think both teams can take something from this match. Wolves were perhaps expecting a closer match but as mentioned PK rolled back the years and Musielak showed enough make me think he will be ok given the time to settle in. The Aces can take comfort from Zagar, Nicholls and Cook all showing we are going to fight for the points this year, Fricke, that he will do ok at this level and Worrall that he will hold his own with the other first tier reserves. Stead worked hard for his points and hopefully, this was just a bad match for Nielsen.
  23. Will you save me a place as won't be able to travel down until after the Wolves match tonight.
  24. Apologies, maybe we both missed them for the same reason. I looked at the foreign maps because it was interesting to see where each track is geographically situated but not the UK maps as I pretty much know which part of the country to find Swindon, Coventry etc. Perhaps the point is that it may be more appropriate to include or, repeat the postcodes with the detailed travel instructions. I suspect that is where most fans will look first when planning their journey.
