No Grajczonek for Belle Vue,not sure about Nielsen, he is an EL asset, so presumably he rides.
-
Surely, the point is simple. If Coventry make the play offs then they would have made it without this debacle. If at the end of the season they would have made a profit of £X thousand, with the loss from this match it will be £X thousand minus that loss. However you look at it that loss will not be made up.

I don't think I would be very pleased in Horton's position. No club, well perhaps Poole if they had one rider missing, is going to cancel a meeting more than 48 hours beforehand. After that time it was in the hands of Go Speed and Sky and Horton had no say. That might just be acceptable if he didn't bear any financial risk but he did. We saw the conditions at Brandon and matches at Wolverhampton and Bell Vue had already been called off. The match should not have started with the forecast of heavy rain and strong winds. Who can blame him for feeling aggrieved if the result of decisions made by others results in a substantial financial loss to him and a farce which reflects badly on Coventry speedway. I just hope for the fans that he reflects on his comments when things are calmer and feels able to continue at EL level.

That's just silly. I've heard it's a double decker track so we can run EL and NL matches simultaneously with the added advantage that the top track is effectively a roof over the lower track.
-
I think you're exaggerating! Most fans would only want him incarcerated for life. The match was yet another farce with this determination to get to heat 10 regardless of rider safety. It does seem ridiculous that a track fit for racing in heat 10 becomes immediately unfit after that race despite virtually no difference in the conditions. However you look at it, it is ripping off the fans to appease Sky/Go Speed. The fault here lies with the SCB Steward who lacked the courage to make an obvious decision. So far as I know, he was the only person with the authority to call it off. His comment that it was unfair to raise the issue of rider safety and to point out his responsibilities speaks volumes. Poole simply took advantage of the situation, as would any other team.

Rumour has it that a certain Mr Blatter wad involved in the allocation of that meeting so it is now going out to fresh bids and likely to be held at the NSS in 2016.

Poole V Kings Lynn - Wednesday 3rd June.
Aces51 replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
An enjoyable match to watch on TV with some good races despite the scoreline. Magic lived up to his nickname and Lambert showed what an excellent prospect he is, just hope he is ok after that frightening crash. -
You won't be popular in Dorset. The commonly held view there is that matches should continue until a result can be declared even in monsoon conditions. The only provisos are that it must be an away match, Poole must be the opposition and they must be winning.

Very sad and even Newman seems to be going through a difficult spell. As for Belle Vue, I think we have done ok. Worrall is doing what was expected and Nielsen, after a difficult start, seems to have found some good form both for us and for Ipswich. It will be interesting to see what happens next year if some step up into the 1-5. One rider who seems to have missed out is Richie Worrall, if he gets his chance next year the Aces will be able to protect him but it depends on what is happening to Steve.

It was worse than that this year. Clubs could protect a rider they had used the previous year even if he wasn't an asset ie.Garrity at Coventry which, as I have pointed out before meant the advantage they gained from first pick in 2014 carried on through to 2015 despite the fact they had finished much higher up in 2014. The continuation of that formula will mean very few tier one riders will be available for the bottom club to choose.

It has anyways been a mystery to me why they get such poor crowds at the EOES.
-
Not a win I take great delight in but we're not the first team to take advantage of rider absences. I do wonder if Lakeside are now regretting not agreeing to Belle Vue's request to rearrange the fixture. However, it is possible we would have won with our regular 1-7.

Both Belle Vue and Wolves have reported that they have been told when trying to sign riders that Monday is a problem because of the effects of having to travel from Poland on a Monday then get an early flight to Sweden on a Tuesday. Belle Vue are going to move to Friday with Wednesday as an alternative on GP weekends. People are more inclined to spend at a weekend and to be less concerned about a late night for children.

He could always do what Peter Collins did in the 1973 KO Cup Final after breaking his wrist. He simply moved the clutch lever to the other side and had the clutch and throttle together.
-
My memory is probably worse than yours but I don't think it was anything to do with a party and I think we had at least one, if not two, Belle Vue riders. I thought we'd asked Eastbourne to rearrange it but they refused. I also understand that Belle Vue have tried to rearrange tonight's fixture but that it wasn't possible. Don't know why. Monday is also one of the reasons many riders don't want to race here. They think it is too much with Poland on a Sunday and Sweden on Tuesday.

I agree that weekend racing is difficult with all of the various international commitments but surely it is not beyond the wit of someone even reasonably intelligent to arrange a fixture list that avoids more PL fixture clashes and events like the world u21's. We know it is unavoidable for injuries but the BSPA have got to realise that the excessive use of guests for avoidable reasons is one of the major reasons the sport is in difficulties.

Wolves V Lakeside Hammers 25/05/15
Aces51 replied to ShropWolf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bit of a puzzle then why that supposedly perfectly good product is also failing to bring in the crowds. -
The farce of this year's pick was to use PL averages for the grading, when most had a more relevant EL average and to allow clubs to keep an existing rider even if he wasn't an asset. Coventry were allowed to protect Garrity, so were able to gain a double advantage merely because they finished bottom in 2013. This year Leicester should have been able to pick him.
