  1. 100% agree. Just Speedway on the Isle is very expensive. To be a regular from England you need some serious money, the promotion should be interacting with it's punters. 100% the promoter's in the rest of the UK don't know their market. No advertising, promoting etc anywhere & then dish out the "use it or lose it" nonsense when nobody turns up. IOW do a great job, no doubt, but they do have a huge advantage over other tracks.
  2. You need to point the finger at the BSPA. They've created the problems. It would be absolutely crazy of our youngsters not to give Poland a go. It will leave us way behind if we don't join in & push themselves against the best of their age group regularly. Maybe British Speedway should market itself as the Golden Oldies League. Over 35's only
  3. Firstly, it won't wipe out Speedway, didn’t happen when the UK was once the dominant force. It's the promoter's here that are doing their own unreversable damage. Our young rider's disappearing to Poland to try & make a name for themselves is exactly the point of a youth policy. We need superstars, bringing riders through to roll around in British Speedway does absolutely nothing for them. Saying all that, I don't think this program is aimed at young Brits. I'd imagine they'll pick out the better chances from Sweden, Denmark & Germany imo. These kids are better race ready at 15-16 than Brit's.
  4. I do think they have a great market corner. Daytrippers & holiday makers don't have much to do on the island, speedway is a good distraction attraction. To get a good feel of how thing's work, we need to see another 1 or 2 club copy IOW's model over a season or 2. Somewhere like Berwick & Newcastle, financially struggling clubs would be an interesting ones. Absolute polar opposites to IOW. What works for IOW probably wouldn't work anywhere else.
  5. Exactly this. We've had so many 'talented youngsters' over recent years but none have ever cut it. Lambert has only got to where he is because of his early start in Germany. Bewley has done well, mostly because he's beside Woffy. He'd of been binned of by Wroclaw had he not borrowed some of Woffy's equipment. Apart from these 2, whose done any good? The last 2 Brit's of any substance on the continent has been Nicholls & Richardson. I'm hoping Ellis can kick on next year but really needs to drop the Championship & push for Poland & Sweden full time being 25. We've got to be real. Our rider's have no big future as the sport in this country is on it's backside & there's no real climb for them. Doesn't matter how hard the likes of Vatcher works, our kids need to be away from uk racing to have a real career.
  6. It's a bit of a myth that Glasgow v Edinburgh is a money spinner. Attendances at these matches ain't what's keeping the clubs alive. Glasgow could certainly survive without Edinburgh, in the same way Edinburgh always financially struggling even with Glasgow
  7. The question was, are thing's looking more hopeful for the future?? For me, that's asking who will make it at the highest level, and be competitive for Britain on the international stage. I'm sorry, it's none of them except possibly Rowe imo. We can see young Pole's, Swede's & Dane's plying their trade against the very best in the World, even in these tough times. Our young Brit's are racing against rider's that can't cut it abroad. Be honest with yourself
  8. Had a little think about the situation & actually can't blame Sheffield for their tactics. They do have 4 matches in hand on Ipswich & every remaining fixture is a possible lose. They want to give themselves every possible chance of securing that final top 4 spot. King's Lynn wins home & away will give them that nailed on. If any finger pointing should be done, it's at the match referee for not being stronger willed to get the meeting on.
  9. For me, it's the worst it's ever been for our youngsters. The standard of rider to race against isn't anywhere near where it needs to be. These guys currently have false hope, when it really matters on the international scene they'll be left way way behind. Apart from Anders Rowe I really think the future looks absolutely awful
  10. Depends on the set up. 1 big league can only be viable if they can get at least 40+ meetings a season
  11. Maybe King but the rest are Championship standard. They should be the heatleaders at that level
  12. I doesn't matter who owns who. We're talking about rider standards, none of the rider's listed are Championship standard, they're all higher level choosing to double down. Poole own a wealth of rider's, doesn't make them all Championship standard because they're in that league
  13. Absolute nonsense. Cook has been a regular top league heat leader since 2011. Sam Masters same since 2016. This issue has been that they've been allowed to continue in the 2nd tier, they've not push themselves fully abroad. Some of the below are on the Helter-Skelter I accept that but they're still better than the standards that should be allowed in the Champs All the below are 'Doubling Down', not 'Doubling Up' Hans Andersen Troy Batchelor Craig Cook Jason Crump Adam Ellis Chris Harris Sam Masters Scott Nicholls Bjarne Pedersen Rory Schlein
  14. Actually it is. Those likely to win the PRC are Prem rider's being allowed to double down. There's not 1 rider of Champ standard going to win the PRC
  15. Absolutely not supported by me. I am really concerned though with Woffinden & Lambert, seriously lacking speed in the GP's but I can't see Ellis & Bewley's equipment being any better racing at that level. Put Ellis & Bewley in the SON & we finish last it may do untold damage to them & the youngsters following. Currently, Woffinden & Lambert are the rider's the youngsters should be looking up to, to be as good as if not better. Not Bewley & Ellis currently.
  16. Explain? This was the British Final for a start, nothing to do with leagues.
  17. Booooooooob the builder....... Sorry, thought you were up for a sing song
  18. This thread has got more pages than if the meeting had gone ahead, the future of Speedway
  19. Hans at reserve will be the difference. 50+ for Peterborough
  20. Clearly not accurate but it's what they have on the SGP website
