  1. I'm no fan of Chapman, & his part in the winter of discontent still hurts, however I try and put that to one side and judge him on his actions as chairman. The bottom line here is that he is on a hiding to nothing, there are so many areas of the sport that need major attention that he won't get everything right during his time in charge. The best he can hope for is that he can make a start at getting things on an even keel. To do that he needs to get a properly thought out fixture list that people can plan around , add to that he needs to break the stranglehold that the riders have over the promoters to ensure that they turn up and compete for the teams they sign up for. His recent actions suggest to me that he is beginning to understand that. If he makes it that far & achieves nothing else, he could consider himself more successful than many of his predecessors.
  2. Well there you go Steve Zero make what you will from that post. Seems there is still plenty of room for debate.
  3. He had a certificate , but I think there is plenty of room for debate. I accept he won't be punished, however I believe he knew the consequences of his actions when withdrawing, so covered his "rear" with a certificate, which seem to be handed out like confetti in the world of speedway.
  4. A very debatable injury too . Based on the fact he was perfectly fit the following night. Escaped his due punishment on a technicality IMO.
  5. Pity his partner in crime managed to scrounge his medical certificate, otherwise he could have received his 28 days too
  6. Not quite right, August to March is 8 months . If we assume his 28 day ban is added on to that he won't be available to a UK club until April . That would make the period quoted. Hardly a 9 month ban though is it.? Unless of course there is something happening that we are not aware of yet.
  7. You're right, but with all the extra time he has on his hands now he could make a bit of a holiday out of it.Perhaps he could invite his buddy to go along also as he has some free time on his hands too
  8. Well with plenty of time on his hands nowadays there's nothing to prevent him going there .
  9. Two guys cause turmoil at their club ,because they can't get their way they decide they no longer want to ride. Now they're not, problem solved,
  10. You wouldn't expect him to say anything else given his actions that night. But then again you have an interest in this so it's hardly an unbiased observation.
  11. If a rider presents himself to first aid their job is to offer assistance, that is what they are trained to do. An ice pack would be just a precaution. If you look around speedway there are guys competing with dodgy shoulders, plated collarbones, knees with braces ,damaged hands and strapping all over their bodies. Batchelors concern... a swelling of the wrist, something that was so serious that he managed to compete the following evening and help himself to a load of points. I'm sure that i read somewhere that he packed up his kit , showered and changed, & left the stadium while the meeting was continuing which is difficult to defend in my book. As for the punishment fitting the crime, well ... I suppose it depends who you believe is in the wrong. Two riders who tried to dictate to their employer and the referee what was going to happen, and when their attempts failed to bring the result they demanded they decided to " take their ball home" . Seems to me their punishment was well earned, and hopefully it will be a step in the right direction in an attempt to rid the sport of the huge issue it has with riders calling all of the shots.
  12. I can't be sure if it's a case of you not able or not prepared to see what is going on here. I doubt the team changes were done for any other reason other than to get a team of riders that were prepared to turn up and race, the real issue was about ensuring that these two guys were punished for their antics at a meeting which resulted in two officials of the club resigning and the team manager carted off to hospital with what appears to be health issues caused by severe stress. Any fair minded person would surely accept that the actions of the riders was way out of order ,and it demanded some positive action from the club don't you think? You go on about a vindictive promoter, I would suggest the two riders were the the vindictive ones and the fact that they are out of british speedway for the rest of the season should be a wake up call for both of them. Hopefully, given their subsequent outbursts on the social network a bit more of punishment will be heading their way shortly.
  13. I suppose it could be argued that given that a number of "fickle/stupid" Poole posters on here have multi aliases the situation might not be as bad as it appears at first.
  14. I guess you could say that there is such a thing as bringing a sport into disrepute ( I know that's difficult when you look at this sport's admin) . If you just consider the Joey Barton situation , he stepped out of line suffered a long ban and got sacked so he can't play for anyone for a while. The same could be applied to these two riders, give them a ban and stop them working in british speedway for a while,as self employed guys they can go elsewhere and earn their wages .
  15. It's good to see that some can understand where KL are at this moment. I'm sure that very few expected the team to be any stronger after the changes made recently, but the important point in all of this is that all of the riders that competed last night will be getting their pay cheque shortly. Holder & Batchelor will have no need to wait in for their post to arrive.
  16. Their continuing outbursts say so much about them as individuals, in a well run sport they would be heading for long bans by now for their outrageous comments.
  17. As I stated previously on another thread , perhaps this incident has caused the promoters to get their respective heads together and pull in the same direction for once. The sport is heading downwards at a rapid rate so we must hope that this is a turning point as positive & sensible decision making will give the majority of fans a big lift I'm sure.
  18. I know it is going back a few years but does anyone recall Tommy Turner AKA Synikalle plus numerous other aliases? Another south coast based poster who was a bit of a computer whizz if I remember. There were new names popping up all over the forum and everyone was a pirate fan, come to think of it , very similar to what's going on at present.
  19. Well when you are capable of intellectual debate get back to me and we'll give it a try.
  20. If that's the case then I apologise. But I'd need some hard evidence to be satisfied.
  21. And what about all of your aliases, were they DW fans too?
  22. And quite intimidating that is too. A party of us were over in Bydgoszcz for a GP some time ago and we decided to drive up to Pila on the Sunday for a league match. On entry we were escorted to one of these pens and told to stay there. I think the word must have got around that some brits were in the stadium as we were invited to go to the seating area and allowed to sit alongside the club officials who gave us the "royal treatment".
  23. And if riders were allowed to to conduct themselves in the manner that these two guys did without repercussion, you would have the same end result.
  24. Where your argument falls flat is that there are hard and fast rules over safety guards on machinery which everyone understands. No such thing exists in speedway, the fact that two riders walked out on their team but the rest continued to complete the meeting tends to weaken the argument for the offenders , don't you think
