  1. I popped up to Belle Vue last night. Spent a very enjoyable evening there watching a very good race meeting and being " entertained" by a very funny "Chase The Ace" , I'm just wondering how long it will be before someone gets upset by something he does whilst keeping the crowd entertained and he disappears from the scene.
  2. I used to listen to Yorkie back in the late 60's early 70's when he worked for what was then Radio Birmingham, later to become Radio WM. The problem is that he is still using the same material that he used all that time ago. I suppose some might say that his M O is perfect for speedway as it fits in with the promoters approach to the sport.
  3. So in your world it's important to keep an announcer under control in order to minimize the risk of a fine, but the same promoters can carry on trading , moving around different tracks leaving debts to riders , stadium owners, and other parties unpaid. In my view your priorities are in the wrong place. But then I can't say I'm surprised, I think I'll stick with my Sh**t for brains thinking thanks.
  4. I expected that if anyone responded to my post it would be you, doing your policing of the forum as usual. There are plenty of people involved in running this sport doing a lot more damage than Chris Simpson could ever do. Take a look at the state the sport is in currently and consider whether he was a major offender.
  5. What a sad indictment of speedway officialdom that is . Do they realise we are now in the 21st century I wonder?
  6. A decent guy who made Coventry and Perry Barr much better places to attend with his very clever music and centre green work. Unfortunately he managed to upset the " establishment" and that was the end of his good work at the speedway. Yet another case of the BSPA being stuck in the 1950's with their thinking.
  7. No it isn't the article suggested that there might be civil action, not that there would be.
  8. It will be a shame if it takes that long.
  9. Could be good for business too, with some bees fans looking for their speedway fix.
  10. Do you have a brain that functions.?
  11. No idea, sorry. Just commenting on a press release. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/15172667.It_s_a_deal__Pirates_boss_Ford_to_look_for_fresh_talent_after_sealing_new_title_sponsor/?ref=ar
  12. According to MF in tonights Echo , he had virtually accepted that he would start the season without a team sponsor. It was only in the last few days that the deal with the Volvo dealership was sorted, so it would seem the other three alleged parties weren't quite as interested as claimed.
  13. I think it did effectively finish one club. It's just been a very slow death.
  14. If that's the case, then why can't we be told ? After all Horton is out of speedway now isn't he , so no fears about upsetting the establishment. Unless of course he has plans to re -appear somewhere else and do his usual job on yet another club.
  15. But it wasn't always in that condition was it? We were told many times that Mick Horton had a deal in place to lease the stadium, indeed we were also told that the stadium owners were prepared to sponsor him by way of a reduction in his rent. It was always obvious that in order for the stadium to operate it would be necessary for a deal to be struck with the stox, and we were told several times that meetings had taken place , deals were agreed and then reneged upon. IMO he was never going to be able to run that stadium, the costs were just too great for him, if you remember he was one of the promoters who attended the last BSPA agm demanding a cut in costs because he couldn't afford to run his team. Not the words one would expect to hear from someone who allegedly was about to take on the lease of a very expensive stadium. The bottom line is that he was the owner of the speedway club and had responsibilities to his fan base to give them an explanation. All we heard was that he had lost 200k and was angry, also he was standing down so that others could take up the fight to save the club. He might have lost some money but the supporters of the bees have lost so much more.
  16. Spot on, I'm sure everyone would like to hear some honest answers why he and his fellow promoter failed to get a team on track at brandon this year.
  17. Except that he didn't invest 200k on a three year venture, he bought in in 2011.
  18. you have been telling us for weeks it was nothing to do with sandhu. It was all Brandon Estates doing. It's about time you came to a decision on what you believe and stick with itThis is the wrong time to throw brickbats, it requires patience to allow for things to settle down and then hopefully something positive can come from all of this

  20. You never know, they might use Peter York as a "double upper".
  21. I have no doubt that the fans would be quite happy to contribute if they were sure that their money was being used for the purpose described. In the case of the NSSC everyone was happy that the funds were being looked after properly. In Horton's case, I doubt many would have the same confidence.
  22. I think we might have got through the "war at the AGM" if that had been the end of the dirty tricks from some of the other promotions. However the situation continued into 2011 ,and I believe the way Ford underhandedly used his position to pull yet another stroke with his action regarding P Kildemand was the final straw for Sandhu. I agree that selling to Horton was a massive error, and anyone who has been around speedway for a decent time period would know that.
