  1. Really? Lynn can be over grippy, too grippy on the inside and occasionly overwatered but I can't remember the last time it wasn't smooth and consistent.
  2. Fantastic to see a young British laddie tearing it up.
  3. Ah, the old Steve Shovlar style 'pretend we haven't got a chance so we can trumpet even louder when we win' tactic from the Embra contingent.
  4. Robert Lambert has a fantastic racing brain, take our from somebody who had seen him ride regularly over the last three seasons.
  5. I think Rob has looked disillusioned for two or three years now, wouldn't be surprised if this is his last.
  6. Home meetings would be far more regular than they are now though. I think 50% is a bit excessive, of course every league has teams which struggle but the majority would come and put on a good show. Don't think you'd get many 60+ scores if the track was prepared to give everyone a chance to race, which it rarely was in our previous PL spell. And rider absences would be far fewer. Plus we'd get three local derbies. To be honest I think it's moot as I can't see us dropping back down anyway.
  7. All Robert Lambert is missing is good gating, he has everything else in his locker. Better to judge him on what he has achieved in a variety of tracks against top quality opposition rather than a couple of meetings on one particular circuit. He really needs to sort his gating out though or he will never realise his massive potential.
  8. Quite interesting because I pick and choose now in the EL and probably wouldn't in the PL. As they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time.
  9. Wow. Something is wrong when PL is more expensive than EL.
  10. I'm always curious about how or why people think that riders aren't putting in the effort with all the other variables that are present in speedway. The bottom line is that points mean money, even if they were riding for themselves and not fussed about the team winning I don't see them travelling to Swindon and not be bothered to earn some money. While I understand that people care about the club and are frustrated about the season, continually bringing up what happened the other Wednesday isn't going to help anyone move forward, and the 'from what I've heard' stuff could be nonsense just easily as truth. The truth is that we are an average team and are going to lose plenty of meetings, it's more likely to be that we aren't good enough than that we don't give a monkeys. Personally I'd rather see us in the PL than EL next season given the choice, I think it would suit the club better right now and that with our asset base we could track a title challenging side. And yes, I know the racing was crap a lot of the time during our previous PL spell but to me it's straightforward, don't load the track with so much dirt. It would give the club a bit of fresh impetus with more regular fixtures and a greater variety of fixtures, plus the bonus of the 'novelty' events.
  11. We aren't a very good team, simple as that. Don't think that tonight demonstrated anything ground-breaking or what we didn't already know.
  12. I don't really see what benefit Belle Vue get by giving Poole two practice meetings on their track so close to the Play Offs.
  13. Precisely, would say he was a poor choice of guest seeing as he's had one meeting after a long lay off.
  14. Nothing on Swindons website about their team either. Does anything need to be said until the day before? I'm not so sure.
  15. Don't disagree but I would say that good speedway on a bigger, faster circuit will always be more thrilling to watch than good speedway on a smaller, tighter and ultimately slower track. Nothing quite like seeing riders going at it hammer and tongs flat out on a huge wide speedway track.
  16. The rules in the programme say that tactical rides aren't permitted in heats 17-20 yet Freddie replaced Lindback in heat 19. BSI cock up?
  17. Robert says himself in the SWC programme that it's probably a couple of years too early to qualify for the GP's.But if he does what a fantastic experience it will be. All he is missing is his gating and experience, everything else is in his locker.
  18. Wow, fantastic meeting tonight, chalk and cheese from last night. Poland thoroughly deserved winners. Team GB exceeded my expectations especially after a poor start. Think Robert deserved his spot by what he has achieved this season but his inexperience and inability to gate really showed tonight, easy to forget that he is only eighteen years and three months but his gating needs sorting very soon if he is going to be world class in the future. Finally unlucky darts Mr Doyle
  19. General speedway experience. Didn't work out but without hindsight was a sensible call. With hindsight Kurtz probably would have scored more but would they really have finished any higher?
  20. No brainer to go with Josh G's experience.
  21. Fair enough, first time I've been and thought it needed a bit more dirt out wide which is basically what you are saying. During the grading breaks the spike & roller tractor kept 'livening up' the inside line when leaving it alone and concentrating on the outside might have been better. I don't think the gulf in quality between some of the riders helped either. EDIT just seen you've said the same in #830 The great thing about Peterborough is the lack of straights and the fact that it is a massive circle. Somerset very similar and I think these kind of tracks give the best racing.
  22. Fantastic view on the back straight but unfortunately the racing wasn't great, track far too smooth and slick. Shame as the track has fantastic dimensions and has huge potential. IMO the SWC this year has been very poor so far for racing, nowhere near enough passing across the three rounds. Hopefully there will be a bit more dirt down tomorrow and the final will make up for the action so far.
