  1. I remember that, and that at the time Mr Ribbons said that the Lynn promotion 'hadn't heard the last of it'. It would be nice to hear the BSPA's side of the Mildy situation.
  2. Burmeister may be no better than the Brit options like Branney, T Allen, Clews etc but they have been tried and tested at PL level and have proved that they are more than likely not good enough for the EL. Burmeister may well be out of his depth too but Wolves obviously believe he is worth the risk. Before we can demand that EL and even PL teams should contain X amount of Brits we need to sort out under 15 speedway so that the standard increases in the NL and there is an eventual conveyor belt of talent. Just look how good young Scandinavians and Aussies are when they come over here, and its because they have organised and regular racing long before they get on a 500cc bike. This is not to criticise those who work hard for the under 15's currently, they can only work with what they are given. The authorities need to pull their collective finger out and give them an infrastructure to work with, and hopefully in a few years we'll have more British reserves in the EL.
  3. Is that a new rule then? Cos Craig Cook was P'boro's number eight last year while also riding for Worky & Buxton.
  4. Rayson belongs to Ipswich so may have other plans. Courtney gone to Leicester on a full transfer. Campos reportedly fell out with the promotion so no surprise if he doesn't return. Naylor would appear to have been ruled out with the signing of two new reserves. Injuries apart its a bit of a mystery why he hasn't kicked on over the last two seasons. McDade may not be fit for the start of the season anyway after his leg break? Widman was a bit part player last year so may be a squad member again. Of course the club may have had a good look at any these riders and decided that the potential isn't there and that its time to bring in new blood. Or some may have accepted better offers elsewhere. I would expect somebody like Lambert or Roynon to lead the team if available.
  5. According to the Speedway Star today Tom Stokes and Lewis Blackbird will line up at reserve for the new season. Presumably Lewis Kerr, Jake Knight, Adam Lowe and Darren Mallett will also line up leaving just one spot to fill at number one?
  6. More Wednesday NL meetings means I'll be able to attend more often
  7. My apologies Mike, skimmed that post rather than reading it properly For me it was a choice, both in terms of £'s and time, between following the Stars away or the NL team at home. I've not been to West Row since the Chapmans parted company at the end of 2008. I saw the Young Stars twice and both meetings were enjoyable but history will show that ever since we've had a third tier side people would generally rather follow the EL or PL team instead. No doubt if the NL team were the only side running at the NA then the crowds would be much bigger.
  8. If you are going to compare the Young Stars to a NCFC team then surely it would be the reserves or youth team
  9. True Lorna, although I do have sympathy with the promotion. I can't see how they are expected to come out with an official statement every time somebody gets their knickers in a twist over a rumour on the Facebook page.....if they did they'd have very little time for anything else!
  10. Totally hear where you are coming from Mike but for me people who decide in November that they won't go to watch their team next season should they go EL simply aren't proper King's Lynn fans. And I would imagine that those minimum 60 people who don't come will be replaced by at least that many who haven't been since Lynn went down in 2003, as well as Ippo and P'boro fans who feel the same about their club's demotion / closure (fingers crossed it doesn't come to the latter). I don't really have a preference between EL and PL to be honest as long as the 2011 Stars are competitive, but what really gets up my nose is people who are not open to change, especially when many facts about the possible change are unknown.
  11. I find it really irritating when people question why I and others don't attend more NL matches. The fact is that its expensive to follow the Stars home and sometimes away, AND support the Young Stars, as well as taking up a lot of time. If we end up racing EL next season and there are spare dates on Wednesdays for whatever reason (SWC etc) then I hope the Young Stars run on these Wednesdays as I'm sure that I and several other Lynn supporters would attend.
  12. Don't disagree with what you are saying, we know that there are several of the world's top stars who don't ride over here. Sure the EL has its issues but its still the highest division in British speedway and some of the world's best race in it. And if the Stars go for it with a competitive team then who is to say it won't work out? As I've said on other threads its best to keep an open mind.
  13. I can't imagine that we've signed an entire EL team in a week. Must be staying PL.
  14. If there are sensitive negotiations happening then it wouldn't be prudent of them to release details in the press. We just have to be patient, people. Anybody would think we were a month away from tapes up, not four!
  15. Not all of us are against it.....as long as we are competitive I'm open to the idea.
  16. Andrew, thats the most sensible thing posted on here all day. Probably all year in fact. Not sure what to make of it all to be honest. Will wait for official announcements I think.
  17. Even though Andrew E is nothing but a moaning minnie he's got a point as that team would come in at around two points under the limit. Swap J-Lo for Richard Sweetman however and it'd be 0.01 under
  18. I wouldn't mind if he was as it would mean a rock solid team and probably represents the only way we could have Emiliano back. In theory if Tom was number one we could also have Schrammy, Lasse, Emiliano, Adam and Kozza and still have nearly five points for the other reserve.
  19. This really should be a comfortable win for Buxton over the two legs but it will be interesting to see how the Young Stars handle the pressure of a final. Will be great experience for the likes of Jake & Lewis. Looking forward to the second leg next Wednesday.
  20. I'm certainly not Gollob's biggest fan but he has deserved it this year. Brilliant stuff from Bomber tonight no surprise of course that he has done much better this year with generally more dirt around but its great to have a Brit in the world's top eight on merit
  21. You answered your own question.....Harris should have been on the Joker in that earlier ride that he blitzed. We were shouting at the TV for Lyon to do so. but no - The law of the sod meant that Harris won the races either side of his Joker ride and ended up on his backside for the double points race. Team GB did as well as could be expected. Respectable 4th place was the best we could hope for before the meeting and that's what we got! Edit - Bagpuss left the laptop logged in....post was actually by Jenn!! I'll be in bother when he realises I've lost where he was up to in this thread....!!
