  1. The idea has its merits, perhaps cheaper up keep for riders. That said I've watched the A1GP stuff which is based on standard cars (with limited team tuning etc) and the racing is dull. I also think it would be very difficult to police. What happens when the engine goes for its first maintenance?
  2. And I guess you think this would be bad. Why?
  3. V interesting. You write that other sports have standard out the box equipment, which ones are you thinking of? How would we control the 'sealed' element of the proposal?
  4. Not sure I understand this one completely. How would this work? How would it improve speedway?
  5. Apologies I don't think I explained my point well enough. I'd want no averages so that you could bring in any class of rider.
  6. True, my point being is to take away subjective issues. No averages, would mean you can bring in any class of rider.
  7. I think this fact still keeps some of the arguments over averages.. i.e. one person's interpretation of heat leader is 7.00 others it may be 8.5... etc How do you rate a foreign newcomer?
  8. How would you decide who is a heat leader, Second string etc?
  9. We all have our thoughts on what is wrong with speedway and can be quite vociferous in venting them on this forum. How about a thread that offers up all our ideas (hopefully with the emphasis on the positive...) on how to improve sppedway It doesn't have to be a grand thought out plan, or necessarily restricted to league speedway just your ideas on any aspect of speedway... you never know the promoters that read this forum might just take on one of our ideas... So I'll set the ball rolling. For starters get away from using averages to build each new season's team. There is too much controversy, time and effort revolving around them. IMO we should just have a free for all but am also not averse to using a system similar to that in Poland (which I think is something along these lines). Your reserves have to be under 21, thereby keeping the life blood of speedway going Maximum number of GP riders is 2 Minimum number of local riders (i.e. UK) in your team 2 or 3. I also feel that UK speedway teams should be allowed to construct a squad system, which they turn to in order to replace an injured rider. i.e. thereby getting rid of Guests and R/R and also getting away from the constant back biting about the eligibility of certain signings. These changes would allow a bit of continuity for teams and importantly for riders it will allow them to potentially build up a number of local sponsors i.e. at the minute with riders dotting between tracks it can be awkward for riders to start from scratch in a new area and attract sponsors. Anyway that's one for starters. I'd be interested to hear others.
  10. Vicar Thanks very much for all that info. I hope your team does well this weekend.
  11. Thanks guys for confirming THJ's score. Am I right in saying the final legs will be 11/10 and 18/10?
  12. Could someone inform me of the final score between Zielona Gora and Gorzow, please? My connection went down after heat 11. THJ defeating Pepe and Freddie in one heat!!
  13. Cheers Humph. Prize money doesn't seem overly dangerous does it. Although that said I wonder what the average cost for a rider to compete per meeting is? Also the GP's themselves can't be that cheap to run, and the revenues obtained with the exception of Uk may be poor. Any figures out there re the above?
  14. I was just wondering if there are any compilation DVD's out there of the great man's best races? Hopefully some of our Polish friends can help out with information. I was also wondering if any of the Polish clubs put together compilation DVD's of their season's racing. Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Decent haul from Max, just one question. I read somewhere that Max hadn't any other commitments other than the Monarchs...
  16. Both meetings were decent. Although I have to say that I've seen the Czestochowa track a couple of times now and quite like it. Is it the same track that Screeny rode for/on? And for you Youtube fans there is a cracking race on it featuring Screeny, Hamill and Swist (I think). I won't spoil the ending...
  17. Good was he? Did he gate or do most of his scoring by passing? Is Pori a big track?
  18. Sounds like a good meeting, very glad to see Katajisto acquiring an excellent score.
  19. Great match tonight, what a weekend for Wee Tam (THJ). Did I pick him up correctly, in that this was his first appearance at Bydgocszcz? Emil very very classy.
  20. I hear he enjoys a Ruby Murray... so are we going to cause a fuss over his Japanese flag....
