  1. Adam's 3-point average has nothing to do with his age!
  2. That annotation on the Green Sheets isn't particularly clear, but it refers to the eligibility to guest in the Premier League. Charles is a perfectly legitimate guest for Robert Branford tonight.

  5. I agree with every word of this post, and I think Sheffield's PR when they released Jake confirmed everything you say.
  6. From www.speedwaygp.com: SGP racers Krzysztof Kasprzak and Niels-Kristian Iversen must wait even longer for their shot at GP Challenge places after their qualifying semi in Esbjerg was rained off again on Sunday. It has been confirmed the Danish champions will not restage the meeting and a new date and venue is yet to be confirmed. With the GP Challenge at Poole on August 24, there is still plenty of time to squeeze the fixture into the calendar. But with SGP, Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup and FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship meetings occupying many Saturday slots, it could have to be scheduled on a weekday. Heavy rain forced the meeting to be delayed on Saturday and it did not relent overnight, leaving the circuit unfit for action.

  11. Using the accepted way of showing scores the meeting finished 50-40 (a home win for Redcar), with Redcar leading 38-22 after Heat 10.
  12. COVENTRY Storm were brought down to earth in a big way by local rivals Dudley who romped to a 62-30 win at Monmore Green on Tuesday. The Storm went into the meeting off the back of impressive wins over King’s Lynn and Stoke in their last two National League outings, but they were well beaten by a very impressive Heathens outfit in the Black Country. The home side provided twelve of the fifteen race winners and also only ran two last places, with their teenage reserves Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves playing starring roles as they covered admirably for the injured Gareth Isherwood. British Under-21 Champion Robert Branford had the most success for the visitors, winning two races and also denying home man Lewis Blackbird a maximum with a fine passing move in the last heat of the night. Joe Jacobs was the Storm’s only other winner, but he was also involved in a spectacular accident in Heat 13 when he clipped team-mate James Sarjeant as they exited the fourth bend, with Heathens captain Ashley Morris having nowhere to go and flying over Sarjeant. Fortunately there were no injuries but it completed a tough night for the Storm captain who fell in his first ride when chasing Blackbird and also saw his attempt for double-points in Heat 9 foiled by Paul Starke and Darryl Ritchings. The Storm also struggled in the lower-order, although Luke Crang – making his first visit to Monmore – did improve as the night went on, taking a decent third place in Heat 12, whilst two races later he and Brendan Johnson held a 5-1 position until Crang got too close to his team-mate on the third bend and had to bale out, with Dudley’s Darryl Ritchings doing well to lay his machine down and prevent serious damage. Three 5-1s in the first four races had put the Heathens in full control, although with the gap only increasing by another two points in the next three heats the Storm still had ambitions of salvaging a league point. But Heats 8 and 9 both went the way of the home side by the maximum margin and that meant it was damage limitation, with a further brace of 5-1s in Heats 13 and 14 after the various crashes virtually ensuring the Heathens would go through the 60-point barrier. The Storm at least get the chance to bounce back quickly when they face Kent in their next National League fixture at Brandon on Friday (7.30pm). Co-boss Laurence Rogers said: “It was very disappointing because we came here thinking we could do something, but Dudley didn’t make any mistakes and we just weren’t at the races today. “Robert rode with his head and used his track craft which was great, but I don’t really know where to pinpoint it with the rest, it was just a bad night for us. “It wasn’t through any lack of effort, though, and hopefully we can bounce back with a very good win on Friday.” DUDLEY 62: Ashley Morris 13+1, Paul Starke 13, Lewis Blackbird 12+1, Max Clegg 12+1, Nathan Greaves 7+3, Darryl Ritchings 5+3, Gareth Isherwood r/r. 13. COVENTRY Storm travel to Dudley for an eagerly-anticipated National League clash on Tuesday. It’s a big week for the Storm, who also have a home match against fellow newcomers Kent at Brandon on Friday as they look to build on their positive start to league competition. Storm faced Dudley in the early-season Travel Plus Trophy and were beaten 35-60 at Monmore Green, but much has changed since then and they will make the trip with real optimism following recent results. Robert Branford won his British Under-21 title at Monmore in April, and Joe Jacobs and James Sarjeant have also had good results at the Black Country venue in the past. There is one change to the Storm team, as reserve Tommy Fenwick has stood down from the side due to the pressure of work commitments and finances. The Storm may look to promote from the Midland Development League for a full-time replacement, but have considered various candidates for this week including locally-based Conor Dwyer, who reported he is not up to full race-fitness as yet after his serious arm injury. Storm have therefore booked Ryan Terry-Daley to stand in at reserve, with thanks to Mildenhall promoter Michael Lee for his co-operation. Terry-Daley has made several appearances for the Fen Tigers in the last year. Coventry co-boss Blayne Scroggins said: “This is our biggest meeting of the season so far. It’s a huge test for the boys, we have been riding well recently but Dudley are the team we need to try to get something from. “The boys are fired up as always and keen to improve on their showing in the early season challenge match. We just need to remain focused and continue where we left off after the Stoke meeting with our form, and give 100 per cent - that’s all we can ask.” DUDLEY: Ashley Morris, Gareth Isherwood, Paul Starke, Dan Greenwood R/R, Lewis Blackbird, Max Clegg, Nathan Greaves. COVENTRY: Joe Jacobs, Martin Knuckey, Robert Branford, Brendan Johnson, James Sarjeant, Ryan Terry-Daley, Luke Crang. By courtesy www.coventrybees.co

  17. It was Phil! COVENTRY Storm put up a valiant display in the second leg of their National League KO Cup tie at Mildenhall on Sunday afternoon. The Fen Tigers eventually progressed by eight points on aggregate courtesy of a 48-42 win in the day, but the Storm remained in contention until the penultimate race and the tie had in fact been all-square after Heat 8. There was a highly impressive debut from newcomer Luke Crang, who scored eight points from his first three rides and finished with paid-12 in his first full speedway meeting. Robert Branford was in the thick of the action throughout and again hit double-figures, whilst Paul Starke worked hard as a guest for unavailable No.1 Joe Jacobs. But there was no stopping home No.1 Stefan Nielsen, who scored a 15-point maximum, as the Fen Tigers made it into the last four of the competition, securing their progression with a 4-2 in the penultimate race. MILDENHALL 48: Stefan Nielsen 15, Jon Armstrong 11, Daniel Halsey 8, Josh Bates 6+1, Aaron Baseby 4+1, Liam Rumsey 4, Ryan Terry-Daley 0. COVENTRY 42: Robert Branford 11, Luke Crang 10+2, Paul Starke 9+1, Brendan Johnson 4+1, James Sarjeant 4, Martin Knuckey 3+1, Lee Geary 1+1. Mildenhall win 95-87 on aggregate.
  18. COVENTRY Storm need to win at Mildenhall on Sunday (4.30pm) if they are to maintain their interest in the National League Knockout Cup. The Storm’s 45-47 defeat in the first leg at Brandon last week saw them fight back from a ten-point deficit to give themselves a chance against the current holders, although the Fen Tigers will still be favourites on their home circuit. New signing Luke Crang makes his Coventry debut, and he is also in line to gain more experience of Brandon by racing in the second half following the Buildbase Bees’ home clash with Peterborough on Monday. The Storm are, however, without two of their regular riders as No.1 Joe Jacobs is otherwise engaged on Premier League business for Glasgow, with Dudley’s Paul Starke booked to guest. Meanwhile Lee Geary, who rode at reserve in the recent win at King’s Lynn, gains a further booking as Tommy Fenwick is unavailable due to work commitments. Mildenhall have re-signed Ryan Terry-Daly this week having stood-down Nathan Stoneman, whilst they are waiting on the fitness of Jon Armstrong who aggravated a knee injury this week. Storm co-boss Blayne Scroggins said: “We need to win by more than two points to get through – it’s going to be tough, but there’s no reason why we can’t go and do the job that’s needed. It’s in our hands at the end of the day. “It’s unfortunate that we are without Tommy, but there’s nothing we can do about work commitments. These kids need full-time jobs to pay for their speedway, but I would like to thank Lee for stepping in and I know he will give 100 per cent.” MILDENHALL: Stefan Nielsen, Aaron Baseby, Josh Bates, Jon Armstrong, Dan Halsey, Liam Rumsey, Ryan Terry-Daly. COVENTRY: Paul Starke, Martin Knuckey, Robert Branford, Brendan Johnson, James Sarjeant, Lee Geary, Luke Crang.
