Thank you Main Man. I always like to watch the youngsters after the main E.L. match but I'm going to be spoilt this year with the National League and MDL to follow. Can't wait for the season to start.
-
Now we do. NATIONAL LEAGUE ADMISSION ADULTS £10 CHILDREN (UNDER-16) FREE COVENTRY Speedway can confirm their admission price structure for National League racing at Brandon. NL meetings are to be run mainly on the Fridays of Grand Prix weekends to develop young talent for the club and maintain continuity of home racing at what is hoped will be an affordable level for supporters. Coventry have opted for a positive, simple structure with all adult admission (16 and over) set at £10, and all children (under 16) being FREE of charge. There will be no season tickets in this, our first season racing at NL level. We hope this structure will prove to be family-friendly and supporters will take the opportunity to back the Storm team in what is a hugely entertaining level of racing. Coventry Storm start their campaign with the first leg of the Travel Plus Trophy at home to Dudley on Friday March 22, with the full fixture list to be confirmed.

Nothing is happening though John. All the team signed up, season ticket news out, fixture list not available until next month. Just waiting for the middle of February when the track is being changed. If it doesn't expect it to get interesting in here again.
-
That's brilliant news but what is going to happen after E.L.matches then if most of the MDL ones will follow the NL? We've come to expect good value for money at Coventry with second half racing, unlike some other tracks who have 15 heats and that's the lot. Credit to them for that.

Quite happy with that and I'm sure the £10 a head for all adults will please SCB. COVENTRY Speedway can confirm their admission price structure for National League racing at Brandon. These were nice ones though. Glad I've got a good bladder because no way would I go in one of those blue thingys that men or women can use.
-
Good idea and I can understand fans being in the Lake District so not too far from Workington but who on earth would choose to be in the Leicester area to take advantage of this offer?
-
Time to end this debate I think. I've already said I wouldn't take my dog to Leicester anyway as there is not enough room, and that you can't generalise about dogs being taken to speedway meetings by their owners if the stadium capacity is big enough - Thomas (Border Collie) at Peterborough and Edward (Golden Retriever) at Coventry are just two examples of perfectly happy dogs but there are umpteen others, including my own Border Collie. Others disagree and wouldn't ever change their opinion so fair enough we'll just have to agree to disagree.....but I've already said that in an earlier post as well so we're just going round in circles. If you want the last word Shadders you are welcome to have it, but hopefully a bit more grown up than the last one. And that's the edited version. I dread to think what the original was after thinking about it for fifteen minutes.
-
Yes....right. I'd rather be friends with Gary Glitter.
-
But you know very well that I am female and you have already referred to my 'advancing years' in a post on the previous page. It's not the first time you've had a go at me on here but if that makes you happy then carry on. Just confirms that my opinion of you from posts on here and Facebook is correct. Seems you can judge me purely by my posts on here though - not only am I barmy but I'm also barking.
-
Read my posts again Shadders because you're obviously having problems with your eyesight as well as your leg and hand. Just to help you I firstly said "I'm not barmy either and am probably a more kind hearted and thoughtful person than you are because most dog owners are." I didn't say anyone who isn't a dog lover isn't a lovely person. I was referring to speedway fans and the fact you can get to know what they are really like by their comments on the forum.

The Start Of The Decline
Gemini replied to THE DEAN MACHINE's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Oooh I don't know about that. I'd imagine if it was my funeral the likes of Shadders, Subedei, Squall etc. would make a special trip to Brandon, all lining up blowing their air horns and glad to see the back of me. I have actually been to a funeral at the Coventry track of a good friend who used to stand with us on the 4th bend. His ashes were scattered on the starting gate and 4th bend. The lady vicar who conducted the service didn't even know the speedway track existed although her church was only a few miles away. -
At one time I thought all speedway fans were lovely people but that view has changed over the years. You certainly get your eyes opened on here as to what some of them are really like.
-
Thanks Shadders. Just need Squall now for the Darcy and Chris pair. There is nothing wrong with my car and it gets serviced every year so hopefully it won't break down but you never know do you as it's now 11 years old. Would be nice to have a new one but hey ho we can't always get what we want and have to make do. I'm not barmy either and am probably a more kind hearted and thoughtful person than you are because most dog owners are. I love my dogs and am proud of the fact I can take them anywhere - train, boat, walk round any city centre when on holiday and know they will always behave themselves, unlike some humans.
-
Well here's a first - quoting my own post. I just wondered if this link would work as it is a photo of Molly's first speedway meeting when she was 9 weeks old in 2005. http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream Don't think she looks bovvered does she? You'll have to excuse me while I try out some technology.

The Start Of The Decline
Gemini replied to THE DEAN MACHINE's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Made me laugh but I shouldn't really because if I do when looking at the computer Lucy shoots across the room, even if she appears to be in a deep sleep, to see what I'm watching. Disappointed this time as it was a wasted journey. -
Yes, still eligible for free entry and she doesn't even have to limbo under the turnstiles as we are allowed in through the main gate. I know some people have their own views about dogs at speedway stadiums and I have mine so we'll just have to agree to disagree. At least it changed the subject from moaning about the track or the promotion at Leicester so I achieved my object when I posted about the dog. I knew it would get a reaction.
-
Strangely enough I agree with the no dogs policy at B.P. too because there is not enough room. If dogs were allowed I still wouldn't take mine - too many dodgy people around and lots of mud and horrible stones underfoot. I don't agree with a ban on dogs at some other more spacious tracks though. If they are used to speedway and are not a nuisance I don't see why they shouldn't be there. It is outdoors afterall. You can't just generalize about every dog because they are all different and an owner will know what their own dog is like. Lucy comes with me to Coventry, gets a lot of fuss and a walk round the stadium before the meeting starts and then goes to sleep on a blanket for the rest of the night. A lot of dogs are taken to Brandon and are never a problem. In fact Edward the Golden Retriever even gets a ride round on the truck at the end of the match. Missed this one. Because I've always taken a dog with me for the past 30 years. They're introduced to speedway when they're 9 weeks old and I've never had one yet that has been frightened or caused any problem. Main reason is for company on the journey from Leicester to Coventry as I'm on my own and feel safer with a dog if the car broke down. The one I take now is 3 year old Lucy and she sits in the passenger seat looking out of the window all the way up the M69. Perhaps she doesn't trust my driving and is getting prepared to bail out if I have a crash.
-
I'd prefer our first meeting to be at Brandon actually because I like my dog to have a good sniff around and pass her approval of anyone new. If she doesn't bite your leg then I know you're okay. Of course this test isn't possible at Beaumont Park because the miserable sods won't let her in.
-
Ah that's the one I'll join then as it sounds the right one for me. Let me know when it's up and running dj350z and I'll come and stand with you.
-
Hopefully Peter York might be looking for a job. If you think the two you've had already are bad you'll all love Yorkie.
-
Just a friend who works at the school Conor attends.
-
I know someone who would be very pleased with that choice.
-
And to you John. Isn't this a bit too happy and upbeat for a Leicester thread though?

No Gps On Sky Television Next Year?
Gemini replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So much easier via Virgin Media this October as it's just 'press 1, press 2, press 3' etc. to cancel the Sky Sports package, but I would have preferred to actually speak to a human being, even though they all appear to be Scottish so I can't understand what they're saying, so I could say I wouldn't be renewing next March due to no Speedway G.P's on Sky.
