  1. In the absence of Shazzy, (I hope she won't mind me telling you), it is Ted Hubbard. I'm sure she will fill in with a few more details later.
  2. Yes, that's what I meant of course Norbold. As my life didn't start until 1940 and I'm not a historian like you, nothing exists in my mind before that year. ;-) Thanks for the list - I didn't realise there were so many.
  3. I remember Scott Autrey very well. Wasn't he one of the first American's to ride over here? Good description by Wes lake. Just need to keep Steve Hone away from this thread when he gets back from his hols. and I can keep my memories intact. ;-) HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT.
  4. Thanks for that. Are they together as a team or on separate outfits? Just wondering which one would be mad enough to be the passenger. Something strange about people who do that.
  5. Well I hope your prediction doesn't come true Falcace. :-( Three of the four are my least favourite riders.
  6. Have a great time Joanne. I would have felt better if you'd taken Pawprint with you. She's moping around the house at this very moment. Watch out for all the dodgy people! If I wasn't such a wimp and daren't fly, I could have been there as well. :-(
  7. Looks like someone has been doing a nifty bit of editing. :? You've got to be quicker than that though, Robbie, as you've already been spotted!
  8. Believe he started racing quite late too. Wasn't he about 27 or 28?
  9. Ah! The Pink Panther. He was hilarious on some of those Mike Bennett tapes. I'd be interested to know what the Grahame Brothers are doing now as well.
  10. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a little gold mine up in your attic, unlike mine which is full of junk. :-( If ever you do want to sell anything I'm sure there will be lots of people interested. I think e-bay is is what most Speedway fans seem to use for buying and selling stuff.
  11. Lovely story, Star Lady, and well done to the staff at the Millenium Stadium.
  12. There you are Frigbo. You needn't go crawling up in the loft now. Thanks Moxey63. I remember the name Gil Goldfinch very well, but that's about it. I probably mostly saw him riding at Long Eaton.
  13. That would be Gricco at Coventry, previously known as Gazgrell on the old forum.
  14. Ah! Now I know why Joanne was so keen to go to Prague. She will feel really at home there.
  15. So that was you being quiet and moderately sober on Saturday? :? Heaven help us next year then.
  16. Thanks for the address Wizza. I have sent my email off now asking for our music back next year. If we all do this perhaps the people who decided Cardiff needed to be quieter will realise they made the wrong decision. Those who have sensitive ears can always use ear plugs. Personally I find the noise does a great job in clearing my sinuses out for the next twelve months. ;-) Bet they never found Hipflask's hipflask.
  17. So the general opinion seems to be covered by the above quote and I think this all boils down to the fact "someone" decided Cardiff should be quieter this year, with less emphasis on the music we have had at previous GP's. Well I'm sorry but I think this was a huge mistake. I want more noise not less! One little snippet of "Who let the dogs out" and "Hey Baby" was not enough to encourage audience involvement and that was really missing this year. Anyone know B.S.I's email address? Perhaps if we let our opinions be known to them they may reconsider next year.
  18. Well all I can say is I'm glad I kept Pawprint away from some of you who were so keen on Hot Dogs. ;-) After a very hectic day walking in the park and round the town, then playing with a ball on the Castle grass, she was a very hot dog indeed. She did however spend the evening in a nice cool hotel room resting her weary paws.
  19. Told you I only had a problem with certain words beginning with F or C. It's not very nice to call someone a "sad little man" or a "drunken painter" (amongst other things) on the forum either. JB had apologised for his behaviour and I just thought he was being blamed for everything when other people had contributed as well. Just my misguided sense of fair play. Don't worry - it won't happen again.
  20. Mmmmm...I thought as much but I didn't think Krissie would have such a Blonde moment as that.
  21. Beautiful building that was and now gone the same way as a lot of beautiful buildings in Leicester. :-( Krissie Is Nigel living over here again now?
  22. Reminds me of that story by Hans Christian Andersen "The Emperors New Clothes". Can you see something I can't Lt?
  23. Oy!! That's not fair. Actually that posting was quite a masterpiece from J.J. and very funny, but then I probably have a warped sense of humour. Think you need it on here sometimes. I agree with JB though - he shouldn't take all the blame. Admittedly he has posted things he shouldn't but others have been just as outspoken. (No names, no pack drill.) ;-) Perhaps we should have a thread called the Sin Bin listing members with a Yellow (1st offence) or Red Card (2nd offence) so we all know who they are, rather than just the mods. Calling someone an arrogant sod doesn't count though does it?
  24. That probably explains why we keep seeing views of an empty bit of track when the cameraman misses the action. :?
