Well good luck to all the optimists but I am sticking with my decision I'm afraid. So many aches and pains these days and I have even had to order a 'tilt and lift' recliner now so I can bloody get up. I can't face being out in the damp and cold tonight. Hope it's a good meeting.

If this rain doesn't stop soon it might be an early morning call off being as it is Edinburgh. Edit.......Being as there is such a lot of interest in this match I will restore my comment from yesterday, which I hid because I didn't want to be pessimistic. However. it's still raining this morning and I can't see this being on. No word yet from the management but even if it's on the racing on the soaked track won't be very good so I have made an early decision myself ~ I am not going.

How about Monday Monday by the Mamas and Papas. That seems more appropriate for a Speedway race night these days.

Strange isn't it? Something so simple that could be done at all tracks ~ well perhaps with the exception of Poole ~ to keep the flow of the meeting going and stop us being bored stiff watching tractors go round.

Very much doubt it, especially on Poole's track.

I bet the riders love it. We will have to agree to disagree because numerous laps of the tractor going round every couple of heats drives me mad, especially if it's a cold night, so if it's every heat you wouldn't see me again. Afraid Kings Lynn was off my list anyway several years ago after a 40 minute sun break, then another delay while Chris Harris (& another Coventry rider who I have forgotten) were both knocked off by Puk and had to return to the pits to sort their bikes out, followed by an interval after they finally got the race going again.. Why not have the interval while there was a delay? There was a bitterly cold wind in spite of the sun so I was frozen and cheesed off the match was taking so long. Haven't been back since, which is a shame because they allow dogs.

No thanks. ......and that's probably what makes the racing so exciting to watch. I still think Speedway riders are all crackers though, no matter which part of the track they are on.

My second visit this season as unfortunately I can't make the midweek ones unless a Bank Holiday. I've always loved Peterborough so even when their fans are saying it wasn't such a good meeting it's a damn sight better than any ones at Leicester. Also reading comments about the Poole and Swindon tracks on the same day I reckon Panthers fans should be pleased they can watch their speedway on a well prepared track. Okay it might not have been at the beginning of the season but it's definitely getting there now so if that's down to Buster then all credit to him.

Looks like it. The track was brilliant today and one big factor was hardly any boring tractor laps so the dirt stayed on the outside.

Absolutely love Peterborough ~ the track, the racing, the music, just everything. Also love my dogs who are so good and go to sleep while the match is on. My cars not bad either as it's almost 18 years old and can still belt along at 70......I mean 60........when there aren't any speed limits on the A47. If anyone is feeling a bit depressed with Speedway take a trip to Peterborough.

Sorry it was a disappointing evening for you. I stood with a Birmingham supporter but he perhaps enjoyed it a bit more because we were able to catch up on old times sitting on the 3rd bend at Brandon, so 3/4 years since we have seen each other. Apart from James Shanes (I've always liked him since seeing him at Coventry a few years ago) and Ashley Morris Birmingham didn't really put up much of a fight and of course that's needed to have good racing. The track is certainly much better this season and it's no longer a gater's paradise but it does need a competitive team on a roughly equal level and unfortunately Birmingham weren't.

Don't often see that with experienced riders.

I've always thought that it's unnecessary to have so much track grading. Apart from being boring I don't think it achieves anything, except to give the track curator something to do during a meeting. Glad it was a cracking meeting and hopefully it will be the same on Monday.

I'm not surprised. I once saw him way ahead in a race but on the 4th bend, where I was standing, he went too wide and crashed after hitting the fence. I just presumed he had lost concentration.

Me too. I feel lost without Lucy by my side. I have always taken a dog with me to Speedway meetings and they have never been a problem to anyone. We're not exactly at some posh all seated indoor arena but usually pretty basic grass banking or terracing so why not if they are allowed.

I'm sure there are too but it's not worth the hassle bothering.

Who are the other 6? Ole Olsen, Nigel Boocock, Hans Nielsen, Greg Hancock, Bill Hamill, Tommy Knudsen?

Me too ~ not one of my favourite riders. Didn't he also get into trouble for trying to smuggle something in one of his speedway bikes?

February 27th 2019.....................GLASGOW have axed Joe Lawlor and brought in former Workington rider Kyle Bickley to take over one of the reserve positions at Ashfield. The unexpected eve-of-season switch followed an incident involving Lawlor at a Glasgow hotel last Thursday night when the fire alarms were set off, guests evacuated and the Fire Brigade called. The Tigers released Lawlor on Friday for ‘gross misconduct’ and in a statement published in this week’s edition of Speedway Star, co-promoter Peter Facenna explains the club’s stance on the matter.

Presumably they are paying for these adverts so are all helping to keep the magazine going.
