  1. He's now at No1 as Morris has been even worse. Hopefully Kauko can make the difference to us.
  2. Holding out until Nieminen has a competitive run out which will be Rye House home the following Sunday. By then who we get in the play offs should be clearer. If it doesnt suit Glasgow why would they agree to it. Sarjeant at Armadale is neither here nor there. Fill the blank fixture with the Scottish Open.
  3. James the Persecuted only has himself to blame. He is chancer turned victim. If his confidence is low its because he genuinely has to compete with the other riders for his points rather than being half a turn ahead when he has dropped the clutch early. What is frustrating is the inconsistency of referees, a rare few still let it go, some wait to see if the rider has punished himself then put the red lights on as the riders head out of turn 2. The wise pull it back straight away. Glasgow have had the benefit of Sarjeant, starting on a 3 and now being 5.25, which I think is his level. The No2 slot is a difficult one though I dont see him improving on it next year. Palovaara is the better long term prospect.
  4. The solution is not to have it on a Sunday. Monday past was a bank holiday in England, why not have it then and not schedule any EL matches to run against it. These events have had their day, id imagine they rely on the fans of the staging club to make the numbers. Perhaps it will have a relaunch next year if it is staged at the new National Speedway Stadium in Manchester but i cant see it.
  5. From where I was standing on the fourth bend there was no doubt Sarjeant jumped. For everyone who thinks he is being victimised there is someone who thinks he is at it. Im in the latter and other than at Kings Lynn last week, I dont recall seeing any injustices. With the process of maturity he will learn he cant get away with jumping the starts forever though with being influenced by Gary Havelock that may take longer than expected. The more he is defended the longer it will go on. With the new averages out next week it looks like Sarjeant is staying in the 1-5 by a narrow 0.02. Lawson moves to No1 with Morris likely going to 5 which hopefully means we will see the best of him before the season is out. Sarj has just jumped the start in ht1 at NCL! Aaaaarrrgghhhhh!
  6. Play off matches wont count towards his average. Around 5 points i would like to give him another go at GLA!
  7. Ankle injury, didnt travel over from Sweden. Short term hopefully!
  8. That was the best Glasgow could have hoped for in the circumstances. Carr wasnt at the races and Victor was a big loss. Advantage NCL!
  9. We need some consistent refereeing, Morris to front up as a No1 in all his rides and the track to be regraded and/or watered more often than it was last Sunday. Last week was torture, other than Starke, the Rebels performed as you would have expected but we played into their hands by not regrading when the track slickened off. The 1.30pm start is a welcome if one off change.
  10. Lets hope that events of this week will have reigned in his temper.
  11. A strong and consistent ref. Ht 2 Starke warned for jumping the start, does it again in ht14 and gets all 4 back. I harp on every week about the lack of consistency from referees, the standard of the current crop is poor, each one does their own thing, its never the same from one week to the next. The Grand Monarch im starting to realise is one of the better ones, he's very much no nonsense and thats what it needs. Sarjeants mid week exclusion off 15m at Kings Lynn highlights how bad it can be, and he had video replays!
  12. Hope we make it through both legs with Summers fit, Worrall acted like an immature fud today. Nick's lack of scoring cost us today, frustrating when you see his EL scores from through the week. Im starting to feel we are distinctly second class as far as he is concerned, he has lacked speed at home most of the season and there doesnt seem to be the desire to change it. Somerset did today what Ipswich threatened to do and EDI did. We are not invincible and must look to get a point at Worky the following weekend.
  13. That was the unsavoury side ive read about but never seen until today. In ht 4 he turned left on Summers half way down the back straight as he was passing him causing his own fall but proceeded to want to fight Summers. Ht14 was clearly a revenge opportunity as he lurched from gate 1 right across to 4 to get Summers, had he collected him instead of Starke he would have launched him into the car park. Ive no desire to see Worrall R anytime soon. Glasgow contributed to their own downfall, when the track slicked off Somerset banged in four 5-1s in 5 heats, after a track grade they stopped gating and Glasgow came back into it. Why there was no track grade for hts 14 & 15 is our own stupidity. Starke was warned for jumping the start in ht2, when he did it again in ht14 he should have been excluded. He was the match winner for Somerset as he revelled in the slick conditions but toiled when it was deeper. As it was the Rebels were a 5 man team and Glasgow's fragilities were exposed with Morris again a poor shadow of the No1 we desperately need.
  14. He was a decent rider last year just not in the PL. Being track reserve at the recent Horsens GP will have improved his stock. On an average around 5 i would hope we could tempt him back to Ashfield for 2016, he wouldnt believe the changes!
  15. Thornblom looks a far better rider with more to come. Barker's best years are behind him, is regularly injured and dropped a Wolbert like amount from his starting average. Know who i would rather have.
  16. Im sure Grieves also issued a bit of punishment on Zetterstrom!
  17. More like the home captain beat him in a race he expected to win and he let his immaturity come to the fore yet again.
  18. How much of that is down to having the track super slick every week, making it easy for everyone to ride. Then when you head on your travels anything more than a couple of grains of shale sends the Worky riders into meltdown as its not what they are used to.
  19. Another classic Monarchs write down TheScotsman, just in case! The other side is that the German dud has recovered the 2 points on his starting average, Sedgmen is riding like a heat leader at No2 and Riss is capable of pulling in important points at almost any track. With selective writing like that you must be ripe for an invitation to do match reports for the Monarchs website! Nothing less than an 0131 victory will do to make Somerset's northern tour that bit more interesting.
  20. A good win for Glasgow, perhaps one we would not have got if Bjerre and Robson had been riding. Again a guest has not even adequately covered for Morris, though Worrall S seems to be going well otherwise. Perhaps not the meeting for Dmitri to make his home debut!
  21. Relatively comfortable meeting for Glasgow tonight though could have been the opposite had Risager been in the points. Kauko looks like he'll be fine once he gets set up right though Hynek doesn't fill me with confidence, he's not very quick and looked all at sea in most of his races, time will tell. Jack Holder looks thoroughly decent and got back up from Fisher and Simota. I sometimes wonder if once referees quality they are just left to it. Tonight one of the poorest refs by a considerable distance let the race continue in ht1 when Sarjeant had come down on first bend bunching and was lying on the inner third of the track, let the rest of the pack ride round him on the next lap and as they were coming round again decided to then put the red light on and exclude Sarjeant who had by this time gotten to his feet! Absolutely mental. Ht3 Holder is moving at the start, ref calls it back and gives Holder an official warning. No problem. Ht9 Simota does likewise and he lets the race continue, ht14 Kurtz barely bothers to wait for the green light and narrowly misses the rising tapes with his helmet, ref lets the race continue. Consistency - zero. No wonder fans get frustrated. Amazing, with James Sarjeant and James Wright in the same meeting!
  22. Is this the same rider that RG publicly criticised over the tannoy at one meeting towards the end of 2014, saying he hadn't been good enough and wouldn't be back next season?
  23. We'll find out in 2 weeks when Redcar come to Le Stade D'Ashfield!
  24. Its just you. Just because I comment doesn't mean its always a complaint. No complaint about Kauko just comment that hope he's still good enough to do a job. Summers is signing of the season, yes I was a vocal critic however he has upped his game to new heights that few including me would have foreseen. Happy to be proved wrong. Sarjeant I regularly COMMENT on as he generates so many reruns from anticipating the start he punishes himself as well as adding unnecessary time onto meetings. I don't think he benefits from the unstinting defence of Gary Havelock in this and riding as a fast track rider in the EL gives him a false sense of confidence. Yes he has put over 3 points on his starting average but will take half that off again staying in the 1-5. No cold water from me about anything the new owners have done but I will add comment/analysis to this discussion forum on what I see fit whether that meets your approval or otherwise.
