  1. UK Speedway is clearly hamstrung by doubling up.. Neither league can pay those top tier third HL's/SS's, and 2nd tier "one and fives" individually, what these lads want to earn.. Therefore, they share the costs, to ensure so many teams can actually exist at the level they want to run at, and riders get what they want.. The top tier need to have some "top talent" to justify their "top tier" status... And those who run the sport as a hobby have zero interest in what the top tier do, and have even less than zero interest in joining them, but do like using riders they couldn't afford if the top tier didn't subsidise them.. In short... Doubling up, and Guestfest after Guestfest, (196 in the top two tiers last year), actually renders the sport a ridiculously "hard sell" to both sponsors (from outside the Speedway bubble), and potential new followers.... (Not promoted well Richard? Really? How do you actually promote that?) Sorting this sharing of riders is the No1 issue, and the biggest barrier to the sport ever becoming seen as "authentic" by those who no longer attend, or wish to sponsor clubs.. To the likes of Richard Coleman, I say... Good luck... Many before have seen the huge potential in such a unique concept of motorbike racing in a town environs... And all then basically, gave up, and cleared off, disillusioned, given those incumbents who run the sport, are more than happy with their lot.. Us fans may see potential, those who run it, particularly as a hobby, don't feel any growth is needed... (Especially If it impacts them)..
  2. They have all been in it together... All are just as culpable as each other, for the situation the sport finds itself in... Making up some Mickey Mouse rules as they go along, all knowing that, one day, they may need to use any particular one of them, themselves..... In the interest of Speedway, obviously..... Adrian Smith, like a fair few before, got out bewildered by, and with, so many who are still within the sport... It will be very much rinse and repeat until the inevitable happens...
  3. Joining a club of several others. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas....
  4. You're sh*t, and you know you are!"...
  5. The same plan they have had for many, many years.... #needtokeepgoingsoriderscandoubleup..
  6. The six everyone knows and Bartek Zmarzlik on a 4.50 point average... This average is based on his one match for Birmingham in 2014, and the ensuing 11 years worth of reduction for not riding over here during that time.. An extremely new rule which only six times World Champions qualify for.. (And all done in the interests of Speedway obviously)..
  7. One to tell the riders to make great starts and then ride as fast as they could..? And the other to tell them to turn left when they got to end of every straight..?
  8. Hey! If it ain't broken, don't fix it..... PS (Don't tell your friends how much it is to get in to watch a sport they probably have never heard of, until they have got there!!)...
  9. You already know how this ends..... Like so many before... Hobbyists rule...
  10. "Great to have you on board Richard, and we appreicate your thoughts on how the sport has been promoted in the UK, however, for most of us here within UK Speedway, it is nothing more than an affordable hobby that we enjoy running. Hence, to ensure ir remains affordable, we run the sport in a way where we can just pretty much make things up as we go along, and don't really go in for too much authenticity when compared to properly ran professional sports"... "I am sure we all look forward to listening to what great ideas you have, before obviously just cracking on and doing the same things as always"...
  11. Good news... No Team info? Or did I miss it? "Not always promoted or presented in the way it deserves"... Fair comment.... I am sure the other promoters will be closely watching and learning...
  12. As it stands, I can see the Aces going full in on the PCMT, and the GP's... They may need the money to pay for their season!!!
  13. And King's Lynn will still find a way to not qualify...
  14. So... You have had the official press release leaked to you too?
  15. CL didn't worry too much about change when he put together, clearly, the best septet by far last year did he? Nor did he worry too much about Birmingham when he made them weaker by signing Tom Brennan as a third heat leader did he?... The time for change was a long, long time ago... CL, and others, have had plenty of time to make those changes... However, they chose, season after season, to not make any...
  16. Agreed... But those still within it will also be losing what is left of their much stretched, and taken for granted, patience...
  17. Maybe the delay is down to the quality of team that now can be put out? Have they had certain agreements in place to ensure they don't end up cannon fodder, like so many late arrivals have ended up being down the years? And that now isn't happening? Or, is their last rider also possibly in the Northampton conundrum, so they are awaiting an outcome there..? Whatever the reason, it is (yet another), poor look for UK Speedway...
  18. And if you compare the cost of living, and average salaries, in both countries, then the UK, pro rata, is quite a bit less
  19. I concur re Poland, will be going again this season, several times... I think they miss a great opportunity to use the Manchester city centre as a "GP Hub"... Meet the riders etc.. Well over a hundred thousand people will be going through there on the Friday and Saturday... What an opportunity to not only advertise a "Flagship" event, to create some "Big Event" feel for Speedway, but also, off the back of it, advertise the Aces and UK Speedway in general... And all to an audience who, in the main, won't have a clue who you are, or what you do... A "gift horse" if ever there was one for the Aces.. As for the pricing? I will be watching world class action, with most riders there not riding over here... I woukd rather pay over £60 for that, than around £30 for some contrived, Mickey Mouse, domestic offerings..
  20. Cardiff was an overall great day out... Until it wasn't, as the novelty wore off.. The racing certainly didn't often stand up to scrutiny of being the reason for going... I think just over £60 a night in the South Stand is VFM considering I have just laid out nearly £30 for the PCMT...
  21. Pretty much the same was said last year. And they came pretty close to selling out both nights.. I suppose if they do the same again, then their pricing has been proved correct...
  22. As the Great Tony Wilson said... "This is Manchester" "We do things differently here"..
  23. A bit harsh.... He was only one month out.... Not a bad effort really when it comes to the history of Speedway promoting in the UK.....
