  1. It must be all down to pure luck....
  2. I think the clue was in the interview with Allen pre race when he said "collectively agreed"... There would have been some doubts voiced I am sure going 1/3 given the evidence in front of them that 2/4 was the better gates at that stage of the meeting.. It was noticeable that gate two in every meeting during the week became the best around two thirds in.... Still. Second is a decent result with plenty more to come from these two lads...
  3. And that's a fair old summary of the sport in the UK... Getting "any" Speedway on is the over riding priority for the promoters... The competitions themselves become an irrelevance given the way they get ran, so putting on some good racing to watch is key... Riders got a chance to earn a fair few quid and it sounds like a good crowd enjoyed a good nights Speedway... Which is ultimately what matters nowadays... No major sponsor or mainstream TV channel would ever touch it with a barge pole given its.operstimg model obviously,, so it will never grow nationally... But at a local level, at the right time of week and year, it definitely shows that a decent crowd can still be engaged enough to attend... In fact. Maybe it is actually the way forward? A home team v select teams each week full of track specialists to try and endure a good nights close racing...? The fact it can and does happen now adhoc completely devalues any competition it happens in anyway, so make it "policy"... Just sell the racing to the public on nights they want to attend... With the lads that bring the entertainment getting rewarded with the most meetings....
  4. Three men teams rather than four men teams and a U21 reserve....? Not much difference... Maybe Kolodziej, Kubera and Drabik would have done better? Or Wozniak and Woryna? Plenty to choose from to put a decent three man TEAM together... You just chose the wrong TEAM....
  5. The UK, The Swedes and the Poles should run it over a 3 year cycle.. .. Decent crowds in those countries for World Team events..
  6. Gate two and four the best at the end of the meeting.. Still... Silver after Gold isnt too bad...
  7. The camera work is rubbishe... Come on lads.... Keep Dan on the outside... No grading or watering after the semi Fireman Phil
  8. Honestly cannot believe such a ridiculous sexist comment can be made on a public forum in 2022... Men can make cakes as well...
  9. Brexit didnt make Div 2 dispense with having 22 British Rising Stars at reserve.. In fact .. You would actually have thought that with Brexit there would be an even greater focus on providing a pathway for the British lads..
  10. It's all the fault of Brexit that Div 2 no longer have British Rising Stars...
  11. I believe so... But they have put that geographical block on it to encourage their potential patrons to attend... I believe the block goes to the Outer Hebrides...
  12. The Tower of London for some of those who run the sport.... "Orf with their heads" . "And hes anywan seen may Arndrew? He seems to hev gorn oyt again"
  13. It clearly reinforces what the promoters think of the competitions they run doesnt it? Which is... It isn't about the competitions themselves but simply about "putting some Speedway on".. Which is fine... As long as they don't spend much time scratching their collective heads, wondering why tens of thousands of fans who still follow this great sport very closely, give it a collective miss most weeks... Because simply, if they themselves don't even look like they try to take it seriously, (and meetings being ran like the Poole v Brum one suggests that is definitely the case), then getting fans to believe in it is very improbable.. A shame.. Great sport, really poor operating model..
  14. Spot on... I would also have only let those riders not contracted overseas to double up, meaning those who did have contracts elsewhere could be available to stand in for teams in the league that they didn't race in over here... But only for one team in that league all season, not every team on an adhoc basis... eg Sam Masters could ride for Wolves and stand in as a "guest" for a Div 2 team when needed/average allowed, but then couldn't ride for any other Div 2 team that season... Running a five man team in Div 1 would also create spare riders to be available from Div 2 to replace them without the need to share around riders from the same league... (Which currently destroys any hope the sport can ever be taken seriously)...
  15. If only they had known the SON was on this weekend they probably would have avoided running any Speedway meetings ... Maybe the FIM should ensure their fixture dates are clear for everyone to see and planned well in advance? After all The UK promoters cannot be expected to be mind readers can they??? The Queen's Competition is devalued now for me... Let's hope she isn't offended...
  16. Looking at the exciting line ups.... You would be wise to get there early.... (But not too early or you might end up riding for Birmingham)....
  17. The sport is ran by the promoters for the promoters and riders... Getting a credible operating model won't be for one minute discussed at any meeting... Rinse and Repeat... Guestfest after Guestfest... As long as 'any kind of speedway' is put out then it is mission accomplished... An expensive hobby for those who can afford expensive hobbies... And a channel for lads to earn as much as they can in six months worth of work... That is all it is over here, and all it ever will be I would think, given the promoters all seem quite reluctant to even consider that what they offer detrimentally impacts their own businesses and the wider sport in general.. Obviously you cannot take it seriously, but you can still have a great night out at the speedway, especially at those tracks that can deliver great racing...
