  1. Away teams often agree to meetings in such circumstances... The Aces used to go to Arena on a Friday missing several riders on FIM meetings on the Saturday.. Bring in three or four ex Hammers as replacements and have a much better chance of winning...
  2. I divided by 3.... Doh!!!! Do I get an extra 5% for being at hone?
  3. The answer is obvious... (And it isnt a)... It is an (expensive) plaything for many, and a stand alone business for others.. Hence so many "Mickey Mouse" rules get made to get meetings on, regardless of impact to the credibility of the sport.. For once, there appears to be some thought that running a KL Select isnt the way forward.. As he owns the place, there will be plenty of Mondays and Thursdays to run this meeting, given fixed race nights mean riders will be available.. Poland allowing of course...
  4. It continued... They should have flown in Mickey and Minnie Mouse to replace Tobiasz and Patryk to give the punters what they want...
  5. Away teams regularly turn up with RR and Guests.. As it isn't their money to be earned.. The home team need to be strong, (hence they even get extra % for guests)..
  6. I roundly agree with him.. (For once)... It would be no more than a Stars Select.. You either want this sport to be taken seriously, so it can grow, or you don't... More power to Phil's elbow.. Noticeable too how the 28 day "let's do horses for courses and improve our team" facilities have become stop gap signings.. Little things, but from those small acorns etc, etc..
  7. Maybe Jason Doyle fits the category? 2010 Poole, aged 24, at reserve, running a 4 point average.. 2011. Aged 25, a second string at Poole.. 2017. Champion of the World!! A massive leap...
  8. Especially when you are not paying out for Ht 13 and 15....
  9. Both Pawlicki and Milik should have been part of a mid season change plan.. No point signing them on such a high average otherwise.. Hopefully that is what they have planned and a No1 arrives soon, and they both drop to their natural positions in a Premiership team..
  10. In this instance one third of the admission should be refunded.. If a waiter took your 25 quid meal off you, two thirds in, and said "we are closing early" you wouldn't be too impressed would you? The BSP should work as a collective (which they say they do), and, in this instance, KL should let their fans, who attended the match, in at their next home match for a reduced pro rrata price, and then get the money from Ipswich.. In a utopian world it would be a pro rata refund direct in cash or bank account, but doing it this way means attending the next meeting which will also help the clubs, especially as BHM draw the largest crowds, some their only visits so getting many of them to return has to be a positive..
  11. Wins a fair few Ht1's from the inside grid... And then usually tails off from there..
  12. Saved money on points, so maybe, a pro rata refund..?
  13. It would be good for the entertainment level to have Pawlicki performing at his best... The NSS should, hopefully, suit his riding style perfectly, and the racing, once again, delivers..
  14. Correct.. The 192 does mean a walk of about 400m or so, the 203 a bit less.. And you get to see our new bus station too....!! Sorry, I mean public transport connection hub.... The 192 route is, I believe, the busiest outside London, so buses every 5 mins.. A train to Belle Vue from Piccadilly Station runs, with Picc being 5 mins from Stockport, but the service to Belle Vue doesn't run frequently daily.. Simon Calder....
  15. What a ride..... And what a response from the crowd on his lap of honour... The Poles should take Speedway a bit more seriously....
  16. Another tactical fall...... His race was pretty much over when his team mate pushed him out..
  17. Red or Yellow... Who goes? Edit. Red. Not like a Pawlicki to drop the bike...
  18. Ivan Mauger... He even ended up going back home to NZ when first over here as he wasn't good enough to get a team place...!!!! Before coming back and giving it another go.. And turning out "quite good" in the end....
  19. Maybe more recently... When I used to go there, there was some fantastic racing given its small size but wide bends..
  20. The US have small tracks that give great entertainment... Mildenhall in particular over here stands out as a small track that delivers good racing... And to think, some Plymouth fans take the pee out of Poole's track...
  21. Bobby Ott... Came over and rode at reserve for the Aces on borrowed engines and was "not good" with plenty of Aces fans wondering why he had been selected... Gradually improved, as his equipment did, and in 1993 won the "winner takes all" last heat decider at Wolverhampton to win the Aces the title. A truly top level talent on a Speedway bike, and, in my top seven all time Aces septet such was his natural ability.. I once watched him slide to the ground, so technically,"fell off" and, in one movement, flip the bike up whilst still being sat on it, and carry on without the bike's engine stopping... Unfortunately the rider following laid his bike down to avoid hitting Bobby, and then procrastinated on track to the ref's box, as Bobby rode off into the distance, and the race was stopped.... With Bobby excluded!! He wasn't happy... I remember him saying that this was something he actually practiced so was particularly miffed that the race got stopped... He used to practice his balance on a uni cycle as he felt it helped him on a Speedway bike... Watched him ride for the USA in several Tests,, and top score in a team full of true World Class talent at the time... A sad day when he left the Aces, as he was truly "box office on a bike" given his riding style..
  22. In such a tiny sport where the result wont resonate past a few thousand at best, the entertainment factor is paramount.. "He pulled away from fhe tapes, he should be excluded, hooray he is!! Great! That's that race knackered"...
  23. If I had paid to get in I would have been a bit cheesed off... Two of the best riders in the league now not going head to head in heat one.. With the ref actually delaying the start of the meeting more than Cook did...!! Still, they risk their lives reffing for our entertainment dont they?
