I was amazed that they got so close in the first one.. But at least it keeps gravitas and kudos (and probably most importantly), big financial rewards in winning that competition Which is what all "proper" sporting comps should have... Lose that and the media goes... Then the sponsors... Then the fans... And any sporting contest can be one sided at any time, as that is just the nature of sport.. UK Speedway wont change though as the riders need the money, and the promoters cannot pay them enough to be "exclusive" to them individually... A shame, but that is simply how it is.. Looking forward to a good meeting tonight at the NSS, always great to see Emil and Doyle there...

Glasgow Vs Redcar, play offs 230923
mikebv replied to Jaizer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
They run guestfests after guestfests all season, yet have blank weeks due to rider availability... Work that one out... Just run meetings with 14 different riders if needed, as it won't make much (any?) difference to the credibility of what's on offer.. And it would at least get the league done on time... -
Rules are kept ambiguous so they can be "interperated" as and when is needed.. You can't "make it all up as you go along" if rules are clear and beyond any subjectivity... And that would be no good for UK Speedway who depend on that "moments notice" change in personnel...

"Turning into a farce"? I think that particular horse bolted a long, long time ago.... It wouldn't be UK Speedway without some make it up as you go along stuff though would it...? Imagine how boring it would be if they had clear, unambiguous rules and regs, that were not subjective and open to challenge and interpretation? It gives us all something to laugh at, at least, doesnt it... Last night we had the 8 day guest rule/NDL rider exempt debate, and next week no doubt there will be another one that gives us a giggle... Best Wishes to Robert in his quest for another winners medal... Could he be in a position to make it a hat trick next year riding for *(insert name here as applicable)...

Best of luck to Sheffield, great to see a team using the clear regulations to bring in a top star, just like the Aces did last year... "Mr Play Offs" himself.... #aceslegend #tigerslegend Will be earning as many winners (and losers) medals as Bomber at this rate...

Really looking forward to seeing him on Monday riding the NSS... Too easy for him last night, (I left to beat the traffic before ht15 so didn't see him get beat)... Emil gating on a track with minimal passing opportunities isn't anything like the spectacle he puts on when riding those tracks with big sweeping bends and wide open spaces... Watching him and Kurtz inches away from the fence at the NSS is truly breathtaking to watch... Let's hope for some of that on Monday... And hopefully more next year....

Team Speedway in the UK hasn't really bee taken too seriously for a long, long time, hence no major sponsors for decades.. Guests used to be a "necessary evil" (allegedly), with their appearences limited to "now and again"... Over the past two decades they have become something that surprises you when there isn't one...

I thought that was what they did.... Lets be honest, they spend all the qualifying matches during the season running it in a Mickey Mouse way, so why not just carry this on during the play offs.. Fair play to them for that... You only have to see the comments on the other semi threads about Ipswich maybe using Fricke on Monday rather then Harris as he is better at the NSS to see how ludicrous it all is, and how fans just accept such nonsense... Poland ran their first leg of their final with two top riders missing from one team, with no guests, and had s closer result than the UK did with two... They also had a packed stadium, major sponsors involved, big viewing figures, and will have big financial rewards for whoever wins.. I wonder what the difference is?

Just got back in... Crowd seemed decent, not sure how that fits against a normal one but the car park was reasonably well used.. Had to use my key to find my car... Racing was pretty average to be honest but I presume track prep was dictated to by the forecast.. Interesting everyone thought King and Bomber would "love the mud", but there wasnt any, and the track was slick all night... For the Aces, Dan was involved in four heats that saw a 12 point deficit which isn't really good enough for a top five GP rider, and you would have expected at least two wins from a rider of his talent, even if Emil may end up beating him twice. Two wins off Dan against the other Witches and the deficit could have been 12 points.. The rear end of his bike in the first race looked strange when he did a practice start on the back straight and his mechanics were waiting for him on the home straight as if they were expecting something to happen. He didn't seem to have "Polish Speed" that's for sure... Brady, Tom and Jaimon can walk away satisfied with their contribution, the other 3 definitely not so... The Witches were just more aggressive from Heat One and ran out deserving winners... However, leads like they have can quickly get reduced at the NSS so not over yet... I must admit, part of me would like to see the Aces lose overall by two, as it would mean a cracking meeting, and Jack Smiths second tonight then would be the "difference maker"... No one calling for King, Riss and Hawkins to be sacked tonight I notice...
