Great display by Robert. But I've seen more spectators in a farmers field on a sunday afternoon! -
Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 11-08-2017
Bunce replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Amazingly if the Stars had got a 5-1 in the last race, they would have won this meeting! Well done to all the riders who gave it a go in what I understand to be tricky conditions. As DJ said, commitment is a leveller. Pleased that Porsing had a much better meeting, after coming back from injury. Not a win, but a well earned point. -
Totally agree with your observations GRW. He falls in to the category of a frustrating rider to watch, we know its in there somewhere, but never know whether it will come out. As you said, on his day he can be a match winner, I wondered if the fact that Rob Lyon who was a great team manager and always seemed to bring out the best in some riders, had any bearing on his form, now Rob is not here?

Kings Lynn V Swindon 02/08/17
Bunce replied to therefused's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I agree the forecast was bad, it was raining hard where I live near Norwich, so couldn't risk travelling to Lynn for the expected rain off. Much to my amazement it went ahead, but from all accounts, I didn't miss much. I emailed the stadium a week ago asking if I could subscribe to the text service which updates fans if a meeting is cancelled, I'm told by several people on this forum it is still in operation, but did I get a reply to my request....Nope. Once again, total lack of communication to a fans enquiry, and it just sums up what everbody else has been saying on this forum about this Club. -
It seems Buster has listened to the fans, and taken action. Good for you Buster! I stood on the terraces at THAT meeting, and vowed that was the last meeting I was going to this year, I was that disgusted. Now Holder & Batchelor are gone, I shall end my self inflicted exile, and be back to support the team. We may not win anything this year, but as long as the guys give 100% and we see some decent racing, that will do me.

Belle Vue Aces Vs Poole Pirate 31/07
Bunce replied to SCB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A meeting was advertised in my Radio Times as being on BT Sport 2 at 7-30pm (didn't say which one) but its now vanished from my Sky planner, and also vanished from BT Sports online planner. Thats a bit of a blow, as I thought the weather forecast was OK for today for both PL meetings? Poor show by BT if they have pulled the plug that early? -
There's plenty of people work at the club.... Are they the ones in blue jackets that are frequently seen walking around stuffing chips or with fags hanging out of their mouths? Just another thing that looks so unprofessional when they are "supposed" to be working. I could accept it perhaps during the interval, but this is during the racing. No doubt somebody will say they are volunteers, and not paid members of staff, but that doesn't excuse it in my book. Rant over.

Thanks for the info about the text messages Steve. I wonder why I no longer receive them? I've had the same mobile number for years. I have looked on the Stars web site, and the most recent programme, but can find nothing about the weather service text messages, any idea how I re-subscribe? I seem to remember sending a message saying "subscribe" to a certain number. If you don't know, I'll have to email the stadium. Thanks again.

Don't forget Danny, some of us have a long way to travel to home meetings, in my case, I live 6 miles south of Norwich. If a meeting is in doubt, I'd rather not risk a wasted 100 mile round trip. I've done it many times in the past, and sat in the car park, only to have to turn round and drive back to Norwich again! Once upon a time we were able to subscribe to a Stars text service, that sent a text message to your mobile if a meeting was called off. Excellent idea, and it did save me some wasted trips, may be some thing to do with JC? That no longer happens, so as I said, far from being a "fair weather" fan, I just don't want to waste my time and money, especially with the current situation. A good explanation DWP, which sounds perfectly plausible. What I can't get my head around, is the race times. After Buster spread tons of sawdust on the track, and graded it, the riders were blasting round in times well under 60 seconds, which is quick for a perfect track, so if it was that unrideable, why weren't the times 64 seconds of something like that? Apart from the clouds of sawdust being kicked up, nobody looked to be having an issue that I could see. Very strange?

King's Lynn Vs Wolverhampton 26/7/2017

An interesting and honest article in the EDP, but surely Rob is a Promoter at Lynn, so why did Buster say “I’m sure it’s not the end of his time with the club and we are sure to see him again very soon.” That leaves some unanswered questions, and although I'm a great fan of Rob's, how can you be a Promoter of a Speedway Club, and yet not take any active part in its running? Is he a "silent partner"? Also if Buster is going to call meetings off every time we have a shower of rain, the fans are going to soon get pretty fed up with that. Seems like the tail is wagging the dog at the moment! Well at least he is to be congratulated for keeping us up to date, but in the long term there are still lots of issues to be addressed, is there any support on this forum for a drop back in to the Championship again? -
I've always rated Michael Palm-Toft as a rider, and after his performance at Leicester last night, we would be silly not to consider him if he is let go by Somerset, as some suggest?
-
Sadly, you are spot on with this post. However I suspect Jonathan has his own life and business to lead, and seeing the sorry state the whole sport is in, he is probably happy to keep well out of it. There is nothing better I would like to see than JC back at the helm, we might at least get some communication and honesty back in to the club, but unfortunately I can't see it happening.

King's Lynn V Rye House 19/07/17
Bunce replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Totally agree. Buster worked his socks off to get the track rideable, and it was. I've seen far worse tracks over the years, and his efforts were rewarded by "normal" speed racing and some very fast times. No rider had any hairy moments after the track work, and nobody crashed or fell off. However by that time, like you, I was totally gutted. It was a mixture of disbelief and anger at what I had just witnessed. I made my mind up as I left the stadium that I wouldn't be wasting my time and money any more here this season. I shall still follow the Stars, I always have and probably always will, but the sour taste that was left in my mouth will take a long time to go away. Since then, as usual, we have had almost no information. No updates. A very poor excuse of an apology and just the usual waffle. Where was Rob Lyon on the night? Why didn't one of the promoters come on to the centre green and explain to the fans what was happening? To rub salt in to the wound, "injured" Troy Batchelor who was unable to ride for his own team that night, guests twice this week to help our rivals score points against us! Beggars belief! As was previously said, Troy Batchelor hasn't broken any rules, but he also appears to have no morals and not a care in the World for the Lynn supporters, its just how much money he can pack in to his wallet. Well I can assure him, none of it will be my money. -
Batchelor crashed in his last race at Leicester tonight, so may now have a real hand injury!
-
Who took over as Team Manager after he was taken to hospital? I think it was Lieutenant Fletcher Christian !
-
I thought he clipped the back wheel of the rider in front of him?
-
You had better ask Kings Lynn speedway. It was their web site that posted the video, not me. They obviously wanted you to see it at its best. I was at the meeting, so I know what happened in the previous races, and did see the whole picture, but I don't control what they put on their web site.
-
But then made a miracle recovery to guest at Swindon tonight!
-
An excellent and accurate assessment of last night. None of us there deserved to be treated like that, and not a word of apology from the management until today, when the damage had been done. Many fans around me on the terraces said they won't be coming to the next meeting, and can you wonder at it. In all my years of watching the sport, I don't think I have ever been so hacked off, as last night.
-
That's true, but look at the times of the races last night. I think they were all under 60 seconds, very consistent throughout the meeting and although there wasn't much passing, there were one or two decent races. I've seen the Lynn track in far worse condition than that after very heavy rain, and the riders still gave it a go with times much slower than last night. It wasn't heavy rain, more like drizzle which hardly dampened my programme. I guess we will never know what went on in the pits last night, but I for one won't be parting with my cash again for a farce like that.

For those of you not at Saddlebow Rd last night, have a look at this video of Heat 14, taken from the Lynn web site courtesy of Re-Run videos. Does this look like a crap, difficult to ride track? I think I could have managed 4 laps on that surface! http://www.kingslynnstars.co/news.php?extend.30482

In all my time this was without doubt the greatest demolition, the sport has ever seen. If ever there a was occasion when the self destruct button was pressed, then it was last night. Having scored an impressive away victory the previous night, what could possibly happen to stop us gaining a double over our bitter rivals. Thinking before the start, how nice the place looked with the new shale, and that wonderful new electric scoreboard. With Rain in the air, I expected we will start on time, and the proceedings to flow. Batch won Heat 1 in an ultra quick time, but Kasprsak struggled to a halt, Heat 2 Rose won in another quick time and Shanes struggled. Lambert impressively won ht 3 but Starke struggled. A pattern is emerging. the times are getting slower, the races are spread out with only 3 finishers. Heat 4 Andersen beat Chris Holder from the gate to win, Chris give up on the second lap....Lambert again wins ht 5 with Kasprsak giving up . Heat 6 we are on a 5-1 when Batch hits trouble, Jorgensen takes over before coming to grief causing a 3 man pile-up. The track is deterriating before our very eyes. Holder refuses to come out for ht 7 and is excluded. There is mayhem in the pits nobody knows what going on. The night has turned into a nightmare. Buster has to take the lions share of the responsibility. He was to blame for the state of the track. Unofficially, We have been told the old shale reacted with the new stuff and went solid with no give. The Ref has to take some blame for the way the meeting was drawn out. Even a blind man could see the track was wrong, yet it took 4 people refusing to ride, before the Ref went to the pits to confront the problem. And lastly the riders have to take some blame as well. There were other people who struggled but it was Chris Holder who initiated the proceedings of not wanting to ride. Lambert who had 2 comfortable race wins was got at, else he would have continued. But it was so obvious the 2 Aussie couldn't give a damn for the sport, the fans or the fact this was an important meeting. They wanted out.... We fans had to wait over an hour for track work to be done, that should have been completed prior to the meeting, without one word of reason from the officials. They expected us to stand around and wait.. Eventually the meeting was completed, long pass the finishing time. The few people that remained went home in silence. this had been a knife through the heart of the sport. Never seen such shambles in all my life. I feel no urge left to ever go again. this was that bad... It appeared the senior riders were complaining of the track, yet the younger ones relished the conditions and put on a decent showing. Holder had Batch really went down in my estimation. Pity Chris didn't have the same attitude as his brother. Kasprsak , didn't like the track but he stayed the course and won a couple of races.. I won't comment on Lamberts antics, but he has to learn you never go into the spectators pen ..... whatever the reason.... Finally, tonight was probably the last meeting many will bother to go again. We fans were treated terribly, We didn't know anything, we were not told anything, and were expected to do as they thought fit. Such a shame because tonight could have been a wonderful time when we as a club get noticed...... We sure did that..... What a superb post. Like you, I was one of those that stood in complete disbelief at what I was watching unfold in front of me. After an excellent win at Poole the night before, I couldn't see how we could loose this meeting. We had a full strength team, with the return of Simon Lambert. Remember he scored 7+2 on his last appearance at Saddlebow Rd. Poole were using R/R and their number one rider KK was erratic to say the least. The opening time of 58.12 was less than a second outside the track record, so what could possibly go wrong? After three heats we were 6 points up, it was all going according to plan, or so I thought! I won't go through what happened next, as its been beautifully summarised above, but sadly it was probably one of the blackest days I can remember at this stadium in many a long year. We were treated as if we didn't matter, and I for one won't be going any more this season. That was the final straw for me, and what's really sad is to be honest, I don't care.

Poole Pirates Vs Kings Lynn Stars 12/07/17
Bunce replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Steve, I thought that was a fair and honest report of tonights match, and coming from a dedicated Poole supporter, that must have been a hard pill to swallow. Unfortunately when riders are injured its often very difficult to find a rider of the same standard to take their place, either on a permanent or temporary basis, its something all teams have to live with at some time, due to the shortage of quality riders available. Don't forget Lynn were without Simon Lambert tonight at reserve, and sadly I don't think Danny Ayres, for all his efforts, is a comparable replacement. It will be interesting to see how Poole do at Saddlebow Rd Thursday evening, lets hope for a good competitive match, what ever the result. -

Lovely jubbly. But don't bet against Poole turning the tables tomorrow night. Don't forget the Stars should have Simon Lambert back tomorrow, and on his last match before getting injured, he scored 7+2 at Saddlebow Rd against Swindon, that could make a big difference. Also Batchelor and Lambert will score more at home than at Poole. I'm going for a good Stars victory.
