  1. Thanks for that reply Rob, at least my memory is still working! I also have memories of waiting for my parents Daily Mirror to fall on to the door mat, so I could grab it and look at the results from the previous nights meetings. I would turn to the sports section, and there in tiny (very tiny) print under "other sports" would be the results, and sometimes the top scorers if I was lucky. How things have changed over the years with the advent of the Internet, and we still complain!
  2. An I right in saying that the BBC did sometimes show speedway years ago with Alan Weeks as the commentator? It was in black & white and was pretty terrible!
  3. I assume I can only get Virgin if my road has been cabled by them? In my case they haven't, and as I live in a village, its highly unlikely they ever will be. I do get BT sport half price as I have BT broadband, but as others have said, its an expensive way to watch the GP's.
  4. I think the referee should pay a visit to Specsavers after this meeting!
  5. Why on earth didn't they blade off the top surface and put down fresh dry shale and sawdust? Somebodys going to get hurt if this carries on.
  6. You are right Steve, heavy rain across Wales at the moment heading eastwards towards Wolverhampton. Doesn't look good for tonight. https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar
  7. So what has happened to the Ipswich v TBC meeting that was originally scheduled for the 10th ?
  8. Thanks all. It wasn't on the planner on my Sky box at the time, but has now changed. So I'm ready now. Will take the telephone off the hook, warm up the armchair, box of chocs and coffee to hand and may the best team win! Lets hope the weather holds out and they are both close exciting meetings.
  9. I just had a look at the BT Sport TV schedule on their web site, and Saturdays match at Ipswich was not on there. Where did you get the info from Skidder?
  10. Clive was a Kings Lynn regular and always gave 100% Very sad news that he has passed away. I send my condolences to all his family and friends.
  11. I was probably at that same meeting! Just shows how weird and localised the British weather can be.
  12. So when did all this rain fall at Kings Lynn? It drizzled slightly in Norwich at 1pm today, and is spitting now, but hardly enough to dampen the Mrs washing on the line. Yesterday (sunday) was lovely here, and in the afternoon I was sunbathing on the back straight at Mildenhall in clouds of dust, so I'm puzzled how the weather can be so much worse only an hours drive North of here? Maybe somebody in Lynn can confirm that hurricane Dorian has arrived there!
  13. The best thing I've seen tonight, is Scott's shirt! Much more interesting than the racing.
  14. Sad news indeed. A stalwart of the Stars team for several years, he always gave 100% and was part of my teen years spent at Saddlebow Road every Saturday night. My condolences go to his family, he will always be part of the Stars family and will not be forgotten. Born in Kings Lynn, and rode for Kings Lynn, I had the pleasure of meeting him in Norwich a few years back at a World Speedway riders dinner. I've only just found out this sad news, and wondered if anybody knows when the Memorial Service for him is to be held in the Hope Church in Norwich? I may have missed it, but would like to pay my last respects if possible.
  15. Craig Cook pulled out of the Championship riders Final after 3 rides with illness, I wonder if he is a doubt for tonight? Nothing on the Stars web site, they include him in the line up.
  16. If it wasn't for their coverage of the GP's. I would ditch BT Sport, their League coverage has been very poor, and now they change this meeting for rudy German Football.
  17. Wow! What a meeting! Must be the best GP yet? Great track with riders attacking from all directions, and able to ride numerous lines with great success. I do hope that Wroclaw is on the GP list for next year, I don't think I have enjoyed a meeting as much as this for years. Well done to all involved.
  18. Hi Ove, I've just turned on the 24 hour Spa event, and as you say it appears to have just started. It is on again at 9pm tonight, so maybe they are just showing bits of it, I can't see them covering every minute of the 24 hrs! I guess we shall just have to wait and see? Fun isn't it? PS I'm also an Ove Fundin/ Norwich fan, met him several times over the years. Lovely guy.
  19. It is, but as the meeting is supposed to start at 5pm (UK time) we have a feeling Eurosport might cut off the beginning of the meeting due to the previous "live" event they are showing. We won't know until we get to 5pm. Eurosport are past masters at only showing part of the meeting!
  20. When Chris Holder kicked off about the track, he was shown the door! Not the same situation obviously, but Buster doesn't take kindly to his track being criticised.
  21. Thanks R & R, I'll keep a look out. I just don't trust Eurosport when it comes to Speedway coverage, they seem to think its fine to start a meeting half way through!
  22. Wasn't there a live feed on the Internet for the last round? Seem to remember I watched it in Polish, but at least I got the whole meeting! Eurosport started one televised meeting at Heat 19 if I remember correctly? I would prefer to watch it on my large screen TV, but if there is a live feed at least we get to see it all.
  23. In my case I have been to Kings Lynn this year, and living near Norwich, go to Mildenhall sometimes as well. The reason I'm on the Forum is I follow ALL speedway, not just Kings Lynn. I have followed the sport for 56 years, my first meeting being at the Firs in 1963. First went to Lynn in 1967 and went twice a week when the "Starlets" were running as well. Followed the Stars all over the UK and once went to Poole and back in the same day, returning in dense fog! Just because I don't go every week does that mean you think I shouldn't be on a speedway forum? I find it interesting to hear everybody's opinion and many posts on this forum point out the cost, and general lack of entertainment at many tracks in the UK, not just Kings Lynn. For this very reason people who would never miss a meeting (I include myself here) have drifted away from the sport and tend to watch it from the back benches, hoping something will change to bring us back in the the fold again. As you rightly say, "If we don't go to meetings, there'll be no meetings" but I wonder whose fault that is? I was delighted to read there was a good crowd at Saddlebow Road last night, who knows, maybe I'll be encouraged to go again?
  24. Same here. Now I'm retired we have to watch costs, and living south of Norwich the total cost for myself and my wife, with fuel, admission and a couple of programmes is £60 per meeting. I can't say the racing was very entertaining on our last few visits, so we stopped going, as we felt it was poor value for that amount of money for us. I still class myself as a fan, and follow everything that goes on, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to motivate myself to do that 100 mile round trip. I don't know if its just us, or if other fans feel the same way?
  25. I emailed Eurosport as well, after their last pathetic effort where coverage started at Heat 19 !!! I asked if they were now going to cover football from the 80th minute only? Naturally I didn't even get a reply. Thanks very much for the Polish link, seems to work fine, its showing Formula E car racing at the moment. Looks like I'll be eating my evening meal in front of the PC screen now!
