  1. It looks as if some fans can't wait for the Pirates to race again. They have camped out early ready to get tickets. https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/19280683.travellers-set-unauthorised-encampment-poole-stadium-lorry-park/
  2. Thanks Trackerman. I guess it should have read "inflatable fence" not "inflatable track" as it said on the BSPA statement, would have made more sense to me then! Great idea though, anything to get youngsters skidding round is good. I had visions of four bikes on a bouncy castle!!!
  3. What's an "inflatable track" mentioned in John Campbell's statement on the BSPA web site? Not heard of that before.
  4. Oh Yes, most Kings Lynn meetings and Mildenhall as well.
  5. Excellent idea. I've always missed the traditional "second halves" and thought it was an opportunity missed to give youngsters some much needed track time. To put these juniors in to a proper organised race format is just the experience they need, and I'm sure fans will stay behind after the main event to give them encouragement, I certainly will.
  6. With the Stars appearing to have 8.13 points to play with for their final rider, anybody heard any rumours or predictions for that final slot? Peterborough and Sheffield also have a place to fill, but the Stars have the most points to play with. Interesting!
  7. This Company quote Red Shale in their list of products. https://prestigeaggregates.co.uk/products.html
  8. Totally agree. I've been following the Stars since 1969 through thick and thin (mostly thin) at times going twice a week when the Starlets were also running, but for the last few years I have been increasingly bored with the racing, the rising costs and the perceived lack of value for money. Sometimes the meetings seem to drag on, with us supporters standing for ages on the terraces waiting for the action to start. The disease that is "gardening" seems to be getting worse at all tracks and even the GP's can't escape it. Sometimes on my long dark drives back to my home near Norwich, I think to myself "why did I bother tonight?" and yet I will often turn up the next week for a dose of the same mediocre fayre. Sadly what I've found out over the last year and the Covid lockdown, is that I really don't miss it that much, which I feel sad about as I've supported Speedway since I was 13 years old, starting at the Firs in Norwich in 1963. Will the sport, and Kings Lynn, rekindle my love of Speedway in 2021? I really don't know. I wonder how many fans in my age group feel the same, and are there enough younger fans to keep the sport alive after oldies like myself find the love has died. I applaude the effort to include "rising stars" in the teams, as that is one way to give younger riders a chance to progress and experience racing at a higher level, but I ask myself what is being done to encourage new fans, or even older fans like myself, to turn up each week and part with our money? The sport has come to many crossroads in its time, and against all odds has always managed to survive. However with all sports in crisis at the moment, I fear for the future of Speedway but hope that I am proved wrong.
  9. In 2006 Olle and Ove Fundin, along with other riders and a support crew, rode thousands of miles across Asia on motorcycles. I think Olle was 76 at the time! Don't remember the exact details, but have vague memories of Olle having to return home after injury or sickness on the route? Maybe somebody else remembers more than me. This web site is all I could find, but it shows a few photos from the trip plus the incrdible route they took. It was in Swedish, but I did a Google translation. I found if I clicked on the word "translating" it opened the page. https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=sv&u=https://www.swes.se/2006/07/trans-asia-expedition/&prev=search&pto=aue
  10. Very sad news. My first experience of Speedway was 1963, as I lived within walking distance of the Firs stadium in Norwich. Olle was in the team along with my hero Ove Fundin, and they made a potent spearhead. I remember an incident in 1965 after the stadium had closed, when my brother and I heard speedway bikes in the distance from our front garden. Totally puzzled as to why we were hearing this from the stadium, we cycled over to the Firs, to find Olle along with some young Swedish riders, practicing on the track. I have no idea if he was supposed to be there, as I thought the stadium was locked up ready for demolition, but as I was only 15 I wasn't going to ask! We stayed until they had finished, then had a quick cycle round the track before heading for home. I would like to send all his family and friends my condolences, he will be missed. R.I.P. Olle.
  11. He used to live in Springfield Road in Taverham before moving to Felixtowe many years ago.
  12. In 2019 we had Cook AND Lambert, now we just have Cook, so I wonder where our spearhead is going to come from in Heats 13 & 15? With so many riders opting to not ride in the UK in 2021, the barrel is looking very empty at the moment.
  13. Yes, looks like Peterborough to me. I wonder why they used a speedway clip in that scene? Many episodes of "Tales of the Unexpected" were filmed around the Norwich and Norfolk area, as it was an Anglia TV production. Living near Norwich I often see the City streets being used in episodes with some quite famous stars. In one episode, Telly Savalas (of Kojak fame) was walking through the famous "Marble Hall" of the Norwich Union Insurance building in Surrey St, and in another Richard Briers opened a coffee shop in Upper St Giles St then another in Tombland opposite Norwich Cathedral.
  14. We should be OK, Terry Betts and Tomas Topinka are now on standby.
  15. I thought the saying was "As young as the woman you feel" Apologies to any young ladies reading this!
  16. Spot on. I certainly fall in to one of those categories!
  17. But I prefer plain chocolate on my digestives, so I'm going to boycott any decisions at the meeting!
  18. After the "Holdergate" incident at Kings Lynn, when both Chris Holder and Troy Batchelor were sacked, I'd be very surprised if Batchelor was ever allowed back in Kings Lynn's colours again. I suspect Buster, like most fans won't forgive that easily?
  19. Born July 1952. https://companycheck.co.uk/director/904871308/MR-CLARKE-ANTHONY-OSBORNE/summary
  20. Just what I was thinking! With Robert Lambert gone, and a huge pair of boots to fill, who could be better but Jason Doyle now that Swindon have stated they won't be running in 2021? What's even better is he lives on the outskirts of Norwich near the A47, so only 45 minutes from his front door to Saddlebow Road. I would love to see him at Lynn always been one of my favourites for his 100% effort style of riding.
  21. Haven't they got Covid 19 in the Mildura area? Didn't see anybody wearing a facemask, and certainly no social distancing.
  22. I guess we have to accept it was just a matter of time before this happened. Are any other Clubs/Riders in the UK affected in the same way by the Polish rules? Now Kings Lynn have to plan for life without Robert and I wonder what "Plan B" is. In fact I wonder if there IS a "Plan B" His are mighty big boots to fill, and with the number of top class heat leaders diminishing all the time, will the AGM be the time to change the whole structure of British Speedway? We will have to wait and see!
