  1. I would have considered Max Clegg or Matthew Wethers for team spots if their averages hasn't suddenly gone up. Not sure why they really have to remove the Newcastle fixtures from the averages as all they are doing in making averages less realistic. In this case almost certainly putting two riders, who have been loyal to British speedway, out of a job!
  2. I'd say Cook doesn't have to recapture his old form, he only needs to up his 8.2 ave to be considered a good signing. Which I believe he could do at Edinburgh.
  3. Now another team has been completed, it's easier to judge Berwick's 1-7. Oxford have clearly got a much stronger heat leader trio (will probably be the best in the league). However I'd say Berwick have a much stronger second string pairing & a slightly stronger reserves.
  4. I don't really understand this argument that bonus points will benefit "technical tracks" as 1) Teams have to win on aggregate in the play-offs already 2) clubs like Edinburgh & Wolves keep qualifying for the play-offs but don't win on aggregate, I assume most people would say these are "technical" tracks?
  5. 1) it doesn't look good 2) it will continue to look bad till other clubs complete their teams, as it's hard not to compare it to 2022 teams with the 42 limit. Once more clubs complete their sides to 40 points, Berwick may look better?
  6. I heard nothing at all to suggest the 10 match rolling ave won't be staying! Not a fan of it myself btw
  7. Putting a positive attitude of Berwick's team: The 3 heat leaders should all be looking to reach 8.0 aves. Etheridge's home form should stop his average dropping. Knudsen should be looking at a 6.5 / 7.0 ave. Given a full season in the Champ both reserves have the capability of reaching 3.0 aves. (Perhaps whoever is number six will end up on 2.0 & number seven 3.5).
  8. Hume was one of only 3 "rising stars" to average over 4, has upped his Championship average in each of his last two seasons, if that's not "rising" I don't know what is?
  9. On paper the Berwick team looks weak. But until more clubs are signed can't comment of they are a title challenging side or not! * The 7th best team of 9 could be "title challenging" as they would only be one place from the play-offs!
  10. Jorgensen isn't on an old average, he's on a converted average (one he has never reached)
  11. I'd say they have done something special - they've told the fans what's going on!
  12. How will the season be over. Are you suggesting after the 1st set of averages Berwick won't be able to even reach 6th place in the league?
  13. I'm not a fan of race suits, as it makes it harder to tell who the riders are. Also seems an unnecessary expense of clubs have to produce 7+ new race suits every season. Although if fans pay for them to keep after the season, that would make financial sense to clubs!
  14. I don't think I'd go as high as 25% but I'd be happy for the reduction to be more than 2.5%.
  15. I hope if Mildenhall are planning to pack it in, they would announce it early enough to allow another promoter to come in & run it?
  16. If there are 9 teams running can only see the league being 1 home & 1 away, clubs who double up couldn't fit in much more. Hopefully Kent, Mildenhall & Workington also race a "National Trophy" mini league between them for extra matches. Pairs, Fours & Riders Chamo could also be raced at the 3 standalone tracks for an extra match, us of course a KOC for everyone who wants to enter. Be good if Workington, Glasgow, Edinburgh & Berwick put on a Northern Fours event, one leg at each track?
  17. Hume may be one of the if not the weakest number 6 in the league, but I'd say he's being signed so the top 5 is stronger not to strengthen the reserve berth! I still think he's better than some make out, for example his Champ ave is 1 point above Mountain's who many seem to rate!
  18. But in Peterborough's case they would be signing a 4.1 rider on a 3.1 average, Wolves signed 2 riders on their actual aves!
  19. Very disappointed if that's the case, one good rule brought in to help improving British riders, short handedly gotten rid of as it doesn't help other promoters to win! I think Danyon Hume would find it very hard to get a spot without the 25% reduction. Makes the RS system pointless if a rider improves then gets dropped once he's no longer a RS! Surely the whole point of the RS system is to bring riders on to fill other spots in the team!
  20. Disappointed to see quite a few comments along the lines of "if Ipswich have Hume at reserve alongside a RS, they'll get the wooden spoon" 1) surely with a bigger reduction 4.09 down to 3.07, Hume would be a good signing? 2) shame about the lack of "backing the Brits" 3) surely Hume / Brennan / Mountain moving up is what's best for British Speedway? Riders can't stay "rising stars" forever, so I'm hopeful all 3 will get team spots!
  21. That shouldn't be an issue, as long as he's fit by the play-offs. I'm pretty sure Sheffield will reach the top 4, even if they have to carry him till he's up to speed!
  22. "The inclusion of a MYLAPS timing system is great, it won’t fundamentally change the sport, but all the timings will be accurate and there will be no dead heats or poor decisions when it comes to the finish line" What happens if two riders have identical times lol!
