  1. I'm sure he'd get another club if not at Berwick.
  2. I'm expecting Coles & Stoneman to spearhead the team. Can't see Greg Blair getting dropped, so does that leave room for Ace Pijper?
  3. While the points limit is higher, the league isn't any stronger as each season teams on average should end up at 42. I'm hoping not lowering the limit will stop riders improving, upping their average & therefore missing out on a team spot!
  4. I think every team in the league would want Luke Harrison!
  5. My first attempt at a team Workington Kyle Bickley 9.58 Lee Complin 7.27 Luke Crang 7.23 Ace Pijper 6.90 George Rothery 4.92 Gregor Miller 3.07 Kyran Lyden 3.00 Total 41.97
  6. I'd have to disagree with the last comment as Kemp has just finished with his highest Champ average yet! I do agree that he hasn't ridden to his early potential though! Big task would be keeping his Champ average in the top 5 (if he has a team).
  7. If there's more riders than team places available, clubs can try & get them cheaper. If it's a 42 point limit, heat leaders know they are in demand & can request more money. I'm not suggesting riders don't deserve to be paid well, just that clubs can't afford it. Until thousands of fans return, clubs need to make speedway feasible to avoid the Eastbourne & Newcastle situations happening again. The riders unfortunately need to realise the money isn't there for them to demand payment that allows them top equipment & the best tuners.
  8. The plan is to get rid of the 9/10 point riders to make it cheaper. The same promoters who vote for that plan, then fill their teams with top heat leaders & 2.00 reserves, meaning the 4/5/6 point riders may miss out!
  9. I'm not so sure, once he gets a new Champ ave he'd have to sign for the Prem on his converted ave. Current Prem ave is 5.15, converted Champ would be 5.49. I'd Prem clubs don't think he's worth signing on the lower ave, I can't imagine they would on thel higher ave? Obviously if his Champ average lowers his converted ave will lower, but would he be in demand if that happens? I think Nicholls will be happy with the current situation. Midweek track, less Saturdays with Leicester moving up, can still pick & choose guests booking in the Prem if he wants. Still good enough to be a heat leader in the Champ & more time for TV commitments.
  10. Riders on the up (like Brennan) got a lower average than his ability, which helped Glasgow build a stronger team, but didn't really help him find a club as he was always going to get a team. Kennett was left on a very unfavorable average & was lucky to get signed on an ave 1 point above his ability. Worked out for Plymouth when he got injured, otherwise they would only have got 7.5 averaged guests for the season! If they want to limit doubling up between the top 2 divisions, making it harder for Wethers & Clegg (who were not likely to get a Prem spot) to get a Champ team, wont help that!
  11. The Premiership have 2 home, 2 away. I'm assuming you mean the Championship? I think there were two reasons for this, 1) because the league wouldn't have been finished by September for the play-offs & 2) to keep the NL going, as clubs with 16 home matches were going to pull out of the NL?
  12. I would have considered Max Clegg or Matthew Wethers for team spots if their averages hasn't suddenly gone up. Not sure why they really have to remove the Newcastle fixtures from the averages as all they are doing in making averages less realistic. In this case almost certainly putting two riders, who have been loyal to British speedway, out of a job!
  13. I'd say Cook doesn't have to recapture his old form, he only needs to up his 8.2 ave to be considered a good signing. Which I believe he could do at Edinburgh.
  14. Now another team has been completed, it's easier to judge Berwick's 1-7. Oxford have clearly got a much stronger heat leader trio (will probably be the best in the league). However I'd say Berwick have a much stronger second string pairing & a slightly stronger reserves.
  15. I don't really understand this argument that bonus points will benefit "technical tracks" as 1) Teams have to win on aggregate in the play-offs already 2) clubs like Edinburgh & Wolves keep qualifying for the play-offs but don't win on aggregate, I assume most people would say these are "technical" tracks?
  16. 1) it doesn't look good 2) it will continue to look bad till other clubs complete their teams, as it's hard not to compare it to 2022 teams with the 42 limit. Once more clubs complete their sides to 40 points, Berwick may look better?
  17. I heard nothing at all to suggest the 10 match rolling ave won't be staying! Not a fan of it myself btw
  18. Putting a positive attitude of Berwick's team: The 3 heat leaders should all be looking to reach 8.0 aves. Etheridge's home form should stop his average dropping. Knudsen should be looking at a 6.5 / 7.0 ave. Given a full season in the Champ both reserves have the capability of reaching 3.0 aves. (Perhaps whoever is number six will end up on 2.0 & number seven 3.5).
  19. Hume was one of only 3 "rising stars" to average over 4, has upped his Championship average in each of his last two seasons, if that's not "rising" I don't know what is?
