  1. Leicester finished 2021 on 42.35 for 6 riders, so were always going to look weaker, having to pick a 7 man team under 42.00!
  2. Offer him what you can afford, not what he wants (same for every signing).
  3. I expect Birmingham to be well below the 42.00 limit so I wouldn't pick a 3.00 Smith at reserve. Fill the team with 4/5 point men & at least you'll always have good reserves.
  4. You're certainly in a better place than Edinburgh or Poole fans though!
  5. Leicester's reserves certainly have the potential to up their averages, but Rowe certainly didn't score well in the Champ, hence his low average. If he can show how early season Ipswich form, then certainly Leicester will be have a strong reserve.
  6. My views of changes, one is stronger, one is equal, two are weaker. Douglas vs Ellis (+) Allen vs Jorgensen (=) Kennedy vs Pijper (-) Kinsley vs MacDonald (-) For Newcastle hard to judge with another rider to sign BWD vs Barker (=) An Other vs Roynon (?) Starke vs Mountain (+) Congreve vs Freeman (?)
  7. Nathan Greaves started 2021 on 9.22, which was his Champ ave doubled (4.61), not his most recent NL average, which was 8.36!
  8. Oxford 2022? Troy Batchelor 8.98 Scott Nicholls 8.95 Ty Proctor 5.42 Cameron Heeps 4.95 Kyle Newman 4.90 Jack Thomas 4.79 Valentin Grobauer 4.00 Total 41.99
  9. I've made similar comments, someone says they don't want Crump, so I say who would you prefer, they reply with "a 6 point rider who will average 7.5" (but don't name names). It's easy to be negative about a signing, but far harder to suggest a stronger alternative!
  10. Gotta disagree with you, if they wanted a rider, why not sign him now instead of April / May? Can't see any of the riders dropping their averages by much to allow the team to strengthen either!
  11. I disagree, the "middle of nowhere" would suggest a track that isn't near any other track, up in the Highlands! The fours was held for years at Peterborough, which, while more central than Poole isn't close to the Scottish tracks. But there was always good crowds there when I went.
  12. Tbh they with their top 3, Leicester won't need many points from 2 or 4 to win matches imo.
  13. Mountain only rode 3 matches at number 5. But rode plenty at number 3. So as heats 8+14 are usually weaker than heat 12, should score more even before allowing for improvement!
  14. Just because it's been talked about in here doesn't make it official! If the BSPL only posted the final aves, we would know for sure! If the clubs know the averages, why can't the fans?
  15. I don't know why speedway clubs don't just refuse the pay loan fees, transfer deals. There's no way the "asset system" would hold up in court after the Bosman ruling!
  16. I don't think any signings Birmingham make will make you say "wow, what a great team we'll have" but should make you say "at least we have speedway"
  17. With Leicester having a powerful heat leader trio, Rowe will get nowhere near a heat leader spot! He may still have a great season & up his average, but not be a heat leader.
  18. After moving up into the top 5 in 2021, Bowtell should be aiming for a number 8 spot in the Prem rather than racing in NL imo
  19. Regardless of who is named the RS, it makes no difference, either can ride at 6 or 7 & their points count the same! Wouldn't call either of them the "main reserve"
  20. Rowe was better in the Prem & Brennan was better in the Champ. So who's the better rider?
  21. Batchelor was just under 9, Holder is just over 7, so there's a bit of a difference. As for "high paid" just offer him what you can afford!
  22. There's no reason they can't swap riders around based on form / opposition / or if you have a track specialist, but very few managers change the order once picked!
  23. I agree, as a team using their number 8 will be weakening themselves! But does make sense to have a no 8 when using r/r incase of injuries - but not use them unless you have to.
  24. Two rule changes have been agreed concerning team composition: Any rider who started the 2021 season in the NDL and achieved an average above 4.00 in the Championship is still eligible to compete in the NDL. Is the above a rule change though? Max Clegg had a Champ ave above 4.00 & doubled up last year (briefly). So what has changed?
