  1. Interesting if that’s the case Phil. Doyle is absolutely loved by both Chris Louis and Ritchie Hawkins to the point that if they decided to pick just one of them, I’d feel sure they’d plump for Doyle. As I’ve said, if they want the title they should be picking one of them, but I still think they’ll go for both. We’ll see.
  2. We differ completely here. I love watching entertainment as much as anyone, and there’s no doubt whatsoever that Having Emil and Doyle brings that in bucket loads. But it’ll now be 26 years since we’ve lifted the title and my patience is wearing a bit thin. Entertaining over success? Not for me this time. Our best chance of a title IMO is going with one of the top 2 and then packing in below him. I wouldn’t want to make that decision though!
  3. You’re right and this will become more of an issue if more of the top riders return next season. Lindgren is one who is heavily linked to return, and there could well be others. All it takes is for teams to take points off Doyle and Emil which will happen more frequently next year with the likes of Lindgren, Woffinden and maybe others, then the team will get soundly beaten because the bottom three won’t out score the bottom 3 of most others. Look what happened at Sheffield when Emil had a ropey first two rides and Doyle failed to get double figures. The result then was all too predictable. Im expecting Doyle Emil and King back, but personally I’d make a decision on picking one of the top two and then squeezing in a solid middle order rider to replace Riss and push Rew down to reserve.
  4. Must admit that’s something I never noticed with him when he was at Ipswich a couple of seasons ago either.
  5. If Louis wants him there isn’t a doubt in my mind he’ll be back at Ipswich. He won’t be better off financially anywhere else I know that much. He’s looked comfortable at Foxhall and his best performances have come there as you’d naturally expect being his home track. I do think he’d thrive with the NSS as his home track though. IF he moved there I could easily see him putting two points on his average and being a 6 pointer in his second season here. Hopefully Louis is smart enough not to give a rival that advantage!
  6. Reading the Speedway Star this morning, seems like you won’t be far off there. Currently slightly over this season’s points limit, but if it’s raised slightly, little change is expected. “I don’t want to change the team massively because we’ve got a great basis of a side here” Hawkins.
  7. He might well be next year if the rumours are true!
  8. I’m guessing that’s to try and accommodate a fair few of the NDL riders in to the Championship who’ll otherwise be out of a job/quit?
  9. Tarasenko seems a bit overrated on here for me. He’s ok and was obviously a good signing on his assessed 5.00, but now? Not so sure. His current average looks about right to me, little increase if any in my opinion. The trick as always, is to get the next Tarasenko over on a 5.00. The other lad Peterborough had over would be a much better signing as he’s still on his assessed average. Always a risk on the reliability side of things though.
  10. Or setting up another Ipswich team the other side of town and called it Ipswich Wizards. Could have an Ipswich Witches v Ipswich Wizards final! Even we couldn’t stuff that one up
  11. Let someone else take that chance. This issue has been going on since the season started in late March, and by his own admission is still an ongoing issue. Far too much of a risk in banking on him getting back to 100% next March. There were far too many duck eggs in the closing weeks of the season for my liking, not a good sign. We surely have to look elsewhere. One thing is pretty certain though, the team should be wrapped up far quicker than it was this year for obvious reasons. The bulk is probably already done.
  12. There’s also no point building a team without Danny King in it.
  13. That’s more to do with Bank Holidays not being a work day, rather than a non School day.

  15. That second team would clean up. Looks far superior. Just shows how strong a team can look all the way down when not retaining the top two.
  16. Lovely words from him. You could tell how much he was enjoying it here every week. At no point throughout the season did you ever feel he wasn’t enjoying it or didn’t really want to be here like you get with so many others.
  17. This is my point. You’ve got a current reserve and a current Rising Star in the main body of the side. That side wouldn’t even make the play offs.
  18. I’m not dead against it, I’ve watched them all year and they’re box office I just don’t think it’s the smartest thing to do if we want to go one better next year. If we did go for them both, we’re gonna need a couple of major Rabbits pulled from CL’s hat. think there could well be a few extra quality riders coming in. Pawlicki has already said he wants in, Janowski and Dudek have already toyed with the idea whilst they were IN the Gp’s, now they might just bite the bullet. All would be on good averages compared to our two. You could see some very strong looking teams next year. Sometimes you have to overrule your heart and go with your head.
  19. As an Ipswich supporter I think we’d be mad as well to be honest. It’s ok when Emil is on an 8.00 but over 10? At the start of the year the top two had a combined average of 18.32, they now sit on 19.22 between them, almost a point more. I can’t be the only one that feared a 5-1 or 4-2 in every heat on Thursday that didn’t involve Doyle or Emil? As much as it pains me to say it, but for me it has to be one or the other and then build with a bit more strength in the middle order and reserve. I’ll use Musielak just as an example as I’m sure he’ll be back at Sheffield, but you could go Doyle and Musielak up top for a combined average of 17.81 which would give you nearly a point and a half more than the current top two to fit in a stronger number 6. That kinda makes sense to me as hard as it would be to see Emil (or Doyle) ride for someone else! You could now possibly see Dudek come in to British Speedway. Not as good as Emil no, but on an 8.00 as apposed to 10.10 and as daft as it sounds, he’d arguably be the better signing. All about increasing your averages, Dudek would surely increase an 8.00, would Emil increase 10.10?
