Berwick v Scunthorpe07/05/26 Championship 7pm

If Jye is doubtful i would get Lambert to guest -
Berwick fresh from reaching their 2nd semi-final of the season, welcome Scunthorpe as they get their league campaign underway. For the Bandits already with injury problems they use R/R for Peter Kildemand with Dayle Wood guesting for Reid Battye. Scunthorpe have 1 change with Dan Gilkes brought in to replace Simon Lambert, who in the past has ranked Berwick as one of his favourite away tracks. Scunthorpe will be hoping Pickering continues his current form to keep score respectable. Prediction- With bonus points important in reaching a playoff position can see a 56-34 home win.

Hagon & Mulford going by Scunny website. -
If a rider has not declared illness or injury to the Referee before the closure of the meeting, as per the Meeting Report, then subsequently provides a medical certificate, they will receive a mandatory 7 day suspension of their SCB Registration h) sick or carrying a non-speedway injury. The rider must immediately inform the SCB and their club. A Medical Certificate must be supplied to the SCB within 48 hours of the sickness/injury occurring in which case the rider will receive a mandatory 7 day suspension of his SCB Registration from the day of the first meeting missed.

To be fair Reid has only had 1 away meeting so a bit early to judge him. Hopefully Hagon has a good meeting to hopefully put Berwick top of the table at Glasgow's expense should we win both meetings at the weekend.

We can now confirm the extent of Reid’s injuries, following his crash at Berwick on Saturday. It has been confirmed he’s suffered a broken t7 vertebrae, along with a broken nose, bruised chin and some bruised ribs. The vertebrae break was stable enough for Reid to be released from hospital last night. He will now require a spell on the side lines as the injuries heal & will do everything in his power to get back to 100% as soon as possible. Club fb post this morning

Bandits welcome Workington, hoping to progress to the next round, something they haven't done since 2015. Bandits are at full strength with Lasse Fredriksen making his home debut, and Jack Smith declaring himself fit to ride. Workington bring in Dayle Wood as a guest for the injured Vinnie Foord. Again this has the makings of a tight contest with Cook, Jeppesen & Batchelor all capable of scoring well, so this could be another meeting where the reserves determine the result. My prediction 50-40.

Look at Berwick there is a bear on town coat of arms but we are called Bandits
-
Berwick in 1968 although the experts back then didn't think we would last more than a season
-
I can remember when practice used to be from around 10am to around 6pm. Lots of riders would turn up hoping to impress. I also remember school teacher taking us on a if my memory still working a Tuesday afternoon to watch the Bandits practising. As Mary Hopkin said Those Were The Days. Sunday afternoons at Berwick were regular as well
