It could be a great little club. I myself think the stadium is grea, maybe a little tired but a lick of paint could soon sort that out. Although access to any facilities is quite a treck form the backstraight now that the pit lane has been closed off. Why would the promoter not allow the supporters take pride in their club and help re energise it. What has happened in the past to create such a gulf between the promoter and the supporters? Genuine question.

I may not know much about speedway but I do know about currency conversion. The Zloty is pretty worthless. A Zloty is worth 20p that makes it 40 PLZ to my calculations, at today's market. £8.00 to you and I versus 40 PLZ to the average Polish wage. That argument holds not weight.

I agree I have 1 that does(boy 23) 1 who will come if pressured(boy 26) and 1 that flatly refuses(girl 20).
-
But they already go. So no need to attract them!!!!! That's the problem constantly looking back. Tony would be doing cartwheels if there were more people on the terraces paying top riders wage. The problem is there are too many 'mature' fans who reject any ideas to drag the sport kicking and screamimg into the 21st century and they just want to reminisce all the time but...... the 'good old days' don't pay modern wages i'm affraid. I'm constantly being accused of not being a 'true' supporter or don't know what i'm talking about. All because I've only watched the sport since 2008 and know the square route of bugger all about 'the past'

Today's world is all about image and glamour. Speedway needs to be glamorous. Getting Tai and his girlfriend in Hello. thats more today's marketing must Serious suggestion btw
-
Some of the suggestions although sound silly may not be far off the mark of the modern day spectacle which youngsters identify with but I would certainly start the parade early and involve the kids in the parade. One thing that speedway has over football is accessibility to the competitors
-
So what would you do? if you had a free range of the rule book.
-
There will be a rule change at the NL AGM surely, there has to be. Many lads may not want to ride in NL instead, concentrating on PL and EL so those that don't appear on the 'list' for whatever reason can ride in the NL as clubs like Dudley and Mildenhall will still want to keep their teams competitive :-)
-
'Sponsorship' is very difficult to police unfortunately.
-
Wasn't the whole point of the exercise for the lads to gain experience rather than a money?. I'm sure some will have that enhanced by 'sponsorship'.
-
I know 1 rider who is running good reliable Jawa's to keep costs low as servicing is cheaper and he keeps getting laughed at in the pits. and told if he doesn't switch to GM he will never get anywhere So you need to keep up with the Jones' I'm afraid in this sport.

QUOTE Elite League: 10 teams: Belle Vue, Birmingham, Coventry, Eastbourne, King’s Lynn, Lakeside, Leicester, Poole, Swindon, Wolverhampton. Points limit 32 (top five riders); National League riders at No.6 and No.7 Teams meet each other twice home and away - minimum 18 home fixtures, 36 in league programme. Play-offs as before (for top four teams). Do we know what constitutes a NL rider yet? or is that still being drawn up

Don't tell me the dirt is different aswell. but I do admit compared to say......Basketball Grasstrack is the similar to speedway.
-
Not using them is not the same as not having them. Thank you for the advice but I have attended
-
It's ridden on a field (often ondulating), with 8 riders, bikes have gears and brakes I'd say the only similarity is it's on an oval...ish track. I would say you are doing the grasstrackers a disservice by calling the speedway for beginners. I agree that the riders that compete in a couple of disciplines tend to do better
-
Why not go the whole hog and say that is what Grasstrack and MX is for. Grasstrack isn't speedway for beginners it's a different sport all together
-
It could be to even things out. Maybe some of the EL teams just don't have the home grown talent, yet!!!so for this season and possibly next teams will be allocated riders then in subsequent years they will have to develop their own. KL have the pick of the YS. Wolves have the pick of Dudley, Cov have the Storm and Birmingham could maybe make a pair out of the 2 but where would Lakeside, for example, draw from? This needs to be taken in the wider context not just the here and now. You need to give things time to work. I would be interested in weather the experiment stands the test of time. I hope it does. You'd think that the sharing out of riders would be done sensibly. It will be interesting to see what the riders 'on the list' think
-
You have summed it up nicely. My team are talking of going EL I'm not that keen but I will go because I have had what I've wanted and it's time for someone else, with my support.
-
I don't think it matters what the points limit is. At the end of the day if you want a good no.1 the goodnumber 1's are going to demand, whatever their average. The high scoring reserve who lets face it is onlyhigh scoring because they are on a false average will still demand. If they can score 12/13 on a 3.00 or 5.00 they are not a 3.00 or a 5.00 point rider simples!. It's supply and demand. Averages are massaged to suit the climate and the public are cheated something needs to be done about that aswell and the more the points are lowered the more that will go on.
-
I would have thought so. There wouldn't be enough U21's if they were to include the PL. You would need 40 odd unless they double up. Has anyone heard what leagues they are all riding in?. I imagine that would be the 1st point on the agenda
-
If they could come up with a plan that would reinvigorate the sport TV would be knocking on his door
-
Although I agree whole heartedly with your post the fact remains there is little point in agreeing stuff that a broadcaster may want to change anyway. I would say that is where the problem lies. At the end of the day the broadcaster calls the shots and Russell will be desperate for a deal as he makes a packet

What Can Be Done For Young British Riders.

British riders don't need preferential treatment just a fair crack of the whip. Possibly an easy comparison to make but bringing Ryan Douglas halfway round the world instead of having Kerr which lets face it the only option Kerr had at the beginning of 2013 was a double up place at Leicester with Blackbird until Jason King decided he wasn't fit and Newcastle found themselves in a sticky situation.
