Scunthorpe Stags Vs Kent Kings (nl) - Sunday, March 30th
TMW replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
I do get the immpression that Danny Ayres can't ride a speedway bike yet, I'm sure he will learn quickly, but has been named in the Stags with Govier covering for him till he learns as you need to at least be able to slide. Not sure of the point of that. You may want to put me straight as I only have press releases to go on. Alec Wright is waiting in the wings at KL but they haven't named him in the 1-7 yet as do Kent seem to have Luke Harris. -
And will it feature on BBC WM ......I do hope so

The injuries were a concern to me to but I was happy to reserve judgement until they have a couple of meetings under their belt. Is there a distortion of what is considered 'NL ready' ? How is this measured ? -

Not sure I'm overly comfortable with the Govier situation. Too much pressure in my humble opnion, but these lads need to take the chances when they come along.

Well if he reads this thread I imagine it would be a miracle if he got back on a bike again What a vile bunch of people. The lad is human after all -
Devon Demons V Kent Kings,nl Ko Cup Sat 15th March

Spoil sport. All the best to the Demons tonight hope the project is a massive success. -
I like to think of it as adding to the product on show but I hppe the Scorpion supporters give them the support. My experience is the Scorpion sipporters leave the stadium after the main event which is sad.
-
Well thank you for thatt balanced view.
-
The press release says he has limited experiencd in the open class but I have mo doubt he will progress quickly but question Do you think that if all 9 teams in the NL had this structure these lads would get enough out of it to progress to PL reserve?
-
What would you do with them then?
-
Thats the million dollar question. Maybe the whole league should be restructured to include 2nd teams only and stand alones should be forced to run in the PL or not run at all. Where is the sense in that? The league can accomodate both agendas it doesn't make either of them right or wrong
-
Well Dudley don't have a track and Mildenhall are on the verge of losing theirs so they could both dissappear so yoi may get your wish. I imagine the hire of Monmore is expensive and they need successful teams to keep the gate money coming in. Surely the 3 pointers need the PL reserves more to give them a marker for PL than the teams that need success otherwise the PL will be far to bigger jump.
-
And once again....not for the stand alone clubs. Scunny has an A team not all have that luxury. All the best to all the Stags hope Jones finds his form this years
-
Ooooo you got a pimple or something? My phone changed it.
-
Doesn't that apply to all teams ? Doesn't absence make the heart grow stronger ?
-
Bit insensitive really while 2 teams have been given notice of possible closure Mildenhall & Coventry and 1 is on death row IOW. Maybe you would like Stoke to follow?
-
No not backtracking at all ever heard of the word ........analogy?
-
I agree with you both in principle. I'm just saying what I would do I'm not saying it should be done. I don't want to name riders as I don't think it's fair but there were some reserves given places last season at reserve in the PL over young British riders who may not have been had they been given a year in the NL. In other words ifMohammed won't come to the mountain but the tide is turning hopefully. If riders aren't going up from the top there is always going to be a section squeezed out.....If I'm honest I'm not the best in expressing myself in the written form so I don't blame you for missing my point
-
Josh Bailey and to be fair Danny Phillips unless he is classed as having ridden a season for Scunthorpe. RTD does have some experience but guesting not declared although that was questionable. I suppose it depends on what you are classing as experienced. All the best with your project and hopefully more will follow. It's to be hoped that PL take the bull by the horns to as I think that is where the problem has lay in the past PL or scrap heap and it is notoriously difficult to get a PL spot without the pressures put on reserves by underperforming foreign 2nd strings but the tide is changing. I would take it a step further and allow a certain number of foreign riders in the NL give the Brits a fair playing field could show a few of the overseas riders in a truer reflection :-)
