Fair comment. The number of Meetings they attend though is a different matter......................................................... There may be somebody who goes to more Meetings than Halifaxtiger - but I don't know of them.

When I was at school - I used to purchase my Cigarettes in Fives. Those were the days. I'm still glad I gave up though.

I was talking to my friend last night - and I just wonder if Speedway is one of those things that has had it's day with the General Public. I sincerely hope that is not the case - but falling Crowds tend to point that way. I don't necessarily think making Speedway cheaper is the right way to go. How about giving the Paying Public a bit more for their money than they get at present. Value for money, for me, is the thing. Sadly too many people in Speedway take their Support(ers) for granted. There's your fifteen Heats - that's it - now go away and come back next week. That after standing, sometimes in the freezing cold, for over two hours. Slicker Presentation with, perhaps, a local Jazz Band, Regiment of Soldiers marching, a Military Band perhaps(maybe too expensive - I don't know). Local youngsters showing off Cycle Speedway etc.. There are lots of things that could be done to keep folk interested. Just a few thoughts anyway - I suppose I will be shot down in flames for talking rubbish.

No problem TG. You are right - the Owen Brothers did dominate that League at that time. The Worralls are still young and could develop in to a very potent force as well.

I genuinely hope that something can be sorted out for him. Well done too for Posting this on here where someone can see it who may be able to offer some help.

I don't. Would it not be possible for the Club to try to arrange a lift for him. I'm not being funny Bryn - but would that not be possible?

Aaaahhh - Thank you for that whka1. So I got the Heat Leader bit right anyway.

I couldn't care less how central (to the Country) it is - I am just delighted that Belle Vue have taken the initiative and have invested in the new Stadium. It took a lot of courage, in these times of austerity, for anyone in Speedway to attempt something like this, especially considering the parlous state of our Sport at present. As Belle Vue is my Team - the new Stadium is the centre of the Country(in the Speedway sense) for me. :)

If you are referring to my previous Post - I don't like being called a liar by a Poster who does not know me. orion has called me a liar two or three times now. I only responded to his somewhat pathetic attempts to read my character on this Forum. That is very true BW - I was. I put up with it as long as I could and then walked away. I give you credit for having more intelligence than the Poster who called me a liar. But I assure you, in all honesty, that the Tactical Ride is what finished me going to the Speedway. You can ask anyone who stood around me at Brough Park, a number whom Post on this Forum. They know the Tactical Ride got to me. They know that is why I don't/won't attend. They know that the Tactical Ride is the sole reason for my none attendance. Sure there are lots of other things I don't like in Speedway - but crucially - none of them have influenced my decision. I have done my best to try to explain all of this to you, as honestly as I can, and possibly to others who don't understand my reasoning. I hope that you will respect that.

Great News for Lewis and his Family. Great News too for all of us Speedway Supporters who only wish for the well being and safety of all Speedway Riders. Keep fighting Lewis - we are all rooting for you and you are in my prayers.

I remember that. I also believe that Senior Service (my smoke of choice until I gave up in 1969) can still be purchased from certain outlets. I'm not sure where though.

'Cardinal' if you don't mind - I've promoted myself. As for some of the comments on this Thread - to be totally honest, I have wasted my time reading them. If this was a kindergarden you would all be put on the naughty step.

You just don't get it do you? The bloody Tactical Ride drove me away from Speedway - is that plain enough for you. I can't spell it out any clearer, I have made it as simple as I can so that, hopefully, even you can understand. I was/am NOT lying to myself - I have stated that I did not like, or agree with the Tactical Substitute but I put up with it. I have also stated that I hate and detest the Tactical Ride which is as close to legal cheating as you can get. I finally got so fed up with it I walked away. So YES orion - the Tactical Ride has cost Speedway at least ONE supporter and probably many more who don't come on this Forum. But go on living in cloud cuckoo land orion - but don't blame me when Speedway Tracks are closing around the Country. You are very good, I notice, at trying to shoot people down but not so clever when it comes to coming up with good positive ideas for the benefit of the Sport.
