  1. Having reread the last few Posts - I apologise - I got that wrong. It just winds me up that people are so determined to have a go at the Newcastle Track. It has been loads better over the last few years. The Track usually supplies some good racing. One thing you cannot control is the Weather. The Brough Park Track has had to take loads of water from storms over the last few weeks - neither the Track Curator, nor the Promotion can be held responsible for that.
  2. Then you are hardly giving an informed opinion are you? You are taking advice from others who may, or may not have an axe to grind.
  3. The only fault I found with the Programme was that it was too short. I could have listened to all of those guys for a lot longer. MOST enjoyable.
  4. Pretty soon we will have every Track in the Country on here. :)
  5. Yes Rob - I agree with you - BUT - will they? Tai is a very marketable commodity for Speedway, and watching 'Five World Champions in a Room' the other night made me realise just how much Tai does, and perhaps, even more importantly, could do for the Sport. He needs the support of those at the top (he may have it) but he can't do it all on his own.
  6. Very true PP. You don't miss it until it's gone. By then it is too late. Suddenly you are 'Forty Years' older and you still miss it.
  7. Not really, but he was a Premier League Rider a few years ago, and a fairly decent one at that.
  8. Sunderland was a very good and fair Track and would be my second favourite behind Hyde Road. Sunderland was not fashionable by any means, but I saw some great races there. It was where it all started for me. The Stadium is still there, there are still very few Houses in the area. If any Promoter was really interested at some stage - who knows? One lives in hope.
  9. Dead easy that one. Hyde Road, Manchester for me - nowhere else compares. :approve:
  10. Too true. You never see kids out playing these days - much to the detriment of their Health. Mind you - they will have the fittest THUMBS ever.
  11. Excellent Post Dave. Apart from your final paragraph. I totally agree with you about Nielsen too. :approve:
  12. It would all come down to COST. If it costs money - it will not happen. Good idea though.
  13. Ouch - a "Parcel of Rogues in a Nation" springs to mind.
  14. Credibility is the problem here. The problem is - Speedway doesn't have any these days.
  15. It was a great shame that the Meeting tonight was marred by so many injuries. In all my years of attending Speedway - I cannot remember THREE Riders being withdrawn from a Meeting. I am sure that had there not been so many injuries the result would have been closer. I saw what I consider the best Race I have seen this Season between Ben Barker and Stuart Robson (and that after Barker was injured) Barker won a thrilling contest. He had two wins from two Rides before he had to withdraw. I am sure he would have recorded a Maximum. I sincerely hope that he, and his colleagues are soon healed and ready to get back to Racing. A great deal of credit is due to the rest of the 'Devils' Team and their Manager - they tried very hard to make a go of it. Last - but not least - a very BIG thank you to our good friends from Plymouth who are a REAL credit to Plymouth Speedway. Personally, as usual, I enjoyed their company hugely - not just that - but I enjoyed a real taste of Devon too in the form of Devon Cream, Scones and Jam. I would like to thank them so much - they certainly livened up a Meeting that was, sadly, not as good for them as it might have been. They did not lose their cheerfulness or their good humour. TRUE Speedway Supporters!! THANK YOU ALL!!!
  16. Sadly there isn't a British League - we are stuck with the Elite League, the Premier League and the National League. Must be three of the biggest misnomers - EVER!! What was so wrong with British League Division One, Two and Three?
  17. Apart from Klindt - I don't disagree with the fact that they are GOOD Riders - they are. But Elite - NEVER.
  18. That may be so - but - apart from the Rider I have higlighted - I don't see any of them being ELITE - do you????? Remember - I saw Klindt at Newcastle last week.
  19. I reckon that will be one of the main reasons for dropping Crowds. Though how something imaginary takes the place of REAL excitement - I really don't know.
