Here's hoping for a good,safe, close Meeting. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can keep those 'Johnny Rebs' in sight - so that we can blow them away on Sunday.

I am not Posting anything about this until the FULL facts are known and the Verdict given to the Court by the Jury.

I don't like Tai's Tattoos or his piercings - his ears make him look like 'Big Ears' out of Noddy. That said - those things are HIS business, NOT ours. The youngsters today seem to be 'in' to that kind of thing. Good luck to them - just not my cup of tea. That said - he IS one hell of a Speedway Rider and THAT is why he is World Champion, nothing to do with the piercings or tattoos. I was prepared not to like Tai because of the way he looked, however, I was wrong. He is a very personable young man who, if he carries on the way he has so far, will be a huge asset to our Sport for years to come hopefully. I certainly hope that he wins the Championship again next year. GOOD LUCK in the future Tai - you deserve it.

I'm a bit surprised at you Mr.M. :sad: I hope Redcar do well this Evening and I also hope Newcastle do well in their efforts in the damned Play Off Competition too. (I don't like the 'Play Offs - in case you didn't know). :mad:

I don't know a lot about the Statistics - BUT - I would take the word of Riders who have smashed in to ALL types of Fences. THEIR experiences are Testing enough for me. If the Riders Approve them - then they should be provided. We NEED to make our Speedway Tracks as SAFE as possible for the Riders. Someone mentioned hitting Fences on the Straight - that can cause bad crashes too, as can those where Riders hit the Track itself. (Ricky Ashworth/Tomasz Gollob). We can only make the Sport as safe as possible - BUT - sadly Accident/Injury will always happen in Speedway because THAT is the nature of the beast - it is a VERY dangerous Sport.

A great shame. Glasgow Speedway has a great History. Let's just hope it can continue.

Blimey gustix - you are older than me. :shock: We have to give Tai a chance - as I said earlier he seems a nice young chap and he will mature with age and experience, as will his charisma.

Whilst I agree with most of your Post - I would argue that there may be some increase in Attendances. Perhaps some of those, to whom televised Speedway has become a way of life, will return to a Track near them to watch their favourite Sport. Perhaps I am wrong - I sincerely hope not. Whether they return in enough numbers to cover the amount of money lost by losing the Television money - I don't know. We must wait and see.

It needn't BE the best line up. It should be for those who have fought their way in to the GP. That is what Sport is about - not giving Riders a place for the fun of it. OF COURSE picking the BEST Riders gives you the best line up - I have never said that it doesn't. I always believed and STILL believe that in Sport you strive to be the very best that you can be by matching yourself against those with, sometimes, superior ability. Now and again, and yes - Woofinden is a case in point here - someone will win against all odds against the Giants of the Sport. My WHOLE argument is that EVERYBODY deserves a chance to upset the odds, not just the selected few. To those who say that the old World Finals had a certain amount of selection about them too - you are correct - BUT - I stick to my position - THAT was not RIGHT either. All I want from Speedway is a level Playing Field for ALL. I DON'T SEE WHAT IS SO VERY WRONG ABOUT THAT - AND NEVER WILL!!! You are right Niamh - I don't. Places in the GP should be earned NOT given on grounds of good business, nationality, BSI Favourites or for any other reason than that they have EARNED their right to be there. If I had my way - at the end on one GP year the World Champion would be proclaimed - that would be the end of it. The following Season ALL Riders would start from scratch INCLUDING THE TOP EIGHT!! THEN WE COULD TRULY CALL SPEEDWAY A SPORT!!!

I think he did very well in his interviews considering his age and experience. His Mum, Girl Friend and his Dad too, if he was looking down on him, should be extremely PROUD of him.

The problem with Talk Sport is that the Presenters are there purely to 'wind up' the Listeners. They make outrageous statements which get up people's nose and that is what makes them ring in. Obviously, by having a go at Speedway they were hoping to get Speedway Supporters to ring them up and try to put the record straight. That is their BUSINESS, their raison d'etre if you like. I don't believe for one minute that the Presenters BELIEVE in what they say, that it is their TRUE opinion. If they said what they REALLY thought - there would be no Show. Winding folk up is their BUISNESS!!!
