Why Can't All Speedway Be Like This
The White Knight replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It seemed a bit 'OFF' to me. -
I am very sorry Gorka - but I don't have any Photos.

I have spoken to a number of ex Speedway Supporters who have left because of Double Points - I have spoken to none who have left because of the Joker and Helmet Covers and I have spoken to LOADS of people who think that the Play Off System is VERY unfair. Now I have been as honest as I can with you orion. Believe me when I say that there ARE people who have left because of Double Points, and not just a few, I KNOW this to be true. You may not like it - but - I do NOT lie. Just noticed your comment about "this bloke at Newcastle" - well NO - I'm sorry to disappoint you but the folk I spoke to were from all over the place on my travels - but NOT at Newcastle. The good folk I stand beside at Newcastle DO dislike the Play Offs though, they also detest the Double Points Rule too.

Rye House V Redcar 28/9/13
The White Knight replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Perhaps not yourself LL - but a significant number of Leicester Supporter were on here shouting the odds. -
And therein lies the problem. Speedway has bent over backwards to accommodate SKY. In a very real sense Speedway has prostituted itself to make itself acceptable to SKY - Play Offs, Double Points, Jokers and yes, even Helmet Covers etc. Now SKY will just walk away leaving Speedway in the lurch and minus a lot of Supporters who gave up because of the aforementioned sops to the Television Company. It certainly proves that, whilst Speedway has been pretty good for SKY - I'm not sure that SKY has brought ANY long term benefits to Speedway.

BRING BACK RIDER CONTROL!!! -
Cardiff????

PRECISELY!!! That revenue stream has dried up good and proper now, with the SGP System. If SKY money goes down the drain too - we will find out who has been over ambitious with their spending over the years. Sadly - I think the majority of Clubs to be in difficulty will be those in the Elite League. (I am NOT having a go at the Elite League - I am just stating a fact).

Felt very sorry for the Ipswich Supporters tonight. I was looking forward to a good Meeting and moaning as usual that Ippo had two Double Points Rides to make the Thirteen Point recovery very difficult for us and then both Lanham and then Barker (who is excellent around the Brough Park Track) were lost through unfortunate injuries. The Ipswich Team were then effectively down to four Riders as they were already using R/R because of injury to Tungate at Workington. The remaining Riders tried their best to compete but in one Race could only Track one Rider. I am really glad that we won the Cup but the Meeting totally lost it's edge after the injuries. Newcastle though could only ride their best against whoever was put out against them and they did so with great efficiency. To sum up - GREAT to pick up some Silverware - sad that it came about in the way it did. (Not Newcastle's fault though - no Newcastle Riders were involved in the accidents). I would like to wish a speedy recovery to both Leigh Lanham and Ben Barker.
