How Many Definately Starters Next Year
The White Knight replied to bruno's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes - I can actually see where some might say, he doesn't attend so what has any of this to do with him.. However, as a prospective and concerned Customer/Supporter - who would definitely return to the Sport - if Double Points was dropped, I am entitled to my views. You do not have to agree with me, that is your prerogative, but I have my views and will express them. -
Spellchecker For The Forum?
The White Knight replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Thank you very much for that HenryW. I will wait until my son comes home and give it a go. That's because if I muck it up he can, hopefully, put things right. Again - many thanks. :approve: -
You only have to look at the Sunderland Echo to see that. Printed in LEEDS for goodness sake - an Evening Newspaper that comes out in the - - MORNING.

How Many Definately Starters Next Year
The White Knight replied to bruno's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Don't say that. The Promoters will wreck the Championship if they do that. That may not bother you - but it would certainly bother Championship Supporters who are, by and large, fed up with the Premiership/Elite being kept going at our expense. I doubt the National League would be that happy either. Remember, Speedway, is as much as anything, about Supporters as well as Riders and Promoters and I believe it is a two way thing. Without the Riders and Promoters Speedway would not exist - but also without Supporters it would, in all probability, not exist either. What I am saying is that Supporters, (those who pay for the Sport) need to be considered too. -
I am wondering if there is a way to get Spellchecker on the Forum whilst using Firefox as my Browser? As a sad 'old git' who is losing his memory regarding such things it would be a great help. If anyone does know, I would be obliged if you could tell me how to apply it in a simple step by step Guide. I am a total Computer numpty. Thanking you in anticipation.

How Many Of Us Have Not Lost Interest?
The White Knight replied to False dawn's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I haven't lost interest. If I had, I would not waste my time on this Forum. I have totally lost faith in the way the Sport is run though - and that plus Double Points is my problem. Four Riders on the Track = GREAT!!! Rules (some of them), the way the Sport is run = CRAP!!! Sorry but that is my honest feelings. -

No Aussies In British Speedway 2018
The White Knight replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have to admit that I agree with you Sid. That said the Holders of this world are, to me anyway, more of a nuisance than they are worth. I used them as an example of mostly good behaviour by Aussies. There are certain Aussie Riders around today that have sullied the reputation built up by those retired Riders. So, in that sense, my comparisons were valid. -

I didn't deliberately leave him or anyone else out speedibee - I just tried to pick one Rider from each period of time. -
No Aussies In British Speedway 2018
The White Knight replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Could yes - but they may not be able to do so. Would they get Work Permits/Visas like they do here? Also - see speedibee's Post below - which going to be another of my points. See above........... The likes of Leigh Adams, Phil Crump, Jim Airey were great assets to Speedway in this Country as is Josh Grajczonek from today's Riders. Sadly some of the current crop aren't fit to lace their boots. (I have deliberately selected a Rider from different eras to illustrate my point). Most of the Aussies are OK in my book - but we would certainly be better off without some of them. -

No it doesn't - I lost my Track 43 years ago but I still enjoy watching it on the Television. -

The White Knight replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
True - but not the ready made models that we can, and do, provide. -
This is bad News. I really hope they don't wreck the place. Where are the Police?

How Many Of Us Are Losing Interest.?
The White Knight replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I no longer attend Speedway as a lone protest about a single issue (Double Points). I don't like all of this Double Up/Double Down either. That said, I have not lost my interest in Speedway - I just want it to be the very best it can be. I keep myself more or less up to date with what is going on in the Sport, and it grieves me very much to see the state that British Speedway is now in. There are so many things that seem to encourage people not to attend. There is the lack of Fixtures during the Summer, warm nights, and a glut of Fixtures towards the end of the Season (cold nights). Given the age of the majority of Supporters these days - the cold nights are not encouraging. Why then, can't these Fixtures be balanced out over the Season? Lack of consistency as far as Meetings goes is detrimental to continuing Support. It is very easy to find something else to do if your Team isn't riding. When I first started attending back in 1964, Speedway was a weekly Sport. I used to look forward from one week to the next to my Speedway Meeting. Nowadays the weekly involvement doesn't happen at some Tracks, probably most Tracks. I also am not happy at the way the Top League, when anything goes wrong, automatically starts changing things in the lower Leagues. That is discouraging for Supporters of those lower League Clubs also, and may well put some people off attending altogether. I confess that I don't know what the answer is but Speedway simply has to get it's act together if it is to survive as a National, Professional Sport. I look forward to the day when Double Points is no more and I can return to watching Speedway - but it should be on a weekly basis. -
At the very least I see this as a hopeful statement. Keeping my fingers crossed for all Coventry Speedway Supporters.

No Aussies In British Speedway 2018
The White Knight replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Perhaps the Poles, Swedes and Danes didn't want the Aussies in their raw state, and were happy for them to use British Speedway to bring them up to speed. -
Very well put if I may say so Fd.

Time To Scrap Doubling Up?
The White Knight replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I know exactly what will happen - and have said so on a number of occasions. The Public aren't daft - they will see through it - and even more of Speedway's credibilty will sadly, go down the toilet. -
That is certainly the way it seems to me. I have thought this for a number of years now. The problem is that the Premier League see the Championship as an inferior League. It may be so in quality of Rider - but it certainly is not in the form of excitement provided to it's Supporters. That is, until, once again the Premier League is short of Teams, Riders etc.. they just come along and proceed to wreck the Championship League. To me, that is all wrong. If Sheffield and Ipswich do go up next year, has anybody asked what effect that will have on the Championship, of course they haven't - they couldn't care less. They will make up the numbers with a couple of National League Teams who, in all probability, will be unable to afford it. This will result in them getting hammered most weeks, Support will fall and those Clubs could/will fail and close down. But - the Premiership must be maintained at all and every cost.

I'm beginning to think that even Sherlock Holmes couldn't find that out.
