  1. When I went to Speedway, I wanted to see MY Team, MY Riders who I could identify with. I liked feeling part of the whole Team thing. Since that has, more or less, all gone from the Sport, what is left is a mere shadow of what Speedway used to be. What the Promoters fail to grasp is that half of the pleasure of going to the Speedway was talking with your Riders, socialising with your Riders and you would follow your Team away, recognise Riders who would, if they saw you, give you a wave. Nowadays when Riders come out on to the Track a lot (probably most) don't even look at the Crowd who have paid to come and see them, they just trudge towards their Bikes. That is the way I see it anyway.
  2. I very much sympathise with that viewpoint.
  3. There we have it. I still would very much like to know what happens if one Team doesn't want to go down and the other one doesn't want to go up? Not beyond the bounds of possibility. Do they just hold the Meeting, take the money from the Supporters and then - at the A.G.M. decide perhaps we had better leave things as they are? We don't want to force anybody to go up or to go down. What would the Promotion/Relegation Meeting mean then? A total waste of time and Supporters paying for something that doesn't happen. I'm only asking the question here. Any answers? As I said earlier - interesting times ahead.
  4. Sadly, by the sound of things, this new Stadium is looking more and more dodgy by the day. However we must have faith.
  5. In a Utopian World you would be right - but - sadly this is not Utopia....................
  6. To be honest - I can't wait to see what will happen at the end of this Season. Will a Team go up? Will a Team go down? Will a Team stay where they are? Will a Team lose on purpose? Will both Teams want to win? Will both Teams want to lose? Who will ride for who? Who will Guest for who? Will Team 'A' be a Team or just a collection of riders? Will Team 'B' be a Team or just a collection of riders? You have to laugh - don't you? Plenty of questions here. I look forward to them being answered in the fullness of time. Interesting times ahead.
  7. People can express their opinions SCB. But without credibility the Sport isn't worth a damn. The sooner the people who run Speedway realise that the better.
  8. Straight to the heart of the matter as usual Gemini. Well said.
  9. If you read the Thread from the start there are quite few opinions, on that very subject, on here already PolybiusAL. Not being funny - hope this helps. Interesting name Polybius. A Greek Historian - I think.
  10. Everyone should be - for without it you will never bring the old Supporters back, never mind attracting any new ones. Never a truer word spoken tigerowl.
  11. Great Rider, Great Team Man who showed great loyalty to Kings Lynn. A Rider who I very much admired when he was in his pomp. Which looks like all the time he rode looking at those figures.
  12. If there is any proof of anything untoward going on, surely someone should get the Police involved. Fraud, Theft etc.. are being implied here. I, for one, had no idea that this sort of thing could possibly happen in Speedway. I suppose I am naive about such matters sadly.
  13. My nearest National LeagueTrack to Sunderland is Belle Vue. Far too far for me to consider going these days. I watch it on the Television though - and yes I still get angry at the Double Points rides - but at least I can do that at home on my own, and do not make a fool of myself at my local Track. Apart from that - I was speaking metaphorically.
  14. GREAT STUFF Dave. You do a brilliant job. How is Archie doing these days?
  15. I certainly hope that the Riders you mention do well. I would love to see some develop in to Riders of the calibre of PC, Chris Morton, Simmo, Lee or Jessup. Only time will tell.
  16. I'm still laughing - thanks for that The Dean Machine. A terrific analogy. :approve:
  17. I must be more careful in my phraseology in future.
  18. I only stated probably Averages would cost Riders places. As I said - I was talking generally, however even if it is only one Rider, that, at least proves my point.
  19. I wasn't looking for an argument. You asked for my reasoning - I gave it to you. I was talking in general, not specifically. Averages can and do prevent people riding - that is undeniable.
  20. Very true - but what if said Average does not fit in to any Team - you are on the shelf. That is what I was getting at. The Averages for Team building is, by definition, restrictive. You build your Team to an Average Total by fitting people in. Those who don't fit are out of a job.
  21. Keeping my fingers crossed for Cook. Not sure how well he would do in the GP Series - I would like him to get the chance to find out.
