  1. iris - I had forgotten about him. I think he was very good at Ice Racing too if my memory? serves me well.
  2. Igor Plechanov - probably the best ever Rider not to have ridden in the British League.. Rune Holta Grigori Khlinovsky Victor Trofimov Valery Gordeev Honourable mention Aleksandr Pavlov. Edit: Must stop repeating myself.
  3. For me the best Speedway Programme I have ever seen is the Newcastle Magazine. I say Magazine because it is far more than just a Programme. If I was forced to criticise it in any way - it wouldn't fit my Programme Board. I could live with that though - because there was always great reading in the content. I haven't been to Newcastle for a couple of years now - I do hope they have kept up the quality and content.. 10/10 for me.
  4. Sadly that is very true. We need to look after BT - there isn't anyone else - at least I don't think there is?
  5. Barry Simpson is excellent at Redcar and has done a British Grand Prix too.
  6. To answer your question posed in the Thread Title directly. ME!!!
  7. A Topic is already running on this sad News.
  8. It must have been bad if you can't reproduce it on here for our delectation.
  9. Actually I can remember reading his Meeting Reports in Speedway Star back in the day.
  10. I watched the Poole v. 'Aces' Meeting too. I totally agree with you about the Track - it looked dreadful - the Riders were bouncing around all over the place. Rough as hell. GREAT Result though. :approve:
  11. Eric Linden for me. He was always worth reading.
  12. I know it is difficult to compare eras - but I would have thought that Mauger would have made your list ahead of Jack Milne.
  13. True Sidney - but the calibre of his opposition has also to be considered in winning those Titles? Were all of the Americans racing in Europe involved in the Championships Bast won - I don't know. But if they weren't, it would surely make his achievement of seven Titles a bit suspect when it comes to being a truly great Rider. Don't you agree?
  14. I know you didn't mean it in an insulting way though Dandelion. I just didn't realise how long ago 'Allo, 'allo was broadcast.
  15. But he did come over here to try to match the achievements of Autrey and the other Americans, he couldn't do it and went back to the USA with his tail between his legs, as I remember. That is why I say that he was a good Rider in his own back yard and conditions. The other Americans proved themselves on the Speedway Tracks of the whole World - not just a little corner of it. I think the Reporter/Photographer Scott Daloisio either hasn't watched Speedway at that time in Europe or, he is ignorant of just how very good Autrey and those other Americans over here were. Whichever way you look at it, as far as I am concerned, he is quite simply wrong.
  16. There you go bbs. http://www.speedwaypairs.com/en/news/n/164/
  17. Now THAT is a valid reason. That I can understand.
  18. For what it's worth - I think Fricke has more potential and talent than both Kurtz and Holder. Only time will tell of course. I could be wrong - but I don't think so.
  19. Many apologies Dandelion. I keep forgetting - the years fly by.
