  1. A Topic is already running on this sad News.
  2. It must have been bad if you can't reproduce it on here for our delectation.
  3. Actually I can remember reading his Meeting Reports in Speedway Star back in the day.
  4. I watched the Poole v. 'Aces' Meeting too. I totally agree with you about the Track - it looked dreadful - the Riders were bouncing around all over the place. Rough as hell. GREAT Result though. :approve:
  5. Eric Linden for me. He was always worth reading.
  6. I know it is difficult to compare eras - but I would have thought that Mauger would have made your list ahead of Jack Milne.
  7. True Sidney - but the calibre of his opposition has also to be considered in winning those Titles? Were all of the Americans racing in Europe involved in the Championships Bast won - I don't know. But if they weren't, it would surely make his achievement of seven Titles a bit suspect when it comes to being a truly great Rider. Don't you agree?
  8. I know you didn't mean it in an insulting way though Dandelion. I just didn't realise how long ago 'Allo, 'allo was broadcast.
  9. But he did come over here to try to match the achievements of Autrey and the other Americans, he couldn't do it and went back to the USA with his tail between his legs, as I remember. That is why I say that he was a good Rider in his own back yard and conditions. The other Americans proved themselves on the Speedway Tracks of the whole World - not just a little corner of it. I think the Reporter/Photographer Scott Daloisio either hasn't watched Speedway at that time in Europe or, he is ignorant of just how very good Autrey and those other Americans over here were. Whichever way you look at it, as far as I am concerned, he is quite simply wrong.
  10. There you go bbs. http://www.speedwaypairs.com/en/news/n/164/
  11. Now THAT is a valid reason. That I can understand.
  12. For what it's worth - I think Fricke has more potential and talent than both Kurtz and Holder. Only time will tell of course. I could be wrong - but I don't think so.
  13. Many apologies Dandelion. I keep forgetting - the years fly by.
  14. Most appropriate for the Irish Speedway Rider's Thread.
  15. The Television Programme. 'allo, 'allo. René was the Bar Owner. https://www.marktv.org/aa/characters.html Have a look at the caption under Yvette Carte-Blanche.
  16. Ooops!! You are right - I had forgotten Ove. Ove Fundin in for Rickardsson. Add Tony to the honourable mentions.
  17. Not a prayer to even win one World Title, in my opinion. Perhaps at Costa Mesa - but I wouldn't be certain about that either.
  18. I. Mauger, B. Briggs, T. Rickardsson, E. Gundersen, P. Craven. Honourable mentions - P. Collins, H. Neilsen.
