  1. Crikey!!! You lost me there. What lies would those be then? I may have made a mistake but, I do not deliberately lie. Too many people on here are far too quick to call people liars.
  2. If I knew the answer to that - I would be the greatest Speedway Promoter ever. I'm afraid I don't - so I'm not.
  3. So would I if I had seen it. Being a bit of a pessimist - I would have assumed that there was something wrong with my Computer. Panic would have set in. :D
  4. Part of the reason Speedway will go down the pan. Who can forget the days of Jack Millen storming up to the Referee's Box to 'politely' query a decision on occasions. The same Jack Millen who kicked some lights at Peterborough, I think it was? He needed a Police escort from the Stadium. Ron Wilson at Teesside loved Jack Millen - he always reckoned that Jack could add 500 on to the Gate at Cleveland Park. Why? Because he was a CHARACTER, an ENTERTAINER - probably would not be allowed to race nowadays. People wonder why Gates are down, at least part of the reason is there are no Characters/Entertainers/Villains to attract them. All very sad.
  5. I second that. Well done Matt.
  6. My absence is a protest against Double Points. I still love my Speedway though. One Meeting in three years or more and that was this Season. I only went to see a Sunderland 'Stars' Team riding at Redcar. I had to go, just to see the Sunderland Racejackets back on Track again. Many thanks to Kevin Keay (Promoter) for putting it on.
  7. Yaaaay!!! The Kangaroo is back. Cheers Dandelion.
  8. The Supporters paid to watch Riders race - not tootling around. I would have preferred to see him at least give the impression of racing - at least that would have not brought the Sport in to disrepute. More honest, he may have been - not necessarily though - he could also have done it to say 'look at me' - thus detracting from the racing efforts by his compatriots.. Stupid he certainly was - treating the Supporters as mugs. From the way he finished with the Sport - I think we know all we need to know about Mr. Penhall.
  9. You could always buy a Book.....................................
  10. Yeah!! You are probably right. That is one way of curbing criticism.
  11. You may or may not be right. I don't think that you are. My point was that this particular argument has been flogged to death. Dragging it up again will, in all probability, just cause more trouble on this Thread. That said - you have every right to your opinion.
  12. Ivan Mauger Barry Briggs Peter Collins Ole Olsen Anders Michanek Nicki Pedersen Gary Havelock Jason Crump Michael Lee That is all I can think of at present.
  13. Crikey!! You are right Rob. It is a hell of a lot of money. Who gets the £1,000 by the way?
  14. They can and do at Football - I hope I never hear of it at British Speedway.
  15. Pity that Skid. It would have been interesting - never mind though - you did well to get the Attendance Poll under way.
  16. I think this has been done to death quite frankly. Or - are you just trying to cause trouble?
  17. I thought Soren was brilliant, I didn't see too much of Christer.
  18. Never mind Characters among the Promotion Staff. Where have all the characters gone amongst the Riders?
  19. Hey - Dandelion - where's your kangaroo gone? I liked that Avatar. If I may be so bold - I'm not keen on the new one. :nono:
  20. R.I.P. + Bryan Seery. A wonderful source of information in his days as Statistician on Speedway Star. They were the 'go to' Statistics for, it seemed to me, all Speedway Supporters of that era. He certainly gave me a lot of pleasure. As Lucifer Sam says, the first page to look at was the 'Stats' to see how our Riders, and others, were getting on. I don't know if he was ever wrong, but when I followed such things closely, I never spotted anything amiss. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
  21. No characters like him in the Sport these days. In fact no characters at all I sometimes think. Certainly nowhere near as many.
  22. I have to agree iris123. Both very entertaining Riders - they have burned brightly in the Speedway firmament and should be recognized as having done so. Lots of people go to see the Riders we love to hate.
