Fans Faves And Not So Faves!
The White Knight replied to keef robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Graeme Smith former Sunderland, Canterbury and Reading Rider is very easy to talk to these days as is Dai Evans formerly Crewe and Peter Wrathall former Cradley, Long Eaton and Sunderland. George Barclay is another. -
How many other British GP Riders are there?
-
You could try looking at his Birth Certificate speedibee. That proves he is British - he was born here. As Gavan says - he was brought up in Australia so it is only natural that he would have an affection for the place and the people.

It is GREAT to have a British World Champion. If Tai feels he has to ditch British Speedway in order to further his ambitions of being World Champion the so be it. It is STILL great to have a British World Champion. Naturally it saddens me that he has left but if British Speedway had been on the same level of Poland or Sweden, both from a financial point of view and also from a competative point of view too - he might have stayed. If you are going to blame anyone blame British Speedway for the plight it is in. THAT is not Tai's fault.

Rising Crowds This Season?
The White Knight replied to RPNY's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I 'Liked' your Post because I agree with nearly all of it. At least your suggestion would make it fairer. How would it work though? Would you still need to be a certain number of Points behind in order to use it? If you were in front - would you still be able to use it - if so - when? Or could both Team Managers use it at a time to suit themselves? I still believe that the best thing would be to scrap theTactical Ride (and Tactical Substitutes) altogether though. -
That made me laugh.

Great Post tigerowl. Especially your last sentence. -
There are many at Great Ormond Street Hospital who are extremely grateful to Tai for all of his efforts. I notice you don't mention any of the good things he does. I don't think it is him who is full of sh*t - but crucially - it could be YOU!!!
-
Nothing - he's a ficticious Politician who is Leader of the Tooting Popular Front Party. "POWER TO THE PEOPLE"!!!! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075492/

I don't think so. :nono: :nono:

Perhaps we could sign Chris Holder when his average gets low enough. :D

Very loosely.

I can only hope and pray that he can make a full recovery from these very serious injuries. -

What HT - better than Belle Vue? Contrived by Double Points no doubt. -
Sunderland is now a City, it became one in 1992. We have no Cathedral but we do have a Minster.
-
You have to ask yourself - would you in his position? Your "next to nowt" comment says it all really.
-
Have you ever considered orion - that Tai could indeed do a better job than some of those running the show at the moment. Please note - I said some - not all. Personally - I think that there is a fair chance that he could. I know you did like PC gustix - I was well aware of whom I was addressing with my Reply.
-
I doubt Peter Craven would like you very much either.

Why are there TWO Threads running on this subject? Could I suggest that the Threads be merged by the Mods please?

Probably because Poole don't look like winning the League at the moment. I am sure the Gates will improve when you have a winning Team to support. Holder at reserve would be good. Some of us would just like a Team to support - never mind a winning one as I know from my time at Sunderland in the Sixties and Seventies. -
Very well said Martin - particularly about William Wilberforce. Surely that deserves to be celebrated and not shoved in a corner as if it never happened. It's a bit like us here in Sunderland bidding to be City of Culture in 2021. They (the Council) have just closed some more of our Public Libraries down and moved our main Library in to a couple of rooms in the Sunderland Museum (Foundation Stone laid by U.S. President/General Ulysses S. Grant). Libraries are not just Cultural - they are Educational too. Sunderland - City of Culture - my a*se.
