  1. I reckon holding your breath just might be a very bad idea.
  2. I strongly suspect, these days, that those corporate sponsors you talk about are far more important than the likes of you and me - even if they don't turn up. The Olympics is for the sponsors - not joe public.
  3. The White Knight (where have I heard that before?) - Graeme Smith. Always liked his leathers.
  4. Me too as I stated earlier. I think that some of the empty seats, at least, will be down to people with our point of view.
  5. Very well put. I look forward to seeing Tai wearing Great Britain colours for many years to come.
  6. 'Have' to be promoted is not possible without a root and branch change to Speedway as we know it. Currently all Tracks are individual Businesses that come together under the BSPA. Most Premier League Tracks could not afford to go Elite League - you would be forcing certain Tracks to commit financial suicide. A more sensible way to go, would be to merge the Leagues (Premier and Elite) in to one big League and reorganise the Riders around all of the Tracks. Will it happen? I doubt it. but clearly speedway is in trouble and something drastic needs to be done to buck the trend and thereby attract new fans (and riders) to the sport. There lies the crux. Anybody have a magic wand? Speedway was not in such a perilous state then when all of those things were applicable, plus Individual Meetings. One could say that since the so called progress has taken place in Speedway that the Attendances have gone down commensurately. I don't think that anyone could argue that Speedway's situation has improved overall with this so called modernization. It patently obviously hasn't - to me, it has been spoiled by said modernization. You may scoff at us 'oldies' orion - but - has anyone considered that we might just have a point? Remember, we oldies have to watch our beloved Sport going down the pan mainly due to poor Promotion, the GPs and the abandonment of our Sport's great traditions and systems.
  7. I wasn't really being serious. I was merely trying to point how useless League Matches are these days. They are just qualifying rounds for a different Competition - the 'Play Offs'.
  8. I've got a good idea. Scrap the names Elite League, Premier League and National League and rename them as Qualifying Rounds Division One, Two and Three for the National Trophy in each Division. Because that is what it is nowadays.
  9. Have I missed something. Who? I agree with your second sentence too. Totally unacceptable.
  10. I can take abuse on here, have done many a time...................... I will heed your words though.
  11. I don't think so. But you may be right - I always thought trolling was following someone in a nasty way. BW and I have a long history over this particular issue. I was just having a bit of fun - hence the Smilies. Perhaps having a sense of humour is not acceptable on here. Note to self: Do not have fun - it is trolling.
  12. I cast the bait and you bit - as I knew you would. See Smilies.
  13. It would look so much more professional. On a freezing cold night in March/April/sometimes May it can be very uncomfortable to stand around stamping your feet trying to keep warm. (We've all done it). I know that essential Track Grading has to take place but that does not alter the fact that there are far too many long unnecessary gaps between Races. Regarding your final sentence - I am against any form Tactical Ride/Tactical Substitute. Both are unfair - and as we saw in the most recent World Cup, can severely affect the Result. The difference of Great Britain getting a Silver Medal having used the 'Joker' and Sweden unable to do so. If everything had been equal - Great Britain should have had the Bronze Medal and Sweden the Silver. Now THAT would have been FAIR.
  14. Now THAT is very obvious. You ask a question multiple times - you get the same answer multiple times. I have no doubt that you will ask me again further down the line............................... Tell me - just how dumb is that?
  15. Oh for goodness sake give it a rest man. You must be really bright if, as you admit, I have answered the question before. Was asking it again just to reinforce your ego? .....................or - are you as dumb as your question?
  16. I may not like it - but I suppose I would have to live with it. Why are you asking the same question again - I am sure I have answered it a number of times before. Preferably they would change it to absolutely no way of contriving to keep Meetings closer, and the Meeting would be decided by the Points scored on the Track. Surely that is the fairest way - and probably the cheapest too.
  17. I'm afraid you are totally wrong in my case E I Addio. Get rid of the 'Double Points' Rule and I would return tomorrow. I understand that Mr. Chapman is not keen on the Tactical Ride so I am calling on him to scrap it - do that and to Quote Arnold Schwarzenegger - "I'll be back".
