  1. Sorry if this is jumping the gun, but will anyone be posting a link for a GP Race card for Lonigo? Have converted some friends to speedway, they were chuffed to be able to fill in a race card for the EL match on Monday, would like to do the same for the Italian GP if possible. Although we don't have any speedway tracks in Northern Ireland, these friends are moving to England in the very near future and are hooked on speedway. Their nearest track will be Sheffield..sorry EL, but they get to see some PL racing when they move over.
  2. Just been and watched that crash... He is one lucky boy, if he has got away without being seriously injured. That was on awful accident. Hope that both riders will be ok.
  3. Hi to Lawrence... I replied to your wonderful PM, that you sent the other evening... Thank You for that. I'm hooked on this Polish racing now... can't wait for the meeting thats due to be shown on Monday, thanks for letting me know Lawrence.. your a star. As for the edible flowers idea.... wondered why Jarek looked like he was putting on weight...
  4. Having spent several hours trawling through the entire 29 pages of this thread.... I'm now completely converted to Polish Speedway. Thanks to Lawrence for the top class coverage...hope you do get something sorted for next season, so you can continue to show the ELige. Have been watching some of the archived meetings.... what on earth have I been watching all these years over here. It won't sound good, but I am actually contemplating cancelling my Sky Sports subscription..why pay all that money for the dross we are served up each week, when I can watch top drawer racing from Poland each week instead. Maybe if Sky were to show a Polish meeting maybe twice a month, so those of us that do enjoy the racing can do so, plus the BEL people still get their fix as well, they'd not lose viewers, because lets face it, they must be losing viewers with the cack we have for racing here. Certainly agree, that the BEL/BSPA could learn a lot from the Polish Authorities, re track prep, team building...the works by the looks of things. Love the way the teams are constructed, the race formats work well, with the U21's in Heat one and so on... come on BSPA... wake up for heavens sake.
  5. First of all, Thanks to Steve for the update on young George....great to hear he is still hungry to race again. Also, the video link for the Cardiff U15's..... Hey Jeff, where were the Wobblers you so arrogantly accused them of being.... because I certainly didn't see any there... or were you at Cardiff City's ground by mistake... they certainly know all about wobblers...having thrown so many over the years. At the end of the day Jeff, you show yourself for what you are, a completely unknowledgeable person regarding speedway, both watching AND riding. All I saw there were eight very committed young riders, obviously enjoying the experience...oh there's that word..EXPERIENCE.... because that is what it is about for those kids. Gaining valuable experience from being there at Cardiff, soaking up the atmosphere, mixing with the GP riders of today, racing in a top class stadium in front of many 1000's of fans, learning things from the established GP stars... in a nutshell, Learning and gaining experience. Had the chance been available when I started out... back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth according to my Mrs... I would have bitten hands, arms, legs and anything else off to get a ride at an event like that. You show complete contempt and disrespct to the youngsters racing AND their families, who spend umpteen thousands of pounds in the hope that their kid makes it to the very top. As for your, "Its against MY rules" comment, how concieted and arrogant is that.....!!!!!! For what its worth Cardiff GP Kids... you did yourselves and British speedway proud that evening, I for one sincerely hope you all have long and successful speedway careers....ignore the eedgits, as we call them over here, as they obviously don't know any better. Comments on tha actual racing.... great stuff, full on, fully committed and no sign of any WOBBLERS. The lad who won heat one, you'd have thought he had won the GP such was the obvious joy and elation he was showing.... that made my day to see that. Likewise young Rhys in the 250's... now that lad, properly guided will go far, I didn't realise that 250's were that fast, full broadsides on the bends, under complete control and all were going for it big time. Special mention for Scott Meakens... don't give up young man... you may have fallen, but you had the presence of mind to get up quickly and get on with it... credit to you for that. Simple solution Jeff... If you don't like it, don't go and watch... I'm sure that BSI and the Cardiff GP will survive without you... and don't even bother to come back with all the usual drivel about forum rules etc etc... I have never had a warning, due in the main to never having had to respond to a numpty before... but I'll gladly take one for this if its given... well worth it in my view. Final word.... Good Luck to all the youngsters, trying to get somewhere in our wonderful sport. Keep going at it, never give up and listen when sound advice is given by the pro riders... its worth its weight in gold, believe me.
  6. I would add my weight to that, bring back the Golden Helmet, as it used to be. Best of 3 home and away, with any decider on a neutral track.... I can still picture John Louis, who was a bit of a specialist in the Golden Helmet, when he smashed the track record at Foxhall, whilst beating Dave Jessup.... I'd kill to see that kind of thing again.... And people ridicule the old days... they don't know what they missed.
  7. I must be ill..... I agree with Steve Shovlar, lets get behind OUR Country, Team GB. Sorry, I have pride in my nationality, I'm British through and through, supporting another country, no matter who, is like committing treason for me. Ok, so we're not good enough, or weren't on Monday, but as speedway has shown time and again, its a fickle sport and can kick you in the gonnads at anytime.... you listening Denmark...Australia et al. Regardless of finishing postion on Thursday evening, I will still support Great Britain, its my country of birth, win lose or draw at least we're in it and having a go. I may not like losing, but if thats the case, so be it. Although I have this strange feeling that we may just qualify. Go Get 'Em Boys......
  8. Thought I would wait and see what transpired on track this evening, before voicing an opinion on the team. Nicholls needs a swift kick up the rear end, he doesn't have a God given right to be in the team, let alone captain it. Stead was woeful, end of, this should signal the end of his Team GB career. Harris tried, felt for him to be honest, lots of effort with little gain. Richardson, gating deserted him tonight, never looked like passing wind, let alone another rider. Allen workd hard for his points, about what I expected to be honest. At the end of the day, we have reached the bottom of the Team GB barrel, we're just not good enough. Given that we have Ty and a couple of other youngsters on the way through, maybe 3 or 4 years down the line, we might, and I mean might, challenge again, but certainly not now. Shame the squad is set for Vojens, maybe giving the kids a chance wouldn't be such a bad idea, at least we would get 110% effort from them. Who knows, maybe Ty and Eddie will give the old guard the impetous to do something on Thursday, then again.......!! At the end of the day, we could blame the slick track, but as is always pointed out, it's the same for everyone out there, just the other sides adapted quicker than we did. We're not good enough, end of.
  9. Have to echo the praise for Georgie on here, did extremely well. This is how the sport should be presented to the public on Sky Sports, professionally and with grace, unlike Greeny's school boy attempts. I thought the whole presentation package was superb for both the race off and the Final, with the 'Studio' and the roving reporter in the pits. Everyone came out of that with a heck of a lot of credit.... Well Done.
  10. On a lighter note..... Yes we had Millard spouting his usual drivel... but was it just my TV..or did Lord Kelvins Mic go on the blink there....couldn't hear him for the last part of the meeting, or when I could, it was very very low.... perhaps Sky has seen the posts on here, or maybe a Sky technician has at last found the OFF switch.. either way, it certainly made the meeting more bearable for me.... Now where's Millards OFF switch as well....
  11. Sorry Mr Olsen... You just wrecked any form of credibilty you MAY have had... That track was a disgrace to the sport of speedway. Thats was a complete Bore fest from start to finish.... I to nearly switched channels halfway through, which, if anyone knows me, means that had to be bad... No racing lines at all, even the inside wasn't up to much... Maybe Schlein had the right idea...go grass tracking instead...at least there was some drive there. If Coventry is allowed to be prepared like tonights track, I'll be giving the rest of the WTC a miss I am afraid, so Sky can go show their annoying(at best) Mondeo advert to the monkies.... An extremely annoyed and dissapointed TC....
  12. Having finally been able to watch the entire GP, Thanks to Witches Forever, I have to agree. Superb advert for speedway in general, close exciting racing, with the perfect outcome, a British Winner. I was saying to someone the other night, that has to rank as one of the all time best meetings I have ever seen. Well Done to ALL that made Cardiff possible, YES, even BSi, or whatever they're called now.
  13. Whatever the team, I'll support my country..... C'Mon Team GB. Why don't some of those knocking the team get behind the boys instead of doing them down all the time.
  14. My Thanks to Witches Forever and Feline Fine.... Both offered to do me a copy, Witches Forever is doing one now for me. So Thankyou heaps to you both for coming to the rescue... now let me see anyone say speedway fans are anything other than first rate people.... I'll get to see the GP now, even if it is a wee bit late. Saw a re-run of the Final on Monday evenings Live speedway from Eastbourne, but there's nothing like seeing the whole event. Many Thanks again to both for being there and helping me out. Its something I'll never forget, hopefully I will get to repay the debt sometime soon. All The Best, TC
  15. Hi to one and all. I have posted on the Chris Harris thread on the GP section, but thought I would ask here....General Discussion... If anyone has a tape of Saturdays British GP from Cardiff, would they be willing to do me a copy and send over. I will cover all costs, tape, postage etc. I had to be away at the weekend, out in a field, no TV or Radio, so missed the whole thing, even the re-runs. If anyone can help, PM me and I will sort out the payment etc with you. Many Thanks, TC
  16. Congratulations to Bomber.... what a star you are. What a blow though, I had to be away this weekend, couldn't find the instructions for the Video recorder to set it to record on the timer.... so I missed the whole thing, even the re-runs later on. Is there some kind soul who has a recording out there, and would be willing to do me a copy to send over. I would cover all costs, tape, postage etc...... I don't usually beg... but in this instance, I'll beg and beg.... I tried the speedwaydvd site for a DVD, but you need a credit card, which I don't have at this time...hate the blooming things to be honest. Anyway, if there is anyone that can help, I really would appreciate it. Wonder if Hans still thinks Bomber is a CL rider now...... Sorry, couldn't resist..
  17. Didn't we already have a thread on this subject some while back..... I said it then, I'll say it now...... C'Mon Bomber!!!!! Hacked off with all this PC crud these days...who cares, its just a name for heavens sake. I agree with the other poster.... About time you got out more. Its called life, get on with it.
  18. Well Done BOMBER... Like a few others on here, I have cheesed the neighbours off.. haven't yelled for a Brit to do so well in ages.... now off to rest a sore throat.. But worth it all. Proud to be British again..... I can see Chris doing this on a regular basis, providing they get the tracks right for the rest of the series. Even on a slick track, I can see Bomber doing well. Hard Luck Scotty as well, he tried his heart out, but the engines were obviously set up wrong. Maybe time for a new tuner.... certainly a new mentor, Havvy seems out of touch. A British 1 2 at Cardiff... well I can dream can't I... never say never people.
  19. What a fantastic speedway meeting that was. I don't know where people get the idea that it was boring or devoid of any real passing....WoW..what a way to spend a Sunday evening. It was adrenaline pumping stuff, just sat at home seeing it on TV, God knows what it was like actually being in the Stadium. Just to try and clear up the final positions, re the Team GB & Poland positions... I heard them say on Sky, that in the event of Team GB & Poland being tied on points, Team GB would get the decision as they had more race wins... I haven't checked the race card, getting lazy in my old age, so haven't verified the state of play. It doesn't matter anyway, as the Aussies won and both Team GB & Poland are in the Race Off Thursday. Have to say, I fancy Chris Louis in for the Race Off at Reading instead of Simon Stead. Also totally agree with the poster re reserves, why not?? as was said, if you lose a rider early on to injury, God forbid it does happen, then a team is well and truly stuffed. Come on BSI/FIM, sort it out. I am sure that teams used to have a reserve that could be used to replace injured/out of form riders during a WTC meeting. Thats going back to the 70's when they held the Uk qualifying round at Ipswich between England, Australia, New Zealand and Scotland... Oh they were the days.. packed stadium, loads of great racing...now where was I..Oh yeah back to 2006, shame as I enjoyed those days. C'Mon Team GB... BELIEVE!!
  20. As a True Brit I want our boys to win. But to be honest a medal of any colour will be an achievment.. I'm just proud of what they have done so far.. making the Final against the odds first go and a team of out and out racers.. got to have a good chance of a rostrum place. COME ON YOU BRITS....
  21. Had considered going to this.. then saw the ticket prices.. News Flash for the BSPA/BSI and the FIM.. I am a speedway fan.. Not A Mug!! Thats £54 just to gain entry for my family.. then theres a programme, food.. oh and not to forget that all important item.. fuel to and from the meeting. Not much change from about £160.. if I'm lucky. No Thanks, I'll watch it at home on Sky.. Seems that I'm not the only one giving this a miss either owing to the extortionate prices.. I can live with about £13 for a league match plus programme, eats etc.. but £22 is ridiculous. Maybe if they had just put a couple of quid on top of normal prices.. say £15, then I would have gone. Anyway, rant over. GOOD LUCK TEAM GB.. stick it too 'em boys. Someone please remind Scotty before the meeting, NOT to stop for anything this year.. unless the ref actually walks out in front of him and holds his hand up to stop Scotty.. Good Luck to Bomber and Steady.. these guys are our future.. England Expects guys.. Ok Ok..Team GB expects..
  22. Well, we had considered going to the SWC round at Swindon..but will now saty at home and watch it on Sky..£22 a ticket.. they're having a laugh aren't they.. Would have cost me about £60 with my lad and wife, not including fuel there and back again and also food and a programme.. I think I was right when I stated at the start of the season that I wouldn't attend any speedway meetings this year.. apart from the one here at Sittingbourne V the USA Dream team.. at least we got our monies worth there.. well done Sittingbourne. I know that a profit must be made. but hell fire, £22 a pop.. sorry BSPA, BSI, FIM..A speedway fan I am.. a mug I am not!!
  23. Heartfelt condolences to you and your family Craig. I used to enjoy watching Alan race.. He will be sadly missed.
  24. Oh well..back to the drawing board.. Good job I forgot to buy my lottery tickets for tonight..wouldnt have won anything with my luck tonight !!
  25. I havent got a clue on this one.. so many riders go well here. Just for fun..and a lot of wishful thinking.. 1: Scott Nicholls 2: Tomasz Gollob 3: Jarek Hampel 4: Tony Rickardsson Scotty is due a good GP.. and history shows that he seems to have that really good GP towards the end of the series.
